QRCS, Turkish counterpart discuss promoting cooperation
الهلال الأحمر القطري يناقش تعزيز التعاون مع نظيره التركي
A delegation from the Turkish Red Crescent visited Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) yesterday, as part of a short stay in Qatar to hold meetings with government organisations and NGOs.
The delegation comprised with Dr. Ibrahim Altan, Director-General, Yasir Feten, Adviser to the General Manager, Rafa Al-Turkmane, Chairman of Basiret Foundation and Advisor to the General Manager, and Ubaidullah Saken, Financing Fund Manager.
They were received by Ali bin Hassan Al Hammadi, Secretary-General of QRCS, Adel Al Baker, Director of the Office of QRCS President, and Dr. Fawzi Oussedik, Head of International Relations.
Al Hammadi welcomed the guests and highlighted the close relations between the two countries and organisations, in light of their common humanitarian mission.
Dr. Altan wished to see stronger cooperation in many fields in the most affected areas, particularly for Syrians both in Syria and Turkey. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) is prepared to extend the license of QRCS’ representation mission in Gaziantep for five years.
The two parties agreed to sign a broader framework agreement to work together on aid projects for the victims of disasters and conflict. The new pact will ensure closer coordination, avoidance of duplication, and access to as many beneficiaries as possible.
The proposed projects to be implemented included economic empowerment, water system repair, and establishment of social care centres for women and children, in coordination with government authorities.
QRCS Secretary-General also visited international event at Hamad bin Khalifa University (HBKU) College of Islamic Studies (CIS), Education City. Al Hammadi took a tour of the Maker Majlis: Islam in a Global World, an event that attracts wide local and international attendance.
There is a section for QRCS, where the volunteers communicate with the visitors. Also, the shelter tents and field hospital are displayed as innovative equipment used in relief operations.
Dr. Mohamed Evren Tok, Assistant Dean for Innovation and Community Engagement at CIS, said: “Over the period from September 22 to 25 , we hold an event called ‘Maker Majlis: Islam in a Global World’. The idea behind this event is to bring the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to a Qatari majlis. So, the venue is designed like a large majlis area, with a lot of organisations representing humanitarian action in the Muslim world, social entrepreneurship, and different organisations that revolve around youth empowerment, capacity-building, and also entrepreneurship.
He said that QRCS has been a very crucial and very supportive organisation, by providing a refugee tent experience. The students and the public in the morning and afternoon are going to see the refugee camp experience and better connect what they are discussing in Maker Majlis with the real-world experience.
The opening of the event will be attended by Minister of State, H E Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kawari. Afterwards, the event will end with the distribution of the SDG awards, which is happening for the first time in Qatar.
اجتمع السيد علي بن حسن الحمادي، الأمين العام للهلال الأحمر القطري، اليوم، مع وفد من الهلال الأحمر التركي، يزور البلاد حاليا.
وجرى خلال الاجتماع مناقشة سبل تعزيز التعاون بين الجانبين.
ونوه السيد علي الحمادي، خلال الاجتماع، بالعلاقات التي تجمع الهلال الأحمر القطري بنظيره التركي، وبالرسالة الإنسانية المشتركة التي يضطلعان بها.. فيما أعرب أعضاء الوفد التركي عن رغبتهم الصادقة في تطوير العلاقات القائمة بين الجانبين في العديد من المجالات بالمناطق الأكثر احتياجا، مع تكثيف المساعدات المقدمة للأشقاء السوريين سواء في الداخل السوري أو في الأراضي التركية، من خلال بعثة الهلال الأحمر القطري التمثيلية في مدينة غازي عنتاب جنوبي تركيا.
وأشاروا في هذا الصدد إلى الانتهاء من ترتيبات تجديد اتفاقية التعاون بين الطرفين ليستمر العمل بها لمدة 5 أعوام مقبلة.
وقد اتفق الجانبان على توقيع اتفاقية إطارية قريبا، تكون ذات نطاق أوسع من التعاون في مشاريع مشتركة لفائدة المتضررين من الكوارث والنزاعات، حيث يعمل الهلال الأحمر التركي في 13 بلدا، ما يجعل التعاون بين الجانبين مفيدا في تعزيز التكامل والتنسيق، وتجنب تضارب الجهود، والوصول إلى أكبر عدد ممكن من المستفيدين.
كما ناقش الاجتماع عدة مقترحات لمشاريع إنسانية لصالح الأشقاء السوريين في مجالات التمكين الاقتصادي وإصلاح مرافق المياه وإقامة مراكز رعاية الشباب والأطفال والنساء، وذلك بالتنسيق مع الجهات الرسمية في تركيا.
