Doha: Russian epidemiologist Mikhail Lebedev revealed that the most dangerous place in the airports to increase the chance of infection with Coronavirus is the inspection area.
The Russian expert explained – in an interview with “Novosti” agency yesterday, Sunday – that his choice of the inspection area as the most dangerous place in the airports in terms of the risk of infection with Coronavirus comes due to the difficulty of applying social distancing measures in it.
To reduce the chance of infection with Coronavirus, the expert called on travelers not to rush and to refrain from removing the mask as much as possible and to clean hands with sterilizer after undergoing inspection.
Lebedev also appealed to travelers to avoid roaming inside the airport building, to refrain from visiting shops and cafes if there is no urgent need, and to commit to wearing the mask, not to mention making payments by card and not with cash.
The expert pointed out that online registration of the flight also reduces the risk of infection at the airport.
As for the flight itself, Lebedev pointed out that the ventilation systems inside the plane cause the air inside the plane to completely refresh every three minutes, adding that the air inside the plane moves only from top to bottom.
This means, according to the expert, that the traveler who does not leave his seat faces the risk of contracting the virus only from his neighbors and hosts, which explains why airline employees are required to wear masks and gloves during flights.

الدوحة: كشف الخبير الوبائي الروسي ميخائيل ليبيديف بأن أخطر مكان في المطارات لزيادة فرصة الإصابة بكورونا هو منطقة التفتيش.
وأوضح الخبير الروسي – في حوار مع وكالة “نوفوستي” اليوم الأحد- أن اختياره لمنطقة التفتيش باعتبارها المكان الأكثر خطرا في المطارات من حيث خطر الإصابة بكورونا يأتي بسبب صعوبة تطبيق إجراءات التباعد الاجتماعي فيها.
ولتقليل فرصة الإصابة بكورونا ، دعا الخبير المسافرين إلى عدم الاستعجال والامتناع عن خلع الكمامة قدر الإمكان وتنظيف اليدين بمعقم عقب الخضوع للتفتيش.
كما ناشد ليبيديف المسافرين تفادي التجوال داخل مبنى المطار والامتناع عن زيارة المحال التجارية والمقاهي إن لم تكن هناك حاجة ماسة والالتزام بارتداء الكمامة، ناهيك عن سداد المدفوعات بالبطاقة وليس بالنقد.
وأشار الخبير إلى أن التسجيل عبر الإنترنت للرحلة يقلل أيضا من خطر الإصابة في المطار.
وأما بخصوص الرحلة نفسها، فأشار ليبيديف إلى أن أنظمة التهوية داخل الطائرة تتسبب في تحديث الهواء داخلها بالكامل كل ثلاث دقائق، مضيفا أن الهواء داخل الطائرة يتحرك من الأعلى للأسفل حصرا.
ويعني ذلك، حسب الخبير، أن المسافر الذي لا يترك مقعده يواجه خطر انتقال الفيروس إليه فقط من جيرانه والمضيفين، ما يفسر إلزام موظفي شركات الطيران بارتداء الكمامات والقفازات خلال الرحلات.
