UDC awards contracts for construction of Gewan Island entrance bridge
«المتحدة للتنمية» تمنح عقد بناء جسر مدخل «جيوان»
United Development Company (UDC), the master developer of The Pearl-Qatar and Gewan Island, has tasked Midmac & Porr Joint Venture with the construction of Gewan Island’s entrance bridge.
The joint venture will undertake the construction of the cable-stayed bridge spanning 250 metres, which rests on two pylons 43m above The Pearl-Qatar’s Boulevard, connecting the Lusail Expressway and The Pearl-Qatar’s Boulevard to Gewan Island.
The bridge and the two pylons will feature motifs, decorative lighting, and rose gold finishes, which complement Gewan Island’s character. The construction works will kick off on November 30 and are due for completion by August 2021.
UDC also awarded KEO International the contract for the consultancy of supervision services for the main entrance bridge works, infrastructure works, building, and landscape works at Gewan Island.
UDC President and CEO Ibrahim Jassim al-Othman, who is also member of the board, said: “The contract for the construction of Gewan Island’s entrance bridge and the contract for the consultancy of supervision services for the main entrance bridge works, infrastructure works, building, and landscape works at Gewan Island mark the latest milestones in the ongoing development of Gewan Island after UDC awarded the contract for the completion of the second phase of the Island’s marine works. The design and construction of this bridge will be a landmark and an architectural and engineering masterpiece after the completion of the construction works.”
Earlier this year, UDC awarded contracts for the completion of the second phase of the marine works at Gewan Island, and signed an agreement with QNB and Commercial Bank to finance the development of the island. The Gewan Island project has successfully reached approximately 1mn site working hours without any Loss Time Injuries (LTI).
Gewan Island, UDC’s latest real-estate project, is situated next to The Pearl-Qatar, spanning 400,000sq m. Once completed, the island will accommodate 3,500 residents and a similar number of daily visitors.
It will be home to 712 residential units, including 641 apartments and 20 standalone villas located along a placid beach in a quiet and gated seaside community, as well as 21 beachfront villas with private beach and 26 waterfront villas that are equipped with private pontoons for private boats, in addition to 11,000sq m of retail spaces and several multi-use buildings.
The island, which derives its name from the full-round, pink-tinted and perfectly shaped pearl, a symbol of Qatar’s maritime heritage, is designed to attract those seeking an urbane and vibrant international lifestyle.
Gewan Island will feature a golf course, an air conditioned ‘Crystal Walkway’ outdoor promenade, parks, and green areas, which will play a major role in attracting various new brands to Doha. The island will also be home to entertainment facilities, a sports club, and a mosque.
The island’s design incorporates a number of sustainability features to reduce the use of vehicles and encourage walking and biking through dedicated pedestrian and cycling networks, in addition to roads connecting the Island to a proposed public transportation network. The island is also designed to reduce urban heat by incorporating green roofs, shading, and reflective surfaces.
أعلنت الشركة المتحدة للتنمية -المطوّر الرئيسي لجزيرتَي اللؤلؤة-قطر وجيوان- عن منح تحالف شركتي «مدماك» و«بور» عقد أعمال إنشاء الجسر الرئيسي لمدخل جزيرة جيوان، بحيث سيتولى تحالف الشركتين أعمال إنشاء الجسر الرئيسي بتصميم فريد معلّق بكابلات.
ويبلغ طول الجسر 250 متراً، ويستند إلى برجين يعلوان 43 متراً فوق بولفارد اللؤلؤة-قطر، ويصل طريق لوسيل السريع وبولفارد اللؤلؤة-قطر بجزيرة جيوان. وسيتم تزيين الجسر والأبراج الحاملة بالزخارف، والإضاءة والتشطيبات باللونين الذهبي والوردي، بما يتوافق مع الجو العام لجزيرة جيوان، على أن تبدأ أعمال البناء في 30 نوفمبر 2019، وتنتهي في أغسطس 2021.
كما منحت الشركة المتحدة للتنمية عقداً لشركة «KEO» الدولية للاستشارات، لخدمات الإشراف على أعمال المدخل الرئيسي وأعمال البنية التحتية وأعمال البناء وأعمال الزراعة التجميلية والأرصفة الخارجية في جزيرة جيوان.
مرحلة بارزة
وتعليقاً على هذه الإنجازات، صرّح السيد إبراهيم جاسم العثمان، الرئيس التنفيذي وعضو مجلس إدارة الشركة المتحدة للتنمية، قائلاً: «يشكّل عقد بناء جسر مدخل جزيرة جيوان وعقد الإشراف على أعمال المدخل الرئيسي وأعمال البنية التحتية وأعمال البناء وأعمال الزراعة التجميلية والأرصفة الخارجية في جزيرة جيوان، أحدث المراحل البارزة في أعمال التطوير المستمرة في جزيرة جيوان، بعدما أرست الشركة المتحدة للتنمية عقد إنجاز الأعمال البحرية في الجزيرة».
وأضاف السيد العثمان: «سيشكّل تصميم وتنفيذ هذا الجسر علامة مميّزة وتحفة معمارية وهندسية فائقة الروعة عند الاكتمال من البناء».
وفي وقت سابق من العام الحالي، أرست الشركة المتحدة للتنمية عقود تلزيم المرحلة الثانية من الأعمال البحرية في جزيرة جيوان، كما وقّعت اتفاقية مع «QNB» والبنك التجاري لتمويل تطوير الجزيرة.
إنجاز
وتجدر الإشارة إلى أن مشروع جزيرة «جيوان» قد نجح في الوصول إلى ما يقارب مليون ساعة عمل في الموقع دون وقوع أي إصابات. وتقع جزيرة جيوان -وهي أحدث المشاريع العقارية التابعة للشركة المتحدة للتنمية- بمحاذاة جزيرة اللؤلؤة-قطر، وتمتدّ على مساحة 400,000 متر مربع. وعند اكتمال العمل بها سوف تستوعب 3,500 ساكن، وعدداً مماثلاً من الزوار يومياً. وستضمّ الجزيرة 712 وحدة سكنية، بما في ذلك 641 شقة، و20 فيلا مستقلّة مطلّة على شاطئ هادئ ضمن محيط مُسيّج بمحاذاة البحر، فضلاً عن 21 فيلا تتمتّع بشاطئ خاص، و26 فيلا تقع على حافة المياه ومزوّدة بأرصفة عائمة، و6 فلل واقعة على جزر مستقلة، بالإضافة إلى 11,000 متر مربع من محلات البيع بالتجزئة، وعدد من المباني المتعددة الاستخدامات.
وستضم الجزيرة نادي جولف وممشى الكريستال الخارجي المكيّف، ومنتزهات ومناطق خضراء، ما من شأنه جذب مختلف العلامات التجارية المتميزة إلى الدوحة. كما ستوفّر الجزيرة مرافق ترفيهية ونادي رياضي ومسجد.
