Researchers at the Center for Health Sciences at the University of Texas have discovered an important factor that explains the dangerous behavior of the Coronavirus (COV)-19, which in some cases can lead to deaths of people with the epidemic, researchers at the Center for Health Sciences at the University of Texas said.

The researchers explained, according to al-Hurra tv channel, that the new discovery, published on Friday in the medical journal Nature, could contribute to the development of drugs to speed up the elimination of the virus, where they concluded that the virus has a method of camouflage and deception, entering the cells of the body avoiding detection by the immune system.

They identified an enzyme called nsp16, produced by the virus and then used to modify its RNA, pointing out that this acid is the genetic symbol of the Coronavirus, where it enters human cells and makes them produce a synthetic version of the virus protein, and once the virus is connected to cells, this acid is used to make those cells produce copies of the virus in large quantities, then the cell is destroyed in the process, and the task of the immune system can infect other cells, while the task of the immune system is to prevent it from spreading and destroy the infected cells as well.

This camouflage explains the apparent variation in symptoms of the disease from person to person, and how some immune responses are better and more efficient than others, which also means that some immune systems slowly respond to the virus, allowing it to spread easily within the lungs and causing all kinds of life-threatening complications, the researchers said.

The researchers are hoping for their new discovery, leading to the creation of drugs specifically targeting the enzyme nsp16, to prevent the process of camouflage and enable the immune system to recognize the virus faster and eliminate it.

وأوضح الباحثون، وفقا لما نقلته قناة /الحرة/ الأمريكية، أن الاكتشاف الجديد، الذي نشر أمس الأول /الجمعة/ في مجلة /نيتشر/ الطبية، يمكن أن يسهم في تطوير أدوية تسرع القضاء على الفيروس، حيث توصلوا إلى أن الفيروس يمتلك طريقة للتمويه والخداع، يدخل بها خلايا الجسم متجنبا اكتشافه من قبل الجهاز المناعي.

وحددوا إنزيما يسمى /nsp16/ ينتجه الفيروس ثم يستخدمه لتعديل حمضه النووي الريبي، مشيرين إلى أن هذا الحمض، هو الرمز الجيني لفيروس كورونا، حيث يدخل الخلايا البشرية ويجعلها تنتج نسخة اصطناعية من بروتين الفيروس، وبمجرد أن يرتبط الفيروس بالخلايا، يستخدم هذا الحمض لجعل تلك الخلايا تنتج نسخا من الفيروس بكميات كبيرة، ثم يتم تدمير الخلية في العملية، ويمكن أن تصيب النسخ الجديدة من الفيروس الخلايا الأخرى، فيما تكون مهمة الجهاز المناعي منعه من الانتشار وتدمير الخلايا المصابة أيضا.

وذكر الباحثون أن هذا التمويه يفسر التباين الواضح في أعراض المرض من شخص لآخر، وكيف أن بعض الاستجابات المناعية أفضل وأكثر كفاءة من غيرها، وهو ما يعني أيضا أن بعض أنظمة المناعة تستجيب ببطء للفيروس مما يسمح له بالانتشار بسهولة داخل الرئتين ويسبب جميع أنواع المضاعفات التي تهدد الحياة.

ويعلق الباحثون أملا على اكتشافهم الجديد بما يؤدي إلى صنع أدوية تستهدف بالتحديد إنزيم /nsp16/، لمنع عملية التمويه، وتمكين الجهاز المناعي من التعرف على الفيروس بشكل أسرع والقضاء عليه.
