Doha International Book Fair is a Cultural Icon in the Region and the World

Doha: Al-Raya newspaper, in its editorial issued today, affirmed that the Doha International Book Fair, which will be launched next Thursday in its 31 edition, has become a cultural icon at the regional and international level, as the State of Qatar is a sponsor of culture, creativity and knowledge, noting the number of participating countries in the exhibition, which amounted to 37 countries, while the number of publishers reached 430, and the number of publishing agencies reached 90.

The newspaper stated that the expected edition of the exhibition, which is organized by the Ministry of Culture represented by Qatar Cultural And Heritage Events Center, came this year in light of the tightening of precautionary measures due to the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The newspaper explained that despite these measures, book lovers are eagerly awaiting this year’s edition as last year’s edition was postponed due to the pandemic that struck the world, and the exhibition’s organizing capacity will not exceed 30 percent.

Al-Raya stressed that the exhibition comes amid great anticipation from the public, as the exhibition embraces all groups, different ages and languages, pointing out that Qatar continues its bid to spread culture and knowledge.

The newspaper pointed out that the United States of America will be the guest of honor for the upcoming edition of the exhibition.

Al-Raya concluded its editorial by saying, that there will be a distinguished and strong presence of Qatari publishing houses that promote culture and creativity and support Qatari creative production, and therefore adherence to precautionary measures contributes to the success of this year’s edition of Doha International Book Fair.

الدوحة: أكدت صحيفة /الراية/ في افتتاحيتها الصادرة اليوم، على أن معرض الدوحة الدولي للكتاب الذي سينطلق يوم الخميس المقبل في نسخته الحادية والثلاثين، أصبح أيقونة ثقافيّة على مستوى المنطقة والعالم، كون دولة قطر راعية للثقافة والإبداع والعلم المعرفة على المستوى العالمي، منوهة بعدد الدول المشاركة في المعرض والتي بلغت 37 دولة، بينما يصل عدد الناشرين إلى 430 ناشرًا مباشرًا، وتبلغ أعداد التوكيلات 90 توكيلًا بشكل غير مباشر.

وذكرت الصحيفة أن النسخة المرتقبة للمعرض التي تقام تحت شعار العلم نور ، وبتنظيم وزارة الثقافة ممثلة في مركز قطر للفعاليات الثقافيّة والتراثيّة ، قد جاءت هذا العام في ظل تشديد الإجراءات الاحترازيّة بسبب انتشار وباء كورونا .. وأوضحت انه على الرغم من ذلك ينتظر عشّاق الكتاب بكل شوق نسخة هذا العام بعد أن تمّ تأجيل نسخة العام الماضي بسبب الوباء الذي ضرب العالم، أما في هذا العام فقد تمت مراعاة كافة الإجراءات الاحترازيّة خاصة بعد أن تمّ تطعيم أكثر من 86% من سكان قطر، حيث لن تتجاوز الطاقة الاستيعابيّة لتنظيم المعرض 30 بالمئة.

وأكدت أن المعرض يأتي وسط ترقّب كبير من الجمهور، إذ يحتضن المعرض كافة الفئات ومختلف الأعمار واللغات، لافتة إلى أن قطر مستمرة في عطائها لنشر الثقافة والمعرفة.

وأشارت إلى أن الولايات المتحدة الأمريكيّة سوف تحلّ ضيف شرف الدورة المرتقبة للمعرض، وذلك على خلفية العام الثقافي قطر – أمريكا 2021، حيث ستشهد هذه الاستضافة عرضًا للثقافة الأمريكيّة وتقديم الإنتاج الفكري الأمريكي.

واختتمت /الراية/ افتتاحيتها بالقول ” سيكون هناك حضور مميّز وقوي لدور النشر القطريّة التي تروّج للثقافة والإبداع وتدعم الإنتاج الإبداعي القطري، وعليه فإن الالتزام بالإجراءات الاحترازيّة يساهم بإنجاح نسخة هذا العام من معرض الدوحة للكتاب”.
