FIFA president: Qatar will host unforgettable 2022 World Cup

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has said that Qatar will host an unforgettable edition of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, pointing out that holding the World Cup in November and December will be in favour of the tournament and the players.
Technically, it will be an amazing championship since the players will reach the tournament at their best physical and technical levels because of its timing, Infantino said in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.
This will be better than going into the tournament after a hard season when it takes place in the summer, Infantino said, adding that all the tournament matches will be played within 70km, which is positive.
The FIFA president said that the tournament will be exceptional and we will discover part of the world that we did not all know, stressing that he is fully convinced that the stadiums would be full of fans.
It takes only five or six hours to travel from Europe to Qatar, he added.
In his interview with the Italian newspaper, Infantino also spoke of his idea of holding the 2026 World Cup with 48 teams, saying the World Cup is the peoples’ championship, and in Russia there was no Italy, not even the Netherlands, the United States, Chile or Cameroon.
He added that his responsibility is to open the World Cup and make it more engaged.
The FIFA president also touched on racism in the stadiums saying we must not hide the problem, and we must condemn it in all its forms and we must act concretely, while thanking the President of the Italian Football Association Gabriele Gravina for moving forward with new rules and sanctions.
On Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology, Infantino said we must realise that the referee’s job is very difficult.

أكد السيد جياني إنفانتينو رئيس الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم “الفيفا”، أن دولة قطر ستستضيف نسخة لا تنسى من كأس العالم لكرة القدم 2022 ، مبينا أن إقامة المونديال بين شهري نوفمبر وديسمبر سيصب في صالح البطولة واللاعبين.
وقال إنفانتينو ،في حوار أجرته معه صحيفة “لا جازيتا ديللو سبورت”، “إنه من الناحية الفنية ستكون بطولة مذهلة، لأن اللاعبين سيصلون إلى البطولة في أفضل مستوياتهم البدنية والفنية بسبب توقيت إقامتها”.
وأضاف إنفانتينو ” هذا أفضل من خوض البطولة بعد موسم شاق عندما تقام في فصل الصيف ” ، موضحا أن مباريات البطولة كلها ستقام في مسافة سبعين كيلومترا، وهذا أمر إيجابي.
وأشار رئيس “الفيفا” إلى أن هذه البطولة ستكون استثنائية وسنكتشف من خلالها جزءا من العالم لم نكن نعرفه جميعا، مؤكدا أنه على قناعة تامة بأن الملاعب ستكون مملوءة بالجماهير، ويستغرق الأمر خمس أو ست ساعات فقط للسفر من أوروبا إلى قطر.
كما تحدث إنفانتينو ،خلال حواره مع الصحيفة الايطالية، عن فكرته بإقامة نسخة 2026 من كأس العالم بمشاركة 48 فريقا، قائلا “إن كأس العالم هي بطولة الشعوب، وفي روسيا لم يكن هناك إيطاليا، ولا حتى هولندا، أو الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية أو شيلي أو الكاميرون، فمسؤوليتنا هي فتح كأس العالم وجعله أكثر انخراطًا”.
كما تطرق رئيس “الفيفا” إلى موضوع العنصرية داخل الملاعب، قائلا “يجب ألا نخفي المشكلة، وأن ندينها بكل أشكالها، والتصرف بشكل ملموس حيالها” ، موجها الشكر إلى السيد جابريللي جرافينا رئيس الاتحاد الإيطالي لكرة القدم على المضي قدماً بقواعد وعقوبات جديدة”.
وأضاف “نحتاج إلى أن نتعامل مع المشكلة على محمل الجد وإذا كانت هناك رياضة يمكنها توحيد الثقافات دون التفكير في لون البشرة، فهذه هي كرة القدم ومن الممكن اليوم تحديد هوية الأشخاص الذين يقومون بمثل هذه التصرفات”.
وبشأن تقنية الفيديو “الفار”، قال إنفانتينو، “يجب إدراك أن عمل الحكام صعب للغاية، فهؤلاء هم الأبطال والقدرة على مساعدتهم بشكل ملموس هو شيء جميل” ، مؤكدا أن كرة القدم بفضل تقنية “الفار” أكثر جمالا وعدلا ونظافة.
