Kigali: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani left on Monday evening the Rwandan capital, Kigali.
His Highness was seen off at Kigali International Airport by HE President of the Republic of Rwanda Paul Kagame, HE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Rwanda Vincent Biruta, Mayor of Kigali Pudence Rubingisa, and HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Rwanda Abdullah Mohammed Al Sayed.
Earlier the Amir and the President of Rwanda Paul Kagame attended the signing of three agreements between the governments of the two countries, on the sidelines of Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence Award ceremony held at Kigali Convention Centre on Monday.
The Amir and the Rwandan President attended the signing of an acquisition agreement of 60% of Bugesera Airport shares, a shareholders’ agreement and a guarantee agreement between Qatar Airways and the Rwandan air transport company.
The signing ceremonies were attended by Their Excellencies members of the official delegation accompanying HH the Amir and a number of Their Excellencies Rwandan ministers and ranking officials.
The President praised the vision of the Amir which was behind the creation of the “Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence Award”.
In his speech at the award ceremony, the President described the fourth edition of the award as very important, adding that the award indicates the importance of the battle that countries are fighting to combat corruption.
The Rwandan President thanked HH the Amir and the United Nations for choosing Kigali to host the fourth edition of the award ceremony.
He also applauded the unveiling of the fourth edition of the sculpture of “Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence Award”, which was held in the park of the Kigali Convention Center.
He said that the sculpture symbolizes both the openness and the firm resolve needed to prevail in the fight against corruption, expressing pride to place it in the capital, Kigali. Rwanda has already started the anti-corruption journey, so this event will be an encouragement to end it, he added.
The Rwandan President congratulated the award winners for this year, and all the candidates as well, saying “Collectively, you represent the very best of the fearless spirit and determination required to sustain zero tolerance against corruption.”
حضر صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى، حفل تكريم الفائزين بالنسخة الرابعة من “جائزة الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني الدولية للتميز في مكافحة الفساد” الذي أقيم في مركز كيغالي الدولي للمؤتمرات اليوم، بحضور فخامة الرئيس بول كاغامي رئيس جمهورية رواندا، وفخامة الرئيس حاجي غينغوب رئيس جمهورية ناميبيا.
حضر الحفل، كل من سعادة السيد موسى فكي رئيس مفوضية الاتحاد الإفريقي، وسعادة السيد جياني انفانتينو رئيس الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم (فيفا)، وسعادة السيدة أمينة محمد نائب الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة، والسيد جون براندلينو من مكتب الأمم المتحدة المعني بالمخدرات والجريمة، وعدد من أعضاء اللجنة العليا والمجلس الاستشاري لاختيار الفائزين بالجائزة وعدد من الشخصيات الدولية في مجال الجائزة.
