Qatar University Forum Digital Innovation kicks off
انطلاق فعاليات ملتقى جامعة قطر للابتكارات الرقمية
In the presence of HE the Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti, Qatar University (QU) president Dr Hassan al-Derham and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education undersecretary Dr Ibrahim bin Saleh al-Nuaimi launched the QU Digital Innovation Forum yesterday.
The two-day forum aims to bring technology and industry leaders together to share ideas and insights on new technology trends and their impact on education. The forum also provides the university community a platform to explore the latest technological developments related to education.
In his speech during the event, Dr al-Derham said, “The organisation of this forum enhances our capacity to do more and how we can volunteer in the service of education to make the future brighter.”
“Digital innovation is a part of our lives, with its many benefits and also its many challenges. We are in a stage where there are many solutions provided by technology, in various ways such as in education, business, personal lives and even our social relations,” he stated. “We need to stop for a moment and question where are we headed? What are the implications of using such solutions in our everyday lives? More importantly, we need to ask, how we can use digital innovations to build a knowledge economy to achieve sustainable development in line with the Qatar National Visions 2030. Such questions require a concerted effort from all disciplines and extensive research and studies. I believe the QU Digital Innovation Forum is an important first step for this.”
QU through its strategic plan 2018-2022, provides six key goals, including seven key strategies, that includes a digital transformation strategy, and a leadership and innovation strategy. This is in line with the state’s keenness to achieve its national vision to transform Qatar into a knowledge economy, which requires a radical change in strategies, plans and goals.
College of the North Atlantic – Qatar’s vice-president (finance and administration) Dr Salem al-Naemi observed that QU’s organisation of the forum was vital because of the importance of the issues and ideas being discussed. He hoped that the participants through the various sessions can reach concrete results that enhance the positive aspects of this “digital innovation.”
QU, in participation with the computer technology company Dell, is also hosting an exhibition on the sidelines of the event, featuring a number of leading institutions in the field. HE al-Sulaiti opened the exhibition.
بحضور سعادة السيد جاسم بن سيف السليطي وزير المواصلات والاتصالات، والدكتور حسن بن راشد الدرهم رئيس الجامعة، والدكتور إبراهيم النعيمي وكيل وزيرة التعليم والتعليم العالي، وعدد كبير من أعضاء هيئة التدريس والمهتمين بالشؤون التقنية، انطلقت أمس بجامعة قطر فعاليات ملتقى جامعة قطر الأول للابتكارات الرقمية، الذي نظمته جامعة قطر.
ويهدف هذا الملتقى إلى جمع قادة التكنولوجيا والصناعة لتبادل الآراء والأفكار حول الاتجاهات الجديدة للتكنولوجيا وأثرها في التعليم، وإتاحة الفرصة لمجتمع الجامعة من أجل استكشاف آخر التطورات التكنولوجية في التعليم.
وفي كلمته بالمناسبة، أكد الدكتور حسن بن راشد الدرهم أن تنظيم هذا الملتقى من شأنه أن يعزز إدراكنا لما يمكن أن أسميه «سيل» التقنيات المنهمر، وكيف يمكن أن نطوع ذلك في خدمة التعليم، ولجعل المستقبل أكثر إشراقاً.
وقال رئيس الجامعة: «الابتكارات الرقمية» باتت اليوم جزءاً من حياتنا، بإيجابياتها الكثيرة، وبتحدياتها أيضاً، حيث أصبحنا نتحرك من خلال حلول «تقنية» متنوعة، في التعليم، والأعمال، وحياتنا الشخصية، وحتى العلاقات الاجتماعية.
وأشار الدكتور الدرهم إلى أن جامعة قطر تقدمت كثيراً خلال آخر 10 سنوات، في مجال ربط التعليم بالبيئات التقنية الحديثة، سواء في التعليم والتعلم، أو البحث العلمي، وهو ما عزز من قوة أداء الجامعة، وهذا ما انعكس إيجاباً على تصنيف الجامعة دولياً.
وأشار إلى أن هناك الكثير من التحديات المتعلقة بالأنظمة الرقمية، من بينها «الأمن السيبراني» الذي تهتم به جامعة قطر بشكل كبير من خلال الأبحاث والدراسات، وأيضاً تلك المواجهة اللا محدودة مع سيل غير منقطع من الثقافات والأفكار والفلسفات، التي تردنا كل ثانية عبر الشبكات والمنصات.
وأكد الدكتور سالم النعيمي نائب الرئيس للشؤون الإدارية بكلية شمال الأطلنطي، أن عقد ملتقى الابتكار بجامعة قطر يعتبر في غاية لأهمية نظراً لحيوية القضايا والأفكار التي سيناقشها الملتقى، وتمنى أن يتمكن المشاركون عبر جلساته، ومنصاته المختلفة، من الوصول لنتائج تعزز الجوانب الإيجابية «للابتكارات الرقمية». وقال النعيمي: «الابتكار في التعليم أصبح حجر الزاوية في أي عملية إنتاج معرفي ناجحة، موضحاً أن الدراسات اليوم أثبتت أن أكثر من 59% من الأشخاص لديهم هواتف و80% يستخدمون وسائل الاتصال في عملهم، وهو ما يؤكد الأثر الكبير للتقنيات في حياتنا اليوم. وبعد ذلك ناقش المقصود من التحول الرقمي ونماذج ناجحة في هذا التحول في مجال النقل والاتصال وحتى في مجال التعليم العالي لخلق الطالب الرقمي، والتعامل مع التكنولوجيا الجديدة بما تتطلبه من قدرات ابتكارية».
