Medical masks and gloves were made using it.. Learn about the metal which Coronavirus does not live on

The new coronavirus has spread and increased fears of contact with surfaces and carrying objects, but recent scientific reports have shown the presence of a metal with latent force that kills microorganisms and some viruses, prompting British and French companies to manufacture masks, gloves and door handles from brass 

A study revealed that copper metal is very effective in eliminating viruses, which encouraged some companies to use it as a marketing argument, especially after WHO doctors revealed how long the deadly virus lives on surfaces, where it lives 24 hours on cardboard, 48 hours on plastic, and several days on iron, but does not withstand a copper surface more than 4 hours outdoors (talk here about copper on surfaces usually mixed with other materials according to the American TV channel “Free”. 

Other studies have advised copper to be mixed with zinc or tin to increase its strength against the intractable coronavirus, because the combined components of these minerals constitute a deadly environment for the virus, and have confirmed the efficacy of copper against other viruses such as avian influenza (H1N1) or even heavy-breathing syndrome MERS.

According to University of Southampton microbiologist Bill Kivel, copper has a unique self-cleaning feature, just like most heavy metals such as gold and silver, also known for its disinfection, and the impact of copper on the aforementioned viruses is “almost immediate” and sometimes microorganisms “explode” in just a few minutes.

This is mainly due to the atomic composition of these metals, each copper atom containing a free electron, which oxifies the molecules of the micro-organism, causing significant damage.

In a 2015 study by coronary virologist Bill Kiville, he found that the virus dies within 20 minutes spent on an alloy made of 95 percent copper, prompting scientists to present copper as a “drug” for Covid-19 contamination. 

Darwin Company, northern Australia, offers its customers 3D printing locks and copper alloy-plated door handles, claiming to be offering the service after discovering itself the antimicrobial properties of red metal.
In Chile and Japan, some companies now offer copper-coated masks and gloves to maximize sterilization, and in the same effort to prevent virus transmission, researchers at the University of Texas have made copper stickers placed on door handles and other surfaces that are touched daily. 

It is noteworthy that the Phoenicians used copper to treat and heal soldier wounds during the wars to avoid infection, and even modern medical tools are made of the same red metal, and many cultures use copper in the same fields (medicine) without being understood in a scientific way.

انتشر فيروس كورونا المستجد وزادت معه المخاوف من ملامسة الأسطح والأشياء الحاملة له، إلا أن تقارير علمية حديثة أفادت بوجود معدن له قوة كامنة تقتل الكائنات الحية الدقيقة وبعض الفيروسات، ما دفع شركات بريطانية وفرنسية إلى تصنيع أقنعة وقفازات ومقابض أبواب من النحاس.

وكشفت دراسة أن معدن النحاس فعال للغاية في القضاء على الفيروسات، وهو ما شجع بعض الشركات في استخدامه كحجة تسويقية، وخاصة بعد أن كشف أطباء منظمة الصحة العالمية عن المدة الزمنية التي يعيشها الفيروس القاتل على الأسطح، حيث  يعيش مدة 24 ساعة على الكرتون، و48 ساعة على البلاستيك، وعدة أيام على الحديد، لكنه لا يصمد على سطح نحاسي أكثر من 4 ساعات في الهواء الطلق (الحديث هنا عن النحاس في الأسطح الممزوج عادة بمواد أخرى بحسب قناة ” الحرة”  الأمريكية.

ونصحت دراسات أخرى بمزج النحاس مع الزنك أو القصدير لزيادة قوته ضد فيروس كورونا المستعصي، لأن مكونات هذه المعادن مجتمعة تشكل بيئة قاتلة للفيروس، كما  أكدت نجاعة النحاس ضد الفيروسات الأخرى مثل أنفلونزا الطيور (H1N1) أو حتى متلازمة صعوبة التنفس (MERS) .

وبحسب عالم الأحياء الدقيقة في جامعة ساوثهامبتون بيل كيفيل، فإن للنحاس خاصية التنظيف الذاتي الفريدة، تماما كأغلب المعادن الثقيلة مثل الذهب والفضة، المعروفة أيضًا بقدرتها على التطهير، كما أن تأثير النحاس على الفيروسات السالف ذكرها “يكاد يكون فوريًا” وأحيانًا “تنفجر” الكائنات الحية الدقيقة في بضع دقائق فقط”.

ويرجع ذلك بشكل رئيس إلى التكوين الذري لهذه المعادن، فكل ذرة نحاسية تحتوي على إلكترون حر،  يؤكسد جزيئات الكائن الدقيق، ما يؤدي إلى إتلافه بشكل كبير.

وفي دراسة أجراها خبير الفيروسات التاجية سنة 2015 بيل كيفيل، تم التوصل إلى نتيجة أن الفيروس يموت في غضون 20 دقيقة يقضيها على سبيكة مصنوعة من 95 في المئة من النحاس،وذلك دفع العلماء لطرح النحاس كـ”دواء” مضاد لبقاء كوفيد- 19.

من جهتها تقدم شركة  داروين، شمالي استراليا، لعملائها أقفال طباعة ثلاثية الأبعاد ومقابض أبواب مطلية بسبائك نحاسية، وتدعي أنها تقدم هذه الخدمة بعد أن اكتشفت بنفسها الخصائص المضادة للميكروبات للمعدن الأحمر .

أما في التشيلي واليابان، تقدم بعض الشركات الآن أقنعة وقفازات واقية بطبقة من النحاس، لتحقيق أقصى قدر من التعقيم، وفي نفس المسعى لمنع نقل الفيروس، صنع باحثون في جامعة تكساس ملصقات نحاسية توضع على مقابض الأبواب والأسطح الأخرى التي يتم لمسها يوميًا.  

يذكر أن الفينيقيين استخدموا النحاس لمعالجة وتضميد جروح الجند خلال الحروب لتجنب العدو ى، وحتى الأدوات الطبية الحديثة مصنوعة من نفس المعدن الأحمر، كما أن ثقافات عديدة تستخدم النحاس في ذات المجالات (التطبيب) دون أن يتم فهم ذلك بطريقة علمية.
