Qatar Red Crescent Society President checks work flow at Mekaines quarantine facility

Dr. Mohamed bin Ghanem Al Ali Al Maadheed, President of Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), has visited the quarantine facility in Mekaines, to follow up the work flow, discuss action plans and challenges, and explain future scenarios of the Coronavirus crisis.

Managed by QRCS under the supervision of the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), the Mekaines quarantine facility is one of the largest in Qatar, with seven complexes that are currently accommodating 11,000 workers.

The visit was attended by Dr. Abdul-Salam Al Qahtani, board member and Head of COVID-19 Crisis Management Committee; Abdullah Al Qatan, Executive Director of the Medical Affairs Division; Dr. Hasan Kasem, General Medical Director of the Medical Affairs Division; and Dr. Hassan Al Yafi, Head of Training and Development Department.

Dr. Al Maadheed had a firsthand overview of how the mechanism of work is applied at the quarantine facility, starting from safety measures and vital signs checks at entrance, and then the swapping room where samples are regularly taken from the referred cases.

Aiham Al Sukhni and Subhi Ejjeh, who manage the quarantine facility, gave a detailed presentation on accommodation, catering, clothing, and other logistic services provided for the quarantined inmates, while observing the maximum safety precautions.

Dr. Al Maadheed commended the role played by QRCS’s personnel, thanks to the expertise they acquired from the Disaster Management Camp’s eight editions, which graduated hundreds of well-trained relief workers. He said the work done by the Camp staff in the current situation reflects QRCS’s ability to manage disasters, particularly in relation to emergency shelter.

He thanked the medical staff at the quarantine center for their excellent work despite all risks and challenges. They were urged to keep up the good performance, realizing the important role of the medical sector in combating the coronavirus outbreak.

The President of QRCS expressed pride in QRCS’s effective contributions to the efforts of Qatari authorities against the virus, together with all government bodies and NGOs. 

The visit was concluded with a meeting with the administrative staff, who told Dr. Al Maadheed and his company how work is done, the administrative structure, the needs required to ensure optimized services. He stressed the compliance with international health crisis management standards.

“In this emergency, QRCS aligns 42 years of humanitarian experience both locally and globally,” said Dr. Al Maadheed. “Inspired by the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, as well as the Qatari culture and values, we aligned over 1,000 employees and 15,000 volunteers to work 24/7 to protect society members. It is the first time for our country to face such a calamity, but I am sure we will emerge out of it stronger and safer”.

Apart from the Mekaines quarantine facility, QRCS is managing a workers’ examination center. Established within only 48 hours, it serves to examine expatriate workers for coronavirus infections.

قام سعادة الدكتور محمد بن غانم العلي المعاضيد -رئيس مجلس إدارة الهلال الأحمر القطري- بزيارة تفقدية إلى مركز الحجر الصحي في منطقة مكينس، الذي يديره الهلال الأحمر القطري تحت إشراف وزارة الصحة العامة، من أجل متابعة سير العمل على الطبيعة، ومناقشة خطط العمل والتحديات الميدانية، وطرح السيناريوهات المستقبلية المحتملة لمراعاتها أثناء التعامل مع أزمة انتشار فيروس كورونا. وحرص د. المعاضيد على التأكد بنفسه من حسن تطبيق آليات العمل داخل مركز الحجر الصحي، بدءاً من إجراءات السلامة، والفحوصات الحيوية عند الدخول، ثم الانتقال إلى غرفة المسح، وسحب العينات من الحالات المحولة من مستشفيات الدولة.

بعد ذلك، استمع الحاضرون من السيدين أيهم إسماعيل السخني وصبحي فهد العجة -مسؤولا إدارة مركز الحجر الصحي- إلى تفاصيل عمليات الإقامة والإعاشة، وتقديم جميع الخدمات للنزلاء، من أماكن المبيت والوجبات والملابس والاحتياجات اللوجستية إلخ، مع ضمان الدرجة القصوى من إجراءات الوقاية من العدوى.

وأشاد د. المعاضيد بالدور الميداني المتميز الذي تقوم به كوادر الهلال الأحمر القطري، بفضل الخبرات التي اكتسبوها من مخيم إدارة الكوارث، الذي عقدت منه 8 نسخ، أسهمت في تخريج مئات الكوادر الإغاثية المدربة على أحدث تقنيات العمل الإنساني، مؤكداً أن العمل الذي يقوم به فريق المخيم في هذه الظروف، يعكس قدرة الهلال الأحمر القطري على إدارة الكوارث وكفاءته، بالأخص في مجال الإيواء الطارئ.

وخلال لقائه بالطاقم الطبي المشرف على الخدمات الطبية داخل مركز الحجر الصحي في مكينس، وجه د. المعاضيد الشكر لهم، وأثنى على الجهود التي يبذلونها في القيام بعملهم على أتم وجه، رغم كل الصعوبات والمخاطر، محفزاً إياهم على ضرورة المحافظة على المستوى نفسه من الجودة وحسن الأداء، بالنظر إلى أهمية دور القطاع الطبي في مواجهة أزمة انتشار فيروس كورونا.

وفي ختام الجولة، التقى د. المعاضيد بالفريق الإداري العامل في المركز، حيث استمع منهم إلى نتائج تنفيذ خطة العمل الموضوعة، والهيكل الإداري المنظم للمكان، والاحتياجات المطلوبة لمواصلة تقديم الخدمات بالشكل الأمثل، ونوّه بأن الهلال الأحمر القطري ملتزم بكل المعايير والشروط الدولية في إدارة هذا النوع من الأزمات. وصرح قائلاً: «أمام هذه الأزمة الصحية الخطيرة، حشد الهلال الأحمر القطري كل ما لديه من خبرات طوال 42 عاماً من العمل الإنساني والاجتماعي محلياً ودولياً، مستلهماً مبادئ الحركة الإنسانية الدولية وثقافة الشعب القطري وقيمه العريقة، ومعتمداً على سواعد أكثر من 1000 موظف و15.000 متطوع يعملون على مدار الساعة لحماية أفراد المجتمع من هذه الأزمة، التي تمر بها بلادنا للمرة الأولى في تاريخها، وبإذن الله، ستخرج منها أكثر قوة وأمناً وسلامة».

يذكر أن مركز الحجر الصحي في منطقة مكينس يعد أحد أكبر مواقع الحجر الصحي على مستوى الدولة، حيث يتكون من 7 مجمعات، تخدم في الوقت الحالي ما يصل إلى 11.000 عامل، ويتولى إدارته طاقم مكون من 100 شخص، ويتولى الهلال الأحمر القطري أيضاً إدارة مركز فحص العمال، الذي تم إنشاؤه في مدة قياسية لا تتجاوز 48 ساعة، وهو مخصص لسحب العينات وإجراء فحوصات فيروس كورونا بين أوساط العمالة الوافدة.
