General Cleanliness Department participates in Paperless Day initiative

The Peninsula – Doha:

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment represented by General Cleanliness Department participated in the Paperless Day initiative, in coordination with Elite Paper Recycling Company to protect the environment. The initiative aims at promoting better paper saving habits for the long-term in an effort to reduce impact on the environment, said the Ministry in a statement.

The initiative included encouraging environmentally friendly practices, rationalising paper consumption, activating the role of paper container in departments and municipalities.

The objective of the initiative is also to support and strengthen the community partnership between the administration and the leading local companies in the field of paper recycling.

During this day, employees and their families were encouraged to collect and dispose of papers, cartons, and publications in homes and offices, avoid printing, consuming papers, and adopting electronic devices and systems.

The waste paper collected in the container was also delivered to a representative of Elite Paper Recycling Company for recycling. Director of General Cleanliness Department Muqbel Al Shammari praised the fruitful cooperation between the department and Elite Paper Recycling Company, and their pioneering role in the areas of awareness, protection of environment and recycling.

شاركت وزارة البلدية والبيئة ممثلة بإدارة النظافة العامة أمس في مبادرة يوم بلا ورق، بالتنسيق والتعاون مع شركة النخبة لإعادة تدوير الورق، بهدف إبراز جهود الإدارة في الحفاظ على البيئة.

تضمنت المبادرة التشجيع على الممارسات الصديقة للبيئة وترشيد استهلاك الورق وتفعيل دور حاوية السولار الخاصة بالأوراق في الإدارات والبلديات، ودعم وتعزيز الشراكة المجتمعية بين الإدارة والشركات المحلية الرائدة في مجال إعادة تدوير الأوراق.

وتم خلال توجيه وتشجيع الموظفين وذويهم على جمع والتخلص من الأوراق والكرتون والمطبوعات بالمنازل والمكاتب وتجنب الطباعة واستهلاك الاوراق واعتماد الأجهزة والانظمة الإلكترونية.

كما تم وضع مخلفات الورق المجمعة بحاوية السولار وتسليمها إلى ممثل من شركة النخبة لإعادة تدوير الورق.

وأشاد السيد مقبل الشمري مدير إدارة النظافة العامة بالتعاون المثمر بين الإدارة وشركة النخبة لإعادة تدوير الورق، ودورهم الرائد في مجالات التوعية والحفاظ على البيئة وإعادة التدوير.
