Qatar to host Asia and World Snooker Championships in November
قطر تعلن استضافة بطولتي آسيا والعالم للسنوكر في نوفمبر المقبل

The Qatar Billiards and Snooker Federation has announced that it will host the Asian Snooker Championship in November in conjunction with the World Championship for the same game held in Doha.
Mr. Mubarak Al-Khayaren, Executive Director of the Qatar Federation, explained that the Asian Championship was scheduled for April and was postponed for July, but the continuing outbreak of the Coronavirus /Covid-19 pandemic has led to the postponement of the tournament again to be held in conjunction with the World Championship in November.
In a press statement, al-Khayaren said that the Asian and World Championships in Qatar will only be held if the conditions are completely safe, as well as the return of travel and flight without obstacles or problems so that the largest number of teams and federations, whether continental or international, can attend and participate in the competitions of the two championships.
He revealed that Qatar will also host on the sidelines of the tournaments the two general assemblies of the Asian and International Federations, pointing out their importance as they will witness the holding of elections to choose a new board of directors both in the International Federation and the Asian Federation.
Al-Khayaren, Executive Director of the Qatar Federation will chair the International Snooker Federation at its current session, while Mr. Mohammed Salem Al Nuaimi, Secretary-General of the Qatar Federation, also chairs Asian Snooker Federation at its current session.
On a related note, the Qatar Billiards and Snooker Federation, headed by Mr. Mohammed Al-Remzani, decided to take precautionary measures in preparation for the resumption of activity, which will begin by testing the players of the teams for coronavirus in coordination with the Ministry of Culture and Sports through the Crisis Management Committee.
Al-Khayaren considered that the return of the activity of billiards and snooker will be easy, especially since the majority of preventive matters related to the coronavirus are present in this sport, where there is a natural social distancing between players, the player does not stand on the table until the opponent finishes playing, as there is no contact or friction of any kind, as well as that there are great distances between each table and another.

أعلن الاتحاد القطري للبليارد والسنوكر استضافة بطولة آسيا للسنوكر خلال شهر نوفمبر المقبل بالتزامن مع بطولة العالم للعبة التي تستضيفها الدوحة.
وأوضح السيد مبارك الخيارين المدير التنفيذي للاتحاد القطري أن البطولة الآسيوية كانت مقررة في شهر أبريل الماضي وتم تأجيلها لشهر يوليو الحالي، إلا أن استمرار تفشي أزمة جائحة فيروس كورونا /كوفيد-19/ أدي إلى تأجيل البطولة مرة ثانية لتقام بالتزامن مع بطولة العالم في شهر نوفمبر المقبل.
وقال الخيارين، في تصريح صحفي، إن بطولتي آسيا والعالم في قطر لن تقاما إلا إذا كانت الأجواء آمنة تماما، فضلا عن عودة حركة السفر والطيران بدون عراقيل أو مشاكل حتى يتسنى لأكبر عدد من المنتخبات والاتحادات سواء قاريا أو دوليا، الحضور والمشاركة في منافسات البطولتين.
وكشف أن قطر ستستضيف أيضا على هامش البطولتين اجتماعي الجمعيتين العموميتين للاتحادين الآسيوي والدولي، لافتا إلى أهميتهما حيث سيشهدان إجراء الانتخابات لاختيار مجلس إدارة جديد سواء في الاتحاد الدولي أو الاتحاد الآسيوي.
ويترأس الخيارين المدير التنفيذي للاتحاد القطري، الاتحاد الدولي للسنوكر في دورته الحالية، فيما يترأس السيد محمد سالم النعيمي أمين السر العام للاتحاد القطري، رئاسة الاتحاد الآسيوي للسنوكر في دورته الحالية أيضا.
وعلى صعيد متصل، قرر الاتحاد القطري البليارد والسنوكر برئاسة السيد محمد الرمزاني إجراء التدابير الاحترازية استعدادا لعودة النشاط، والتي ستبدأ بفحص لاعبي المنتخبات لاختبار فيروس كورونا بالتنسيق مع وزارة الثقافة والرياضة من خلال لجنة إدارة الأزمة.
واعتبر الخيارين أن عودة نشاط البليارد والسنوكر سيكون سهلا، خاصة أن غالبية الأمور الوقائية الخاصة بفيروس كورونا موجودة في هذه الرياضة، حيث يوجد فيها تباعد اجتماعي طبيعي بين اللاعبين، فاللاعب لا يقف على الطاولة إلا بعد أن ينهي منافسه اللعب، كما لا يوجد تلامس أو احتكاك من أي نوع، فضلا عن أن هناك مسافات كبيرة بين كل طاولة وأخرى.
