Report: How did people in Qatar react to the high prices of resorts and chalets

With the advent of this year’s summer vacation in an exceptional season due to the Corona pandemic, many preferred not to travel abroad for the summer holidays and many resorted to domestic tourism in Qatar, where beaches, resorts and tourist hotels became the outlet for family recreation times to ease the hot summer weather.
The prices of bookings in tourist resorts have broken records in recent times, as prices have doubled with increased demand and double demand for chalet and tourist resorts reservations, which has angered many citizens who criticized the huge rise in prices, and called for not exaggerating and exploiting the high demand for them because most citizens and residents did not travel and are spending the holidays at home.
With eid al-Adha holidays approaching, prices have become skyrocketing as the most important season, and prices at the new Resort of Salwa, for example on regular days, have reached more than 6,000 riyals, and their weekend prices exceed 15,000 riyals, and yet bookings are full until the end of August.
Twitter users shared their complaints demanding that the current conditions be taken into account and prices reduced so that everyone can enjoy these tourist facilities in Qatar.
One of Twitter users wrote: “I hope our voices reach the concerned authorities with Salwa Beach I think that the prices are exaggerated and to a large degree, also the prices at Banana and Smesmeh Chalets are skyrocketing. Greed is not good!!!!! “.
Some have described the prices of chalets or rest rooms as equal to the rent of a house for a whole month, and another tweeted: “Internal tourism in Qatar is the right of millionaires only.???. Why don’t they rent chalets for limited income and they are the majority.”
Some saw that taking advantage of beaches is the best solution to escape from the very high rates, and there are large areas of different beaches, which are a treasure to be utilized optimally, through increasing the number of public beaches, which leads to attracting families to them, especially with the inability of some to rent hotels and resorts at those high prices.
Others called for expanding the establishment of competitive tourist resorts to balance prices, and the hospitality sector present special offers during the summer to attract citizens, residents and visitors to help promote the tourism sector within Qatar.

مع قدوم الإجازة الصيفية هذا العام في موسم استثنائي بسبب جائحة كورونا ، فضل الكثيرون عدم السفر إلى الخارج لقضاء العطلة الصيفية ولجأ العديد إلى السياحة الداخلية في قطر ، حيث أصبحت الشواطئ والمنتجعات والفنادق السياحية هي المتنفس للحصول على أوقات استجمام للعائلة تخفف من وطأة اجواء الصيف الحارة.
وقد حطمت أسعار الحجوزات في المنتجعات السياحية أرقاما قياسية في الآونة الأخيرة، حيث تضاعفت الأسعار مع زيادة الإقبال والطلب بشكل مضاعف على حجوزات الشاليهات والمنتجعات السياحية مما أثار استياء العديد من المواطنين الذين انتقدوا الارتفاع الهائل للأسعار ، ودعوا إلى عدم المبالغة والاستغلال للطلب الكبير عليها لعدم سفر أغلب المواطنين والمقيمين وقضاء الإجازة في الداخل.
ومع اقتراب إجازة عيد الأضحى أصبحت الأسعار خيالية باعتباره أهم مواسم الإقبال عليها ، وقد وصلت الأسعار في منتجع سلوى الجديد على سبيل المثال في الأيام العادية إلى أكثر من 6000 ريال، واسعارها في نهاية الأسبوع تتجاوز ال 15 آلاف ريال، ، ورغم ذلك فإن الحجوزات كاملة العدد حتى نهاية شهر اغسطس القادم.
وعبر توتير بث المغردون شكواهم مطالبين بمراعاة الظروف الحالية وتخفيض الأسعار ليتسنى للجميع الاستمتاع بتلك المرافق السياحية في قطر
وكتبت إحدى المغردات تقول: “ياريت اصواتنا توصل للجهه المعنيه بشاطى سلوى اعتقد ان الاسعار مبالغ فيها وبحد كبير مادري نلاقيها من البنانا ولا شاليهات سميسمه ولا ولا ولا ولا ..الطمع مب زين!!!!!”.
وقد وصف البعض أسعار الشاليهات او الاستراحات بأنها تساوي إيجار منزل لمدة شهر كامل، وتسائل مغرد آخر : ” السياحه الداخليه في قطر حق المليونيريه فقط لاغير.؟؟. ليش مايسوون شاليهات تأجير للدخل المحدود وهم الاكثريه.”
البعض رأى أن استغلال الشواطئ يعد الحل الأمثل للهروب من نيران الأسعار، ، وتوجد مساحات كبيرة للشواطئ المختلفة والتي تعد بمثابة كنز يجب استغلاله بالشكل الأمثل، وذلك من خلال زيادة عدد الشواطئ العامة، الامر الذي يؤدي إلى جذب العائلات إليها خاصة مع عدم قدرة البعض على تأجير الفنادق والمنجعات بتلك الأسعار المرتفعة .
فيما نادى آخرون بضرورة التوسع في إنشاء المنتجعات السياحية التنافسية لتحقيق التوازن في الأسعار، وتقديم قطاع الضيافة عروضاً خاصة خلال فصل الصيف لاستقطاب المواطنين والمقيمين والزوّار الوافدين بما يساهم في النهوض بقطاع السياحة داخل قطر.
