In an eloquent Instagram post published on Tuesday, Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser described the coronavirus pandemic sweeping across the world as “a breakthrough” that is “forcing us to come back to our senses”.

“Some would look at the coronavirus pandemic as a crisis, but I see it as a breakthrough that is making us realise that we were, in fact, living in a crisis long before,” her post said.

“A crisis that shifted our priorities in life. Is it our family or our work? Our children or our friends?

“A crisis of pursuing material things in life, until that very desire shackled us, even after we claimed to abolish slavery.

“A crisis borne of a world revolves around currency, where the value of people is based on how large their bank balance is, not the balance of their moral values.

“I believe that the coronavirus, as it occupies every moment and mind, is dismantling this facade that we built up for ourselves, and forcing us to come back to our senses.

“Maybe it is a beginning…”

قالت صاحبة السمو الشيخة موزا بنت ناصر، رئيس مجلس إدارة مؤسسة قطر للتربية والعلوم وتنمية المجتمع ، أن البعض يرى في تفشي وباء كورونا “أزمة”، و أنا أراه انفراجة من أزمة ، كنّا نعيشها بدون أن نعيها.⠀

وأكملت في تغريدة عبر حسابها الرسمي في انستغرام : “وهي أزمة ترتيب أولوياتنا في الحياة: الأسرة أم العمل؟ الأبناء أم الأصدقاء؟⠀

أزمة السباق أو الانسياق وراء مظاهر وماديات الحياة حتى أصبحنا عبيدا لها في زمن ندعي أنّنا قضينا فيه على العبودية .⠀

أزمة عالم من ورق، يقاس الناس فيه بالأكثر ثروة والأكبر رصيدا في البنك، ونسينا الثروة الأخلاقية ورصيدنا من القيم. ⠀

أنا مؤمنة ان الكورونا (وهو الملك المتوج على عرشه ) هزم صرح الأوهام الذي بنيناه لأنفسنا..وجعلنا نعود إلى وعينا..

لعلها البداية” .
