Al Rufaa Intersection Fully Upgraded and Opened for Traffic
انتهاء أعمال تطوير تقاطع الرفاع وفتحه بالكامل أمام الحركة المرورية
The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ announced the completion of the upgrade works of Al Rufaa Intersection (known as Sana Intersection) and opening it for traffic on Wednesday 25 March 2020, as part of the A-Ring Road Development Project.
Eng. Mohamed Arqoub Al-Khaldi, Highway Projects Department Assistant Manager at Ashghal, said that the intersection has a strategic location that links some of the major vital roads in Doha such as Ras bu Abboud Street, Ali bin Omar Al Attiya Street as well Ahmed bin Mohamed bin Thani Street (known as the A Ring Road) and the B Ring Road, where it serves several road users who commute on these roads on daily basis.
Engineer Al Khaldi also noted that the upgrade of the intersection, significantly contributes to increasing the intersection’s vehicular capacity and reducing the congestion. In addition to facilitating commuting between the densely populated residential areas surrounding it, such as Umm Ghuwailina, Al Hitmi, Old Al Ghanim and Al Doha Al Jadeeda.
He also highlighted that in addition to enhancing traffic flow in the heart of these densely-populated areas, Al Rufaa Intersection facilitates the commute to several health and educational facilities, commercial centers and many hotels in addition to Hamad International Airport and the iconic Qatar National Museum.
The upgrading works that were implemented on the intersection include increasing the number of lanes on the streets that are connected to Al Rufaa Intersection, where four lanes will be accommodating traffic coming from Ras bu Abboud to Ahmed bin Mohamed bin Thani Street and three lanes for motorists wanting to turn left towards B Ring Road and one lane to turn right.
As for road users coming from Ahmed bin Mohamed bin Thani Street, the intersection provides four lanes to continue straight towards Ras bu Abboud Street along with three lanes to turn left towards Ali bin Omar Al Attiya Street and one lane to turn right.
The number of lanes on the B-Ring Road has also been increased to four shared lanes that allow road users to continue straight towards Ali bin Omar Al Attiya Street or turn left towards Ahmed bin Mohamed bin Thani Street, and one right-turn lane towards Ras bu Abboud Street.
As for those coming from Ali bin Omar Al Attiya Street, the intersection provides three shared lanes to allow road users to continue straight towards the B-Ring Road or turn left towards Ras bu Abboud Street, in addition to one right-turn lane towards Ahmed bin Mohamed bin Thani Street.
The Public Works Authority is implementing, within the scope of works of the A-Ring Road Development Project, infrastructure upgrade works, which comprises of the development of rainwater drainage networks, electricity lines network, street lighting and ITS network, along with the expansion of a pedestrian path and the construction of dedicated cycle paths.
أعلنت هيئة الأشغال العامة “أشغال” عن انتهاء أعمال تطوير تقاطع الرفاع (المعروف بتقاطع سنا) وفتحه بالكامل أمام الحركة المرورية ضمن مشروع تطوير الطريق الدائري الأول، وذلك يوم الأربعاء 25 مارس 2020.
وقد صرّح المهندس محمد عرقوب الخالدي، مساعد مدير إدارة مشروعات الطرق السريعة في “أشغال”، أن تقاطع الرفاع له أهمية بالغة نظراً لموقعه الاستراتيجي حيث يربط بين شارع أحمد بن محمد بن ثاني (الطريق الدائري الأول) وشارع راس بو عبود من جهة والطريق الدائري الثاني وشارع علي بن عمر العطية من جهة أخرى ويلبي احتياجات عدد كبير من المركبات التي تستخدم هذه المحاور الحيوية بشكل يومي.
كما أوضح المهندس الخالدي أن أعمال التطوير التي نفذتها “أشغال” على التقاطع تساهم بشكل كبير في تحسين القدرة الاستيعابية للتقاطع وخدمة الحركة المرورية المتزايدة عليه بالإضافة إلى تسهيل التنقل والوصول إلى العديد من المناطق السكنية التي تشهد كثافة مرورية عالية مثل مناطق أم غويلينة والهتمي والغانم العتيق والدوحة الجديدة.
وأكّد أن تطوير تقاطع الرفاع ساهم في تخفيف الازدحام المروري بالمنطقة وعمل على تسهيل عملية الانتقال من وإلى العديد من المنشآت التعليمية والمرافق الصحية والمراكز التجارية والفنادق، بالإضافة إلى مطار حمد الدولي ومتحف قطر الوطني.
وتمثلت أعمال التطوير التي تم تنفيذها على التقاطع في زيادة عدد المسارات التي تربط الشوارع المتقاطعة بإشارة الرفاع حيث يوفر للقادمين من شارع راس بو عبود، أربعة مسارات للمواصلة إلى الأمام نحو شارع أحمد بن محمد بن ثاني وثلاثة مسارات للانعطاف يساراً نحو الدائري الثاني بالإضافة إلى مسار واحد للانعطاف يميناً.
وبالنسبة للقادمين من شارع أحمد بن محمد بن ثاني، يوفر التقاطع أربعة مسارات للمواصلة نحو شارع راس بو عبود وثلاثة مسارات للانعطاف يساراً نحو شارع علي بن عمر العطية ومسار واحد للاتجاه يميناً.
كما تم زيادة عدد المسارات على الطريق الدائري الثاني إلى أربعة مسارات مشتركة تمكن مستخدمي الطريق من المواصلة نحو شارع علي بن عمر العطية واثنان للاتجاه يساراً نحو شارع أحمد بن محمد بن ثاني بالإضافة إلى مسار واحد للاتجاه يميناً نحو شارع راس بو عبود.
أما بالنسبة للقادمين من شارع علي بن عمر العطية فيوفر التقاطع ثلاثة مسارات مشتركة تمكن مستخدمي الطريق من المواصلة نحو الطريق الدائري الثاني واثنان للانعطاف يساراً نحو شارع راس بو عبود بالإضافة إلى مسار واحد للانعطاف يميناً نحو شارع أحمد بن محمد بن ثاني.
وتواصل الهيئة ضمن نطاق أعمال مشروع تطوير الطريق الدائري الأول تنفيذ أعمال تحديث البنية التحتية التي تتمثل في تطوير شبكات صرف مياه الأمطار وخطوط شبكة الكهرباء وإنارة الشوارع وشبكة الاتصالات الذكية إلى جانب توسعة الممرات المخصصة للمشاة وإنشاء ممرات مخصصة للدرجات الهوائية.
