Lulu Hypermarket contributes $4m to EAA Foundation

Lulu Hypermarket Qatar has contributed $1m (QR3.65m) per year since 2017, to the Education Above All (EAA) Foundation to support its mission to transform millions of lives by improving access to education. 

The funds allocated to some ‘Educate A Child’ (EAC) projects are supporting the commitment to ensure that millions of the most marginalised and hardest to reach out-of-school children can enrol in quality primary education.

Director of Lulu Hypermarket Qatar Dr. Mohamed Althaf said: “We are delighted to support Education Above All as a partner and to reaffirm our pledge to good causes around the world. 

“Like our company, EAA’s reach transcends geographic boundaries. Its work enhances the lives of children in the most marginalised communities around the world. We are proud to support them in their mission to transform lives through education.”

EAC and partners Unicef USA, Mercy Corps and Unesco are working to ensure the enrollment of more than 350,000 out of school children in Syria, Somalia and Iraq, respectively. Children in these countries face barriers to education such as poverty, insecurity and conflict, shortage of teachers and gender discrimination.

Leena Al derham, Senior Education Specialist at EAA, said: “Education Above All foundation thanks the Lulu Group International for its support. 

“This donation will contribute to our mission of breaking down the barriers that prevent children accessing a quality primary education.  Such barriers include poverty, lack of infrastructure, cultural issues, conflict and challenging geographies.” 

“Through ‘Educate A Child’ and EAA’s other programmes, millions of children in more than 50 countries have been receiving an education where it was once impossible due to the often multiple and compounding barriers. 

“Lulu’s generous support has helped us reach thousands more children who may not otherwise have been able to enrol in quality primary education”, she added.

ساهمت محلات لولو هايبر ماركت قطر بمليون دولار أميركي (3.65 مليون ريال) سنويًا منذ عام 2017 لدعم مؤسسة التعليم فوق الجميع، في مهمتها للوصول العادل إلى التعليم النوعي الجيد في المجتمعات المحرومة، خصص هذا الدعم لبعض مشاريع برنامج «علِّم طفلاً» الذي يلتزم بضمان مساعدة ملايين الأطفال غير الملتحقين بالمدارس والأكثر تهميشاً حول العالم في تحسين جودة التعليم الابتدائي ودعم الأطفال غير الملتحقين بالمدارس.

وبدوره، قال السيد محمد ألطاف مدير محلات «لولو هايبر ماركت» قطر: «نحن سعداء على دعم مؤسسة التعليم فوق الجميع كشريك، كما نؤكد على استمرارية تعهداتنا لدعم القضايا الإنسانية حول العالم، ومثل شركتنا، تتجاوز مؤسسة التعليم فوق الجميع الحدود الجغرافية، حيث يؤثر عملها على حياة ملايين الأطفال والشباب في المجتمعات الأكثر تهميشاً حول العالم، إننا فخورون على دعمهم في مهمتهم لتغيير الحياة من خلال التعليم».

يعمل برنامج «علِّم طفلاً» وشركائه من اليونيسيف في الولايات المتحدة الأميركية، مؤسسة «ميرسي كور» و»اليونسكو» على ضمان التحاق أكثر من 350 ألف طفل غير الملتحقين بالمدارس في سوريا والصومال والعراق، حيث يواجه الأطفال في هذه البلدان عوائق أمام التعليم، مثل: الفقر، وانعدام الأمن، والنزاعات، ونقص المدرسين، والتمييز بين الجنسين.

من جانبها، قالت السيدة لينا الدرهم، اختصاصية تعليم أول في مؤسسة التعليم فوق الجميع: «نشكر محلات «لولو هايبر ماركت» قطر على دعمها، حيث يساهم هذا التبرع في مهمتنا لكسر الحواجز، مثل: الفقر، وضعف البنية التحتية، والنزاعات، والمناطق الجغرافية الصعبة التي تمنع الأطفال والشباب من الوصول إلى التعليم النوعي الجيد في المجتمعات المحرومة».

ومن خلال برنامج «علِّم طفلا» وباقي برامج مؤسسة التعليم فوق الجميع، يتلقى ملايين الأطفال في أكثر من 50 دولة التعليم النوعي الجيد، حيث كان هذا من المستحيل في السابق، بسبب تلك الحواجز المتعددة، وقد ساعد دعم محلات «لولو هايبر ماركت» في الوصول إلى آلاف الأطفال الذين لم يتمكنوا من الالتحاق بالتعليم الابتدائي النوعي الجيد».
