First TEDxYouth meet launched in Qatar
إنطلاق أول اجتماع TEDxYouth في قطر
With great youth efforts and in partnership with a group of educational institutions and leading companies in Qatar, TEDxYouth was launched during the weekend at Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar.
TEDxYouth Al Dafna, a day-long event for middle and high school students, included live speakers, hands-on activities and great conversations.
The Organising Committee has received more than 80 students to audition for the conference and conducted a set of performance experiences for the applicants, with a choice of six speakers with various speeches of interest to the targeted group of youth under the age of 20years.
The list of speakers included Yousef Al Maliki, student from the secondary stage, Mohamed Khalid, Engineering student in Education City, in addition to the brilliant media presenter Asma Al Hammadi, Ola Hijjawi from the Astronomy Branch of Qatar University Alumni Association, and Alia Issam El Din, Teaching Assistant at Carnegie Mellon University Qatar, and Dr Anwar Fathallah, the most active translator on the TED platform.
The six speakers provided an eclectic day of presentations, each taking less than 18 minutes under the TED organisational guidelines.
This conference youth edition is distinguished by being a student initiative fully organised by volunteers from high school students and some undergraduate students, besides the basic speeches the conference also included a group of training workshops, an interactive exhibition, and a media competition targeting high school students.
The conference comes in partnership with the most prominent educational institutions in Qatar, where the QatarDebate Center participated as an organisational partner, Teach for Qatar as an educational partner, and Qatar Charity as a community partner. Ibtikar Technology Solutions also participated as a franchise partner, and Virginia Commonwealth University as a hosting partner.
The conference partnerships also contributed to providing interesting and distinguished content through the training workshops and interactive exhibition, with the aim of enriching the experience of the participating students and developing their skills in various fields.
TEDx is a subset of TED conferences, all independently organized on the local community level. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.
At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
بجهود شبابية حثيثة، وبشراكة مع مجموعة من المؤسسات التعليمية والشركات الرائدة في قطر، انطلق مؤتمر تيدإكس الدفنة الشبابي في نسخته الأولى يوم السبت الماضي، في حرم جامعة فيرجينيا كومنولث في المدينة التعليمية. وتهدف هذه النسخة من المؤتمر إلى الوصول لطلبة المدارس الإعدادية والثانوية في قطر، لتتيح لهم فرصة الانضمام إلى مجتمع مؤتمرات تيدإكس المشهورة عالمياً، ويقدم المؤتمر محتوى فريداً من قبل أفراد وشباب شغوفين من المجتمع المحلي، فقد اختير المحتوى بعناية لتلبية احتياجاتهم.
وأكد مسؤولو مركز قطر للمناظرات -الشريك التنظيمي للمؤتمر- أهمية هذه المبادرة الشبابية، وأعربوا عن فخرهم بجميع الجهود الشبابية التي ساهمت في تنظيم المؤتمر، وذلك لما قدمه من فرص قيادية وتطوعية للشباب، وطرحه للأفكار بطريقة إبداعية تساهم في توعية الشباب وتحفيزهم.
كما أكد مسؤولو «قطر الخيرية» -الشريك المجتمعي للمؤتمر- «أن التعاون مع مؤتمر تيدإكس الدفنة الشبابي كشريك مجتمعي، جاء تحقيقاً لأهدافها في نشر ثقافة العمل التطوعي والإنساني في أوساط الشباب من طلبة المدارس والجامعات، والإسهام في إكسابهم مهاراته المختلفة».
وقد استقبلت اللجنة المنظمة ما يزيد عن 80 طالباً للتحدث في المؤتمر، وأجرت مجموعة من تجارب الأداء للمتقدمين، ليقع الاختيار على 6 متحدثين بخطابات متنوعة، تهم الفئة المستهدفة من الشباب تحت العشرين سنة.
وتتميز هذه النسخة الشبابية من المؤتمر بكونها مبادرة طلابية منظمة بشكل كامل من قبل متطوعين من طلاب المرحلة الثانوية وبعض الطلبة الجامعيين، وبكونها تضم إلى جانب الخطابات الأساسية مجموعة من الورش التدريبية، ومعرضاً تفاعلياً، ومسابقة إعلامية تستهدف طلاب المرحلة الثانوية.
وقال محمد حمزة السيوفي المدير التنفيذي للمؤتمر -وهو طالب في مدرسة مصعب بن عمير الثانوية للبنين-: «سعينا في اللجنة المنظمة للمؤتمر إلى إشراك الشباب في جميع التفاصيل، لافتاً إلى أن حضور المؤتمر هم من الشباب، وأن بعض المتحدثين وجميع العاملين على التخطيط والتنفيذ واختيار المتحدثين ينتمون إلى فئة الشباب».
وأكدت موزة الهاجري طالبة الصف العاشر من مدرسة البيان الثانوية، ومقدمة حفل المؤتمر، أن المؤتمر يمثل الفرصة المثالية لإبراز فئة الشباب في المجتمع، وأن إبداع وأفكار وطموحات هذه الفئة كان الدافع الرئيسي لتنظيم حدث لامع ومؤثر، لافتة إلى أن المؤتمر استطاع أن يترك بصمة إيجابية في نفوس جميع من عمل وحضر المؤتمر، سواء من خلال مشاركة خبرات الآخرين والتفاعل معهم أو عن طريق المساهمة الفاعلة في إحياء الحدث من قبل المتطوعين والمنظمين.
وقال الطالب يوسف المالكي -ثانوية عمر بن الخطاب- والذي قدم خطاباً عن النجاح والفشل وعلاقته بالصحة النفسية: «إن ملتقى تيدإكس ناجح بكل المقاييس وبشهادة الجميع، فقد أتاح الفرصة لفئة من الشباب لتقديم خطابات متنوعة تلائم رغباتهم وميولهم».
