Sheikh Joaan lauds Al Annabi on winning fourth consecutive title

Kuwait: The President of  Qatar Olympic Committee H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani has extended congratulations to the Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and to the Qatari people, on the national team winning 19th AHF Asian Men’s Handball Championship for the fourth consecutive time.

In the final, Qatar defeated South Korean 33-21 to win the Championship in Kuwait.

Sheikh Joaan said this achievement is the fruit of the efforts of all including the players, the technical and administrative bodies and the Qatar Handball Association (QHA).

“We are proud of our national team winning the Asian Championship title as it is a big tournament, where the team proved, excelled and strengthened its position in Asian continent. With their strong and distinguished performances during the tournament they beat all the teams they faced.” Sheikh Joaan praised the performance of the players during the matches and said: “All the players were champions and played with a high fighting spirit in all the matches throughout the tournament, stressing their competence  of winning the continental title.” 

Sheikh Joaan stressed that the team’s path in the tournament was not easy, in the group stage or in the semi-final and then the final match, as we faced strong teams that possess distinctive players, indicating that the next step is to prepare the team in the best way for the next World Championship 2021, in order to provide an excellent level from the Asian Champions.” 

Sheikh Joaan also praised the efforts of QHA in notching this achievement, and said:  “Everyone has made a great effort throughout the past period in order to realize the achievement and raise the flag of Qatar high, and we are waiting for the best from them in the next World Cup Championship”.

Meanwhile, QHA President Ahmed Mohammed Al Shaabi also praised the handball team for winning the Asian Championship.

Al Shaabi said in a statement  that the national team’s winning of the title is the culmination of the continuous support and encouragement that QHA receives from the wise leadership of Qatar.

Al Shaabi noted that the team Qatar achieved many gains through participating in this championship, as they succeeded in regaining their prestige in the Asian continent only two months after losing the qualification race to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, adding that the tournament confirmed the team’s dominance of Asian handball in recent years.

“The team had their eyes focussed on the title, no matter whatever the difficulties and challenges, and I believe that whoever wants to win any title must exceed against all the teams on the way towards achieving the goal,” added Al Shaabi.

“The biggest proof of our eligibility for this title is that we beat teams who are some of the best in business in Asia including the Japanese team in the first stage, and then we defeated the Bahraini team in the semi-final, and then beating South Korean team twice, the first time in the initial stage and the second time in the final,” he added.

تقدم سعادة الشيخ جوعان بن حمد آل ثاني رئيس اللجنة الأولمبية القطرية، بالتهاني إلى حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى وإلى الشعب القطري، بمناسبة إحراز المنتخب الوطني الأول لكرة اليد لقب البطولة الآسيوية للمرة الرابعة على التوالي ، بعد فوزه مساء اليوم على المنتخب الكوري الجنوبي (33 – 21) في المباراة النهائية للبطولة التي أقيمت في الكويت.

وقال سعادته إن هذا الإنجاز هو ثمرة تكاتف جهود الجميع من اللاعبين والجهازين الفني والإداري والاتحاد القطري لكرة اليد، مضيفا، “نحن فخورون بحصول منتخبنا الوطني على لقب البطولة الآسيوية حيث إنها بطولة كبيرة، وأثبت الأدعم تفوقه وعزز مكانته على عرش القارة الآسيوية، وذلك بالعروض القوية والمتميزة التي قدمها خلال مشواره في البطولة بالفوز على جميع المنتخبات التي واجهها”.

وأشاد بأداء اللاعبين خلال المباريات وقال: جميع لاعبي الأدعم كانوا أبطالا ولعبوا بروح قتالية عالية في كل المباريات التي خاضها منتخبنا في البطولة، مؤكدين جدارتهم بالإنجاز القاري.

وأكد سعادة الشيخ جوعان بن حمد آل ثاني بأن مشوار المنتخب في البطولة لم يكن سهلا سواء في دور المجموعات أو مباراتي نصف النهائي ثم النهائي حيث واجهنا فرقا قوية تمتلك عناصر مميزة، مشيرا إلى أن الخطوة المقبلة تتمثل في إعداد المنتخب بأفضل صورة لبطولة العالم المقبلة 2021 من أجل تقديم مستوى مشرف لأبطال آسيا.

كما أثنى سعادته على جهود الاتحاد القطري لكرة اليد في صناعة هذا الإنجاز، وقال: “لقد بذل الجميع جهدا كبيرا طوال الفترة الماضية من أجل تحقيق الإنجاز ورفع علم قطر عاليا، وننتظر منهم الأفضل في بطولة كأس العالم المقبلة إن شاء الله”.
