Engineer Jassim Fakhro, a member of the Supervision Committee on Beautification of Roads and Public Places at the Public Works Authority “Ashghal” said that the Doha Corniche development project is one of the elements of the development of the Doha Central Project and includes 3 elements.

He made it clear during our life program on Qatar TV that the first of the three elements is the development of the pedestrian path with the bicycle path and extends from the airport road to Ras Abu Aboud road and from it to Lusail through the Corniche, while the pedestrian path is along the Corniche only.

The engineer, Amna Al-Badr, Secretary of the Supervision Committee on Beautification of Roads and Public Places in the State of “Ashghal” revealed in special statements to “Al Sharq” this January that 30% of the works of the Doha Corniche development project were completed, pointing out that the completion of the project will be in the quarter The first of 2022, and it goes according to the detailed designs that were completed before implementation.

She pointed out that the project of developing the central district of Doha includes 3 important elements, namely: developing the bicycle path on the Corniche roads, developing the central Doha from the first ring “A-Ring” to the corniche, in addition to the distance from the first ring “A-Ring” to the third ring “C-Ring”.

She explained that the project includes the construction of 3 pedestrian tunnels, namely: Al-Dafna Tunnel, the Corniche Station Tunnel and the West Bay Station Tunnel, indicating that these tunnels aim to enhance the movement of pedestrians and connect the tracks to neighboring places.

Regarding the development of the Doha central area of ​​the project, the engineer, Amna Al Badr, explained that the project includes the development of 7 main areas and 6 main streets, including the development of infrastructure, squares, pedestrian paths and bicycles.

On the importance of the project, Amna Al Badr emphasized that the development of the region aims to create a healthy, community and cultural environment that enhances the walking movement by providing pedestrian-friendly transportation such as pedestrian paths and crossings, which encourages visitors to use different means of transportation and follow a healthy lifestyle.

She pointed out that the project includes the implementation of some infrastructure works and buildings for parking lots in addition to developing green spaces and public places in the central Doha region for use in creating attractive and vital places.

She noted that the project will provide upon its completion many elements of aesthetic, such as seats, booths, displays, cosmetic artworks, etc., which encourage visitors to interact in the place and enjoy the general view.

On the benefits of the project on traffic in the Corniche Street, Al-Badr considered that the completion of the Corniche development work, adding bicycle paths to it and implementing pedestrian and bicycle crossing tunnels will enhance the movement of pedestrians between the Corniche and the side related to the tunnels such as Al-Bida Park, Theater Park, and Harvest Tower, in addition to To the running track that will contribute and help physical and sporting activities use this 7 km track.

The main tasks of the committee overseeing the beautification of roads and public places in the country include establishing bridges and paths for pedestrians and bicycles, developing the Doha Corniche, building central public parks in different regions of the country, afforestation and increasing green areas, developing the central Doha region, and afforesting areas that have a low afforestation rate Operation and participation of local nurseries in projects.

وأوضح خلال برنامج حياتنا على تلفزيون قطر أن أول العناصر الثلاثة تطوير مسار المشاة مع مسار الدراجات الهوائية ويمتد من طريق المطار إلى طريق رأس أبوعبود ومنه إلى لوسيل مروراً بالكورنيش، أما مسار المشاة يكون على طول الكورنيش فقط.

وكانت المهندسة آمنة البدر، أمين سر لجنة الإشراف على تجميل الطرق والأماكن العامة بالدولة التابعة لـ “أشغال” كشفت في تصريحات خاصة لـ”الشرق” خلال يناير الجاري عن إنجاز 30 % من أعمال مشروع تطوير كورنيش الدوحة، لافتة إلى أن إنجاز المشروع سيكون في الربع الأول من 2022، وأنه يسير وفق التصاميم التفصيلية التي تم الانتهاء من وضعها قبل التنفيذ.

ولفتت إلى أن مشروع تطوير منطقة الدوحة المركزية يشمل 3 عناصر هامة وهي: تطوير مسار الدراجات الهوائية على طرق الكورنيش، وتطوير الدوحة المركزية من الدائري الأول ” A- Ring ” إلى الكورنيش، إضافة إلى المسافة  من الدائري الأول” A-Ring” حتى الدائري الثالث ” C-Ring “.

وأوضحت أن المشروع يتضمن إنشاء 3 أنفاق للمشاة وهي: نفق الدفنة ونفق محطة الكورنيش ونفق محطة الخليج الغربي، مبينة أن هذه الأنفاق تهدف إلى تعزيز حركة المشاة وربط المسارات بالأماكن المجاورة.

وفيما يتعلق بتطوير منطقة الدوحة المركزية من المشروع، أوضحت المهندسة آمنة البدر أن المشروع يتضمن تطوير 7 مناطق رئيسة و6 شوارع رئيسة بما فيها تطوير البنية التحتية والساحات ومسارات المشاة والدراجات الهوائية.

وحول أهمية المشروع، أكدت آمنة البدر أن تطوير المنطقة يهدف إلى خلق بيئة صحية ومجتمعية وثقافية تعزز حركة المشي من خلال توفير وسائل تنقُّل صديقة للمشاة كمسارات ومعابر المشاة، مما يشجع الزوار على استخدام وسائل المواصلات المختلفة واتباع نمط حياة صحي.

وأشارت إلى أن المشروع يتضمن تنفيذ بعض أعمال البينة التحتية ومباني لمواقف السيارات بالإضافة إلى تطوير المساحات الخضراء والأماكن العامة في منطقة الدوحة المركزية لاستخدامها في خلق أماكن جاذبة وحيوية.

ونوهت بأن المشروع سيوفر عند اكتماله العديد من العناصر الخدمية والجمالية كالاستراحات والمقاعد والأكشاك وشاشات العرض والأعمال الفنية التجميلية وغيرها مما يشجع الزوّار على التفاعل في المكان والاستمتاع بالمنظر العام.

وحول فوائد المشروع على حركة السير في شارع الكورنيش، اعتبرت “البدر” أن إنجاز أعمال تطوير الكورنيش وإضافة مسارات للدراجات الهوائية عليه وتنفيذ أنفاق عبور للمشاة والدراجات الهوائية سيعزز حركة التنقل للمشاة بين الكورنيش والجهة المتصلة بالأنفاق مثل حديقة البدع، وحديقة المسرح، وبرج حصاد، بالإضافة إلى مسار الركض الذي سيساهم ويساعد ممارسي الأنشطة البدنية والرياضية على استخدام هذا المسار المخصص لهم والذي يبلغ طوله 7 كم.

وتتضمن المهام الرئيسة للجنة الإشراف على تجميل الطرق والأماكن العامة بالدولة، إنشاء جسور ومسارات للمشاة والدراجات الهوائية، وتطوير كورنيش الدوحة، وبناء حدائق عامة مركزية بمناطق مختلفة في الدولة، وأعمال التشجير وزيادة المسطحات الخضراء، وتطوير منطقة الدوحة المركزية، وتشجير المناطق التي تتضمن نسبة تشجير قليلة وتشغيل ومشاركة المشاتل المحلية في المشاريع.
