Opening Fourth Underpass at Mesaimeer Interchange
افتتاح رابع نفق بتقاطع مسيمير
The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ announces opening of a new underpass of 500m length at Mesaimeer Interchange, easing traffic flow from E Ring Road towards Doha Expressway.
The new underpass can accommodate more than 3000 cars per hour and it is the fourth out of nine underpasses being constructed at the Interchange.
On this occasion, Eng. Ahmad Ali Al Emadi confirmed that the new underpass is the fourth big achievement in Mesaimeer Interchange, as it is opened to traffic two months ahead of schedule. He also hinted that almost 80% of construction works have been completed at this interchange.
“The new underpass connects traffic from E Ring Road towards Doha Expressway, providing a free flow traffic for road users coming from Al Thumama and Old Airport towards Doha Expressway without using the existing traffic diversion. “, he added.
The newly constructed Mesaimeer Interchange is the first of its kind in Qatar, consisting three levels with nine underpasses to facilitate free flow traffic. The 6.1km long interchange consists of three to four lane carriageways to accommodate around 20,000 cars per hour in both directions.
افتتحت هيئة الأشغال العامة “أشغال” نفقا جديداٌ بتقاطع مسيمير بطول 500 متراً ليوفر تدفقاً مرورياً حراً من الطريق الدائري الخامس إلى طريق الدوحة السريع.
ويعتبر النفق الجديد هو النفق الرابع الذي يتم افتتاحه من بين الأنفاق التسعة التي يتألف منها التقاطع الحيوي، حيث يستوعب النفق أكثر من 3000 مركبة في الساعة.
وبهذه المناسبة، أكد المهندس احمد علي العمادي أن النفق الجديد هو رابع إنجاز في تقاطع مسيمير حيث تم افتتاحه قبل موعده بنحو شهرين لافتاً إلى أنه تم إنجاز نحو 80% من أعمال التقاطع.
وأوضح أن النفق يربط الحركة المرورية القادمة من الطريق الدائري الخامس في اتجاه طريق الدوحة السريع مشيراً إلى قدرة رواد الطريق القادمين من الثمامة والمطار القديم على الوصول مباشرة إلى طريق الدوحة السريع دون الحاجة لاستخدام التحويلة القديمة.
يعتبر التقاطع الجديد الذي يتألف من ثلاثة مستويات هو الأول من نوعه في قطر نظرا لاحتوائه على تسعة أنفاق توفر تدفقا مروريا حرا، يبلغ طول أعمال التقاطع 6.1 كيلومتر، حيث يتكون التقاطع مابين ثلاثة إلى أربعة مسارات في كل اتجاه لتستوعب نحو 20,000 مركبة في الساعة في الاتجاهين.
