QOC further extends suspension of sport activities
اللجنة الأولمبية تمدّد إيقاف الأنشطة الرياضية
The Peninsula – Doha:
The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) yesterday announced that it has extended the suspension of all local sport activities and events until May 14 to ensure the safety of all athletes, employees of the sport organisations and community members during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The QOC’s decision is a complementary move which comes in line with the preventive measures taken by the State of Qatar to limit the spread of coronavirus by banning public gatherings also in accordance with the recommendations of Ministry of Public Health and National Pandemic Preparedness Committee.
The QOC had previously suspended all sport activities and events until April 30.
Following the QOC’s circular, Qatar Football Association also issued a statement yesterday, sating that all football activities have been suspended until May 14.

قرّرت اللجنة الأولمبية القطرية تمديد إيقاف جميع الأنشطة الرياضية المحلية حتى الرابع عشر من مايو المقبل، بسبب تفشي فيروس كورونا المستجد «كوفيد – 19»، وذلك حرصاً على سلامة المنتسبين لكل الهيئات والمؤسسات الرياضية والمجتمع.
وأشارت اللجنة الأولمبية القطرية إلى أن القرار يأتي استكمالاً للجهود التي تبذلها الدولة لاتخاذ كل الإجراءات الاحترازية للحد من انتشار فيروس كورونا، وتماشياً مع وزارة الصحة العامة بتجنّب التجمعات في الأماكن العامة، وتنفيذاً للقرارات الصادرة من اللجنة الوطنية لمكافحة فيروس كورونا. وكانت اللجنة الأولمبية القطرية قد أعلنت في وقت سابق إيقاف جميع الأنشطة الرياضية المحلية حتى الثلاثين من شهر أبريل الحالي، علماً أنه تم في وقت سابق الإعلان عن إيقاف وتأجيل أنشطة الفئات السنية حتى إشعار آخر.
