Minister heads Qatari delegation to GCC ministerial meetings

Minister of Transport and Communications, H E Jassim Saif bin Ahmed Al Sulaiti headed Qatar’s delegation participating in the 26th Meeting of the GCC Ministerial Committee for Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology, held via videoconferencing and attended by their excellencies ministers of communications and information technology in the GCC.
The meeting discussed several topics relating to the developing of post, telecommunications and information technology sectors in the GCC member states and means of boosting cooperation in these vital industries.
The Ministerial Committee also discussed the outcomes and recommendations of the 28th Meeting of the GCC Telecommunications and Information Technology Undersecretaries Committee, and future orientations for work mechanisms against the background of the lessons learnt from the novel coronavirus pandemic.
The meeting was attended by President of the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), Mohamed Ali Al Mannai and high-level representatives from the Ministry of Transport and Communications and Qatar Post. In a related context, H E the Minister headed Qatar’s delegation participating in the 6th GCC e-Government Ministerial Committee meeting.
Held via videoconferencing, the meeting was attended by a number of their excellencies ministers and senior officials of communications and information technology in the GCC.
During the meeting, the GCC malware analysis platform was launched to be used by computer emergency response centers of GCC Member States. The Ministerial Committee also reviewed the implementation of the 2nd phase of the joint initiatives of the GCC eGovernment Strategy, the endorsement of new initiatives in order to start activating them, the implementation of a number of shared e-services, as well as going ahead with implementing the information security strategy for GCC Member States.
The meeting also discussed the recommendations of the GCC eGovernment Executive Committee at its recent meetings, which highlighted several topics relating to egovernment and IT in cybersecurity and information emergency response, as well as issues on Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). Other key topics were the GCC joint procurement for software and equipment and GCC shared eservices.
The Ministerial Committee stressed on the importance of working as per the future orientations based on lessons learnt from the COVID-19 pandemic. The meeting was attended by high-level representatives from MoTC.

وناقشت اللجنة الوزارية خلال الاجتماع عدداً من الموضوعات، المتعلقة بتطوير قطاعات البريد والاتصالات وتقنية المعلومات بدول مجلس التعاون لدول الخليج العربية، وسبل تعزيز التعاون المشترك بينها في هذا القطاع الحيوي.. بالإضافة إلى بحث نتائج وتوصيات أعمال الاجتماع الثامن والعشرين للجنة وكلاء وزارات الاتصالات وتقنية المعلومات بدول المجلس، فضلاً عن مناقشة التوجهات المستقبلية لآلية العمل وفقاً للدروس المستفادة من جائحة فيروس كورونا المستجد (كوفيد-19).
وشارك في الاجتماع السيد محمد علي المناعي رئيس هيئة تنظيم الاتصالات وممثلين رفيعي المستوى من الوزارة والشركة القطرية للخدمات البريدية (بريد قطر).
وفي سياق متصل، ترأس سعادة السيد جاسم بن سيف السليطي وزير المواصلات والاتصالات وفد دولة قطر المشارك في أعمال الاجتماع السادس للجنة الوزارية للحكومة الإلكترونية بدول مجلس التعاون لدول الخليج العربية، الذي عقد عبر تقنية الاتصال المرئي، بحضور عدد من أصحاب المعالي والسعادة الوزراء والمسؤولين في وزارات الاتصالات وتقنية المعلومات بدول المجلس.
وتم خلال الاجتماع تدشين المنصة الخليجية لتحليل البرمجيات الخبيثة الخاص بالأمن السيبراني، وستمكن هذه المنصة المراكز الوطنية للاستجابة لطوارئ الحاسبات بدول مجلس التعاون من استعراض آلية الاستخدام والتفاعل مع منصة تحليل البرمجيات الخبيثة.
واستعرضت اللجنة الوزارية أيضاً تنفيذ المرحلة الثانية من المبادرات المشتركة لاستراتيجية الحكومة الإلكترونية بدول المجلس، واعتماد المبادرات الجديدة ليتم البدء بتنفيذها، وتنفيذ عدد من الخدمات الإلكترونية المشتركة، بالإضافة إلى بدء تنفيذ الاستراتيجية الاسترشادية للسلامة والأمن السيبراني لدول المجلس.
وناقشت اللجنة الوزارية أيضا، توصيات اللجنة التنفيذية للحكومة الإلكترونية بدول المجلس في اجتماعاتها الأخيرة والتي أبرزت العديد من المواضيع المتعلقة بالحكومة الإلكترونية وتقنية المعلومات في مجالات الأمن السيبراني والاستجابة لطوارئ الحاسبات، وبنية المفاتيح العامة (PKI)، بالإضافة لمواضيع الشراء الموحد للبرمجيات والعتاد، والخدمات الإلكترونية المشتركة بدول المجلس.
وأكدت اللجنة الوزارية خلال الاجتماع على ضرورة العمل ضمن التوجهات المستقبلية استناداً للدروس المستفادة من جائحة فيروس كورونا المستجد (كوفيد-19).
