Ghosn’s case … How much has the Lebanese-French businessman paid to those who drove him from Tokyo to Beirut?

They say you can’t put a price on freedom, but that may not be entirely true — at least in former Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn’s case. A recent court filing found that Ghosn wired a substantial sum of money to a company managed by one of the two individuals that helped him escape from Japan, according to a report published Tuesday by Reuters.
How much money? Well over three-quarters of a million dollars — $862,500 to be exact — and while we’re not exactly sure how much of that went to buy the instrument case that he busted out in, that’s still a sizable chunk of change.
The two men who helped Ghosn — father and son Michael and Peter Taylor — are currently being held in a correctional facility in Massachusetts while they await possible extradition to Japan on charges stemming from Ghosn’s great escape.
Ghosn’s flight from Japan to Beirut was a smart move, it would seem, because while Lebanon doesn’t have an extradition treaty with Japan, the United States does. The Taylors have requested bail, but so far have not received it because of a perceived flight risk.
So, while Michael Taylor’s former career as a member of Army Special Forces may have helped him get Carlos out of Japan, it doesn’t look like it’s going to be enough to get him and his son out of the Ghosn Zone.

لازال الغموض يحيط الطريقة التي فر بها الرئيس السابق لتحالف “رينو-نيسان” كارلوس غصن، من طوكيو إلى بيروت، إلا أن وسائل إعلام يابانية كشفت المبلغ الذي دفعه غصن، لمن ساعدوه على مغادرة طوكيو إلى إسطنبول، ومنها في اليوم نفسه إلى بيروت.
تكلفة خروج رجل الأعمال اللبناني الفرنسي البرازيلي بلغت أكثر من 862 ألف دولار، بحسب ما ذكرت صحيفة Nikkei اليابانية أمس، حيث دفعها لشركة يديرها واحد من الذين ساعدوه على مغادرة طوكيو إلى إسطنبول، ومنها في اليوم نفسه إلى بيروت”. وفقا لوكالة سبوتنيك الروسية.
واستنادا للصحيفة فإن هذه المعلومات الجديدة واردة في بيانات ووثائق قدمها القضاء الياباني إلى محكمة أمريكية”، مشيرة إلى أن غصن قام في أكتوبر/ تشرين الأول الماضي عبر أشخاص آخرين بتحويلين من حساب مصرفي بباريس، مجموعهما 862500 دولار لشركة Promova Fox التي يديرها “مايكل تايلور” البالغ من العمر 59 عاما وابنه البالغ 27 عام”.
وبحسب الوارد في المستندات، “التحويلان يظهران العلاقة بين الرئيس السابق لشركة نيسان ورينو، وبين من ساعدوه على الهرب في 29 ديسمبر/ كانون الأول الماضي، حيث تم نقله إلى تركيا التي توقف فيها بعض الوقت، ثم غادر إلى بيروت، والتي لا يزال يرفض الإفصاح فيها عن كيفية هروبه، بعد أن تم الإفراج عنه بكفالة في اليابان، لكنه اعترف بأنه حصل على مساعدة من أطراف لم يحدد هويتها.
يذكر أن اليابان وجهت طلبا رسميا إلى الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية لتسليمها أشخاصا يشتبه بمساعدتهم لرجل الأعمال اللبناني، مدير “نيسان” السابق، كارلوس غصن، على الهرب من القضاء الياباني.
