Ooredoo announces Platinum Sponsorship of Hejen Racing Festival

Ooredoo yesterday announced that it would be the Platinum Sponsor of the upcoming Hejen Racing Festival, set to be held at the Al Shahaniya camel racing track. The agreement was signed by Yusuf Abdulla Al Kubaisi, Chief Operating Officer, Ooredoo Qatar and Abdullah Al Kuwari, Vice-chairman of Camel Racing Organizing Committee.
The Hejen Racing Festival is one of the most popular racing events in the region, attracting entrants from across Qatar and further afield from neighbouring Gulf states. Some 5,000 camels from Qatar and the Arabian Gulf participated in last year’s event, in races ranging in distance from 4km to 8km.
The Hejen Festival is designed to celebrate the vibrant culture of Qatar and the Gulf region, as well as to promote cultural values such as honour and good sportsmanship. The event features eight races held over a number of days, and the final race is considered the most prestigious with the winner being awarded the sword from Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
Speaking about the event, Yusuf Abdulla Al Kubaisi, Chief Operating Officer, Ooredoo Qatar, said: “We’re delighted to be renewing our sponsorship of this invaluable event, in line with our promise to support community events in line with our corporate social responsibility strategy. The Festival is a unique way in which we can celebrate integral elements of Qatari culture, and we look forward to seeing some incredible racing over the course of the event.”
أعلنت Ooredoo أنها ستكون الراعي البلاتيني لمهرجان سباق الهجن العربية الأصيلة على سيف حضرة صاحب السمو أمير البلاد المفدى وصاحب السمو الأمير الوالد، والذي سيقام على مضمار الشحانية لسباق الهجن.
وقد وقع اتفاقية الرعاية من جانب Ooredoo، السيد يوسف عبدالله الكبيسي، رئيس العمليات، ومن جانب اللجنة المنظمة لسباقات الهجن، السيد عبدالله محمد الكواري، نائب رئيس اللجنة المنظمة، ويُعدُ المهرجان السنوي لسباق الهجن العربية الأصيلة في قطر من بين أشهر سباقات الهجن على مستوى المنطقة، ويشارك فيه عدد من أفضل الهجن الأصيلة الحائزة على الجوائز. إذ شارك في نسخة العام الماضي من المهرجان حوالي 5000 من الهجن ومئات المضمرين من قطر، ومن دول الخليج الأخرى، ويتضمن المهرجان عدداً من السباقات لمسافات 4 و6 و8 كلم، فيما يعتبر السباق النهائي هو الأكثر أهمية حيث سيتم تقليد الفائز بذلك السباق بسيف صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى.
يذكر أن رعاية Ooredoo لنسخة المهرجان هذا العام تأتي امتداداً للدعم والرعاية التي قدمتها الشركة للحدث على مدار السنوات السابقة، وذلك لما يتمتع به الحدث من أهمية كبيرة كونه يمثل أحد أوجه التراث القطري الأصيل.
