Qatar and Peru sign several agreements

DOHA: Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani discussed with President Martin Vizcarra of the Republic of Peru, bilateral relations and ways of developing cooperation between the two friendly countries in various fields, especially in economy, trade, investment, education and tourism.

The talks, held at the Presidential Palace in the capital Lima on Tuesday, also discussed the most important regional and international issues of common interest, where H H the Amir and the President exchanged views towards them, particularly the current Gulf crisis.

The Peruvian President affirmed the principle of respect for the sovereignty of states, praising in this regard the mediation of H H the Amir of the State of Kuwait, and the mediation of the United States to resolve the crisis through dialogue and diplomatic means. The meeting was attended by a number of Their Excellencies members of the official delegation accompanying H H the Amir. Upon arrival at the Presidential Palace, H H the Amir was accorded an official reception.

H H the Amir and the Peruvian President also witnessed the signing of a number of agreements between the governments of the two countries concerning the cancellation of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic passports and special passports, as well as the institutional cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries, and the cooperation between the Ministries of the Interior of the two countries, at the Presidential Palace.

The signing ceremony was attended by members of the official delegation accompanying H H the Amir.

On the Peruvian side, it was attended by a number of ministers and senior officials.

Earlier, H H the Amir arrived in Lima on Tuesday evening, on a two-day official visit to the Republic of Peru.

H H the Amir was greeted upon arrival at the Air Base Airport, by Peruvian Foreign Minister Nestor Pololizio, Commander-in-Chief of the Air Base Major General Javier Ramirez, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Peru Ali bin Hamad Al Sulaiti, Ambassador of Peru to the State of Qatar Carlos Velasco, as well as members of the Qatari Embassy in Lima.

H H the Amir also received the key to the city of Lima from the Mayor of the City Luis Castaneda Lossio, as an honorary guest of the Republic and an expression of the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries.

This came during a ceremony held on Tuesday in the municipality building, in the presence of a number of senior officials in Peru. H H the Amir and the Mayor of Lima held a meeting during which they reviewed the friendly relations between the two countries and ways to develop them.

H H the Amir left Lima yesterday, following a two-day state-visit to the Republic of Peru heading towards the Republic of Paraguay.

H H the Amir was seen off upon departure from the Callao Air Base by Peru Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Hugo de Zela, Commander-in-Chief of the Air Base Major General Javier Ramirez, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Peru Ali bin Hamad Al Sulaiti, Ambassador of Peru to the State of Qatar Carlos Velasco, as well as members of the Qatari Embassy in Lima.

H H the Amir sent a cable to President of the Republic of Peru Martin Alberto Vizcarra, expressing deep thanks and appreciation for the hospitality and honour accorded to His Highness and the accompanying delegation during the visit, which allowed meeting with the President and exchanging views on issues of common interest and means of strengthening and promoting the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries in various fields for the good and the benefit of the two peoples. H H the Amir wished the President the best of health and happiness, and the friendly people of Ecuador further progress and prosperity.

شهد حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى، وفخامة الرئيس ماريو عبدو بينيتيز رئيس جمهورية الباراغواي، التوقيع على عدد من الاتفاقيات ومذكرات التفاهم بين حكومتي البلدين، وذلك بالقصر الرئاسي في العاصمة أسونسيون، مساء أمس.

فقد شهدا التوقيع على اتفاقية حول إلغاء متطلبات التأشيرة لحاملي جوازات السفر الدبلوماسية والرسمية والخاصة، واتفاقية خدمات جوية تهدف إلى تسهيل عمليات النقل الجوي وتنظيمها بين البلدين، واتفاقية للتعاون في المجال الثقافي. كما شهد سموه وفخامة الرئيس التوقيع على مذكرة تفاهم للتعاون في المجالين السياحي وفعاليات الأعمال، تهدف إلى استكشاف أوجه السياحة، وتبادل الخبرات بين الجانبين، ومذكرة تفاهم للتعاون في مجالي الشباب والرياضة، تهدف إلى تبادل الخبرات في الشؤون الشبابية والرياضية، وتبادل أو إقامة المعسكرات الرياضية بين البلدين، ومذكرة تفاهم للتعاون القضائي بين المجلس الأعلى للقضاء والمحكمة العليا في جمهورية الباراغواي، تهدف إلى تبادل الخبرات القضائية بين الجانبين.

حضر مراسم التوقيع أصحاب السعادة أعضاء الوفد الرسمي المرافق لسمو الأمير. وحضرها من جانب الباراغواي سعادة السيد أوغو بيلاسكيز نائب رئيس جمهورية الباراغواي، وعدد من اصحاب السعادة الوزراء، وكبار المسؤولين.;
