Main cause of death for two of six cases was not COVID-19: Lolwah al Khater

The main cause of death for two of the six cases was not coronavirus (COVID-19) infection, but other causes as both the deceased were old and had chronic diseases, Supreme Committee for Crisis Management Spokesperson HE Lolwah bint Rashid al Khater has said.

“The direct cause of death of the other four cases was COVID-19 infection,” Khater said at a press conference.

Khater pointed out that the graphs of the degree of infections are very reassuring as 90 percent of the cases are mild.

“The cases of recovery are increasing, while the risk ratio and serious cases of infection are estimated at approximately 2 percent with about 20 cases left intensive care and 37 cases are still in intensive care,” she said.

Khater said 86 percent of infected people are male and 14 percent are female.

Regarding recovery cases, she said more than 77 percent of recovery cases are male and 22 percent are female. About 37 percent of recovery cases are between 25 and 34 years of age.

Khater said the percentage of infections outside the quarantine has risen to 26 percent as compared to 16 percent from last time. Information about 2 percent of cases is still not available and it will be updated soon, she added.

“The increase of infection percentage within the community was due to the increase of the percentage of testing, which is a healthy thing,” she said, adding that part of the infections is due to the lack of commitment of individuals to the precautionary measures.

صرحت (خاطر) في مؤتمر صحفي وقالت أن “السبب المباشر للوفاة للحالات الأربعة الأخرى كان بسبب عدوى (كوفيد-19).” وأشارت إلى أن الرسوم البيانية لدرجة الإصابات مطمئنة للغاية حيث أن 90 بالمئة من الحالات خفيفة. “حالات الشفاء آخذة بالازدياد، في حين تقدر نسبة الخطر والحالات الخطيرة بحوالي 2 بالمئة بمغادرة 20 حالة للعناية المركزة وبقاء 37 حالة في العناية المشددة.

قالت (خاطر) أن 86 بالمئة من حالات العدوى هي لذكور ونسبة 14 بالمئة تعود لإناث.

فيما يخص حالات الشفاء، قالت أن أكثر من 77 بالمئة من حالات الشفاء تعود لذكور ونسبة 22 بالمئة للإناث. حوالي 37 بالمئة من حالات الشفاء تعود لأشخاص تتراوح أعمارهم بين 25 و34 سنة.

قالت (خاطر) أن نسبة العدوى خارج الحجر الصحي قد ارتفعت لتصل إلى 26 بالمئة مقارنةً بنسبة 16 بالمئة من المرة الماضية. أضافت أن المعلومات التي تعود ل2 بالمئة من الحالات لا تزال غير متوفرة وسيتم تحديثها قريباً.

“ارتفاع نسبة العدوى في المجتمع تعود لازدياد نسبة اختبارات الفحص، وهو إجراء صحي بالكامل، “قالت أن زيادة عدد الإصابات تلك يعود لغياب الالتزام واستهتار الأفراد بالإجراءات الوقائية والاحترازية.
