Ministry vaccinates 813,000 poultry against Newcastle disease

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) represented by the Animal Affairs Department has vaccinated over 813,000 country chickens against Newcastle disease virus during first phase of immunization campaign.
The second phase of the campaign to vaccinate country chickens against Newcastle disease has been launched, said the Ministry in a release yesterday.
The campaign is part of efforts to protect poultry and animal production projects in general from diseases in order to achieve food security in the country.
The Animal Affairs Department has called owners of poultry farmers to go to one of the veterinary center affiliated with the department to register the number of their chickens, and to get free vaccine doses.
In March 2019, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment launched the initiative to vaccinate chickens in the traditional poultry sector against Newcastle disease, in order to reduce the chances of transmission of infection to commercial poultry projects.
The initiative received wide response from country chicken farmers, as the number of chickens whose vaccines were dispensed from May of 2019 until the end of the year is approximately 813,000 chickens.
The immunization program includes several booster doses that are given at specific time periods. Veterinarian doctors at the veterinary centers instruct to the owners of poultry farms on how to use the vaccine in the correct way.
أعلنت وزارة البلدية والبيئة، ممثلة بإدارة الثروة الحيوانية، عن بدء الحملة الثانية لتحصين الدجاج البلدي ضد مرض النيوكاسل (الصَّرع)، في إطار جهود حماية مشاريع إنتاج الدواجن والإنتاج الحيواني بشكل عام من الأمراض، بهدف تحقيق الأمن الغذائي في الدولة. ودعت إدارة الثروة الحيوانية بالوزارة مربي الدجاج البلدي في المزارع والعزب للتوجه إلى أحد المراكز البيطرية التابعة للإدارة لتسجيل عدد الدجاج البلدي الخاص بهم، والحصول على جرعات اللقاح مجاناً. وكانت وزارة البلدية والبيئة قد دشَّنت في مارس من عام 2019 مبادرة تحصين الدجاج في القطاع التقليدي ضد مرض نيوكاسل (الصرع)، للحد من فرص انتقال العدوى إلى مشاريع الدواجن التجارية.
وقد لقيت المبادرة تجاوباً واسعاً من قبل مربي الدواجن البلدية، إذ بلغ عدد الدجاج الذي تم صرف جرعات اللقاح له منذ شهر مايو من عام 2019 وحتى نهاية العام، ما يقارب من 813 ألف دجاجة، ويتميز اللقاح المستخدم بمقاومته العالية للحرارة، الأمر الذي يجعله مناسباً للاستخدام تحت ظروف التربية المحلية، ويتضمن برنامج التحصين عدة جرعات تعزيزية، يتم إعطاؤها على فترات زمنية محددة.
