Worksites of 56 companies closed for violating summer working hours in open spaces

QNA – Doha:

Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs (MADLSA), represented by the Labor Inspection Department, conducted extensive inspection campaigns from June 15 to 18, to ensure companies’ compliance with Ministerial Decision No. 16 for 2007 specifying working hours during the summer for work performed under the sun or in the open places.

During the campaigns, 56 companies were notified of the closure of worksites for 3 days for violating the provisions of the decision.

Most of the violating companies working in the contracting sector work in the regions (Al Sailiya, Al Hilal, Al Wakrah, Rawdat Al Hamama, Al Kharaitiyat, Al Gharafa, Umm Sneem, Lusail, Al Kheisa, Al Khor, Izghawa, Ain Khaled, Fereej Al Murra, Unaizah, Al Thumama, Muaither, Frij Al Manasir).

The Ministry called on all companies in different sectors to adhere to work hours during the summer for work performed under the sun or in open workplaces to avoid closing the workplace that doesn’t adhere to the provisions of the Ministerial Decision for a period that does not exceed a month.

Ministerial Decision No. 16 for 2007 determines the working hours for work performed in the sun or open spaces during the period from June 15 to August 31 of each year, so that it does not exceed five hours in the morning shift and ends before 11:30 am, while the evening shift starts at 3:00 pm.

The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor, and Social Affairs has dedicated the hotline (40280660) and email to report violations in this regard.

These measures come from the State of Qatar’s keenness to ensure the safety and health of workers and the work environment.

قامت وزارة التنمية الإدارية والعمل والشؤون الاجتماعية، ممثلة في إدارة تفتيش العمل، بحملات تفتيشية مكثفة خلال الفترة من 15 إلى 18 يونيو الجاري بغرض التأكد من التزام الشركات بالقرار الوزاري رقم (16) لسنة 2007 بتحديد ساعات العمل خلال الصيف للأعمال التي تؤدى تحت الشمس أو في الأماكن المكشوفة.

وخلال الحملات تم إخطار 56 شركة بإغلاق مواقع العمل لمدة 3 أيام لمخالفتها لأحكام القرار.

وتعمل أغلب الشركات المخالفة بقطاع المقاولات في مناطق (السيلية، الهلال، الوكرة، روضة الحمامة، الخريطيات، الغرافة، أم سنيم، لوسيل، الخيسة، الخور، إزغوى، عين خالد، فريج المرة، عنيزة، الثمامة، معيذر، فريج المناصير).

وأهابت الوزارة بجميع الشركات في مختلف القطاعات ضرورة الالتزام بساعات العمل خلال الصيف للأعمال التي تؤدى تحت الشمس أو في أماكن العمل المكشوفة، تجنباً لعدم إغلاق مكان العمل الذي لا تراعى فيه أحكام القرار الوزاري المشار إليه لمدة لا تجاوز الشهر.

ويحدد القرار الوزاري رقم (16) لسنة 2007 ساعات العمل للأعمال التي تؤدى تحت الشمس أو في الأماكن المكشوفة خلال المدة من 15 يونيو وحتى 31 أغسطس من كل عام، بحيث لا تزيد على خمس ساعات في الفترة الصباحية، ولا تجاوز الساعة الحادية عشرة والنصف صباحاً، على ألا يبدأ العمل في الفترة المسائية قبل الساعة الثالثة مساءً.

وخصصت وزارة التنمية الإدارية والعمل والشؤون الاجتماعية الخط الساخن (40280660) والبريد الالكتروني للإبلاغ عن المخالفات بهذا الشأن.
