Katara Hospitality — the global hotel owner, developer and operator based in Qatar — yesterday announced the launch of a new concept, the first in the region, as part of its commitment towards developing the hotel industry and enriching the tourism experience in the State of Qatar.
Whimsy combines award-winning international chefs with state of the art 360 projection technology into an epicurean journey that is out of this world. On this occasion, Andrew Humphries, Acting Chief Executive Offcer, said: “Qatar is witnessing unprecedented growth in high-level hospitality projects, thanks to the economic growth that has allowed hotels to increase. With the challenge of providing innovative services, comes our commitment to invest in the development of the tourism industry and enhance Qatar’s hospitality sector. It is one of the most important aspects of investment, which should be considered as one of the largest sectors contributing to the global GDP, which has made it one of the most important sources of capital bringing economic growth forward.
He added: “Tourism plays a role in increasing the capacity of productive countries and stimulating the movement of industrial production and investment in other sectors. Such tourism initiatives are an integral part of the total investment of any country to maximize the impact of tourism investment on other sectors.”

In 2017, Katara Hospitality worked on a comprehensive refurbishment of the Ritz-Carlton, Doha, which is the first luxury five-star hotel to open in Qatar — in 2001. It strengthened the new design of the 374 guest rooms, to reflect the hotel’s refined atmosphere and its distinctive hospitality. This large-scale transformation included the modernisation of all guest rooms, the spa and the VIP club lounge, as a step to redefine the luxury of the city’s business centre.
The hotel, owned by Katara Hospitality, is an important landmark and iconic symbol of Qatar. The concept of restaurants located in the hotel, including B-Lounge and STK (Steakhouse) and others, has been redeveloped during the renovation phase, as today the hotel has become the first destination for visitors to the State of Qatar.

وأضاف:”يُنظر للاستثمار في القطاع السياحي بمختلف أشكاله كأحد أوجه الاستثمار الفاعل والذي يتوجب الاهتمام به كونه من أكبر القطاعات مساهمةً بالناتج المحلي العالمي، الأمر الذي جعله من أهم مصادر جلب رؤوس الأموال والذي يدفع عجلة النمو الاقتصادي للأمام. ومساهمته في تلبية احتياجات باقي القطاعات وخدمة الاقتصاد الوطني وهو ما يجعل توليه عناية خاصة. فللسياحة دور في زيادة طاقات الدول الإنتاجية وتنشيط حركة الإنتاج الصناعي والاستثمار في القطاعات الأخرى، وتمثل مثل هذه المبادرات السياحية جزء لا يتجزأ من الاستثمار الكلي لأي دولة، لتحقيق الاستفادة القصوى من الأثر المضاعف للاستثمار السياحي على باقي القطاعات.”

وقد عملت كتارا للضيافة في 2017 على تجديد شامل لفندق الريتز-كارلتون، الدوحة والذي يعتبر أوّل فندق فاخر من فئة خمس نجوم تم افتتاحه بقطر سنة 2001. حيث عزّز التصميم الجديد لغرف الضيوف والتي يبلغ عددها 374 غرفة، ليعكس جوّ الفندق الراقي وفخامة ضيافته المتميزة. وشمل هذا التحوّل واسع النطاق تحديث غرف الضيوف كافة والمنتجع الصحي وردهة نادي كبار الضيوف، كخطوة لإعادة تعريف فخامة مركز أعمال المدينة. ويشكل الفندق الشهير والذي تمتلكه كتارا للضيافة معلما هاما ورمزًا مبهرًا في دولة قطر. حيث تم خلال مرحلة التجديد إعادة تطوير مفاهيم المطاعم المتواجدة في الفندق والتي تعتبر الأولي في قطر من بينها بي-لاونج و إي.ستي.كي (مطعم الستيك) وإلى غيرها، حيث اصبح الفندق اليوم الوجهة الأولى لزوار دولة قطر. إن قطاع الضيافة في قطر في ازدهار مستمر وخصوصاً بعدما نجحت قطر في جذب أهم الفعاليات العالمية. ومع تنامي القطاع السياحي بشكل كبير وارتفاع الطلب على خدمات الضيافة فإن كتارا للضيافة تعمل على تلبية هذه الطلبات من خلال التركيز على تنمية وتطوير فنادقها.
