Amir meets US Secretary of State

Doha: The Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani met with the US Secretary of State H E Mike Pompeo and his accompanying delegation at His Highness’ office in Al Bahr Palace on Saturday afternoon, on the occasion of their visit to the country to attend the signing ceremony of the Afghanistan peace agreement.
During the meeting, US Secretary of State extended thanks to HH the Amir for hosting the signing ceremony of the peace agreement between the US and Taliban, and for undertaking the rounds of negotiations between the two sides to facilitate access to the agreement, appreciating the mediation efforts made by Qatar to resolve disputes and bring peace to the region and the world.
The meeting also dealt with the strategic bilateral relations between the US and Qatar and ways to support and enhance these relations, in addition to the most prominent regional and international development.
استقبل حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى، سعادة السيد مايك بومبيو وزير خارجية الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية الصديقة والوفد المرافق، في مكتبه بقصر البحر بعد ظهر اليوم، وذلك بمناسبة زيارته للبلاد لحضور مراسم توقيع اتفاق إحلال السلام في أفغانستان.
وخلال المقابلة، شكر سعادة وزير الخارجية الأمريكي سمو الأمير المفدى، على استضافة الدوحة لمراسم توقيع اتفاق السلام بين الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وطالبان، وعلى احتضان دولة قطر لجولات المفاوضات بين الجانبين، وتسهيل الوصول إلى الاتفاق، مثمنا جهود الوساطة التي تبذلها دولة قطر من أجل حل النزاعات وإحلال السلام في المنطقة والعالم.
كما تناولت المقابلة العلاقات الثنائية الاستراتيجية بين دولة قطر والولايات المتحدة الأمريكية الصديقة وسبل دعمها وتعزيزها، إضافة إلى أبرز المستجدات على المستويين الإقليمي والدولي.
