Karwa secures 2,600 buses for transporting 60,000 students

Doha: The Follow-up Committee of the National Traffic Safety reviewed with the representatives of Mowasalat company (Karwa) the plans emanating from the 15 national road safety strategy and the cooperation between the company and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in this regard.
Director of Public Health and Vice-Chairman of the Follow-up Committee, Dr. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin J Al Thani said that Karwa secured 2,600 buses to transport about 60,000 students in different regions of the country, in addition to its efforts to encourage the use of public transport to reduce traffic congestion and accidents.
A range of projects have also been reviewed, such as the ‘Karwa Bus’ application, which demonstrates bus routes and is interactively connected with users and control room to monitor the bus traffic and the drivers’ performance.
The company’s representatives stressed the importance it attaches to qualifying and preparing drivers with a high level of efficiency by enrolling them into a series of programmes and courses to obtain a licence and identify tourist places and important landmarks in Qatar.
They also stressed on making drivers familiar with the art of dealing with passengers, and others to update their knowledge of traffic laws and legislation in cooperation with the Traffic Department.
Karwa is also cooperating with Doha Metro through the Metro link project.
At the end of the meeting, the Committee underlined the importance of joint and effective work with the ministries and various authorities in the country to achieve the objectives of the national traffic safety strategy, which contributes to reducing traffic accidents, in addition to the need to take some measures related to the Karwa bus stops.
The National Committee for Traffic Safety seeks to reduce road accidents by employing all the potential of the State through educational and qualification programs, to raise the level of traffic awareness of the community, and to strengthen the role of national institutions through the implementation of its objectives towards the achievement of the long-term national vision for traffic safety.
استعرضت لجنة المتابعة المنبثقة من اللجنة الوطنية للسلامة المرورية مع ممثلي شركة مواصلات كروة الخطط المنبثقة عن الاستراتيجية الوطنية للسلامة المرورية، والبالغ عددها 15 خطة، والتعاون بين الشركة ووزارة التعليم والتعليم العالي في هذا الصدد.
وأوضح ممثلو كروة خلال الاجتماع برئاسة الشيخ الدكتور محمد بن حمد آل ثاني مدير إدارة الصحة العامة بوزارة الصحة العامة، نائب رئيس لجنة المتابعة، أن الشركة قامت بتأمين 2600 حافلة لنقل حوالي 60000 طالب بمختلف مناطق الدولة، فضلا عن جهودها في تشجيع استخدام النقل العام لتخفيف الازدحام المروري والتقليل من نسبة الحوادث.
كما تم استعراض مجموعة من المشاريع منها اطلاق تطبيق حافلات كروة الذي يوضح مسارات الباصات، ويرتبط بشكل تفاعلي مع المستخدمين، وكذلك غرفة التحكم لضبط سير الباصات وجودة أداء السائقين.
وأكد ممثلو الشركة على الأهمية التي توليها فيما يعنى بتأهيل وإعداد سائقين على مستوى عالٍ من الكفاءة بإخضاعهم لسلسة من البرامج والدورات للحصول على الرخصة والتعرف على الأماكن السياحية والمعالم الهامة في قطر، وكذلك دورات فن التعامل مع الركاب ، وأخرى لتحديث معرفتهم بالقوانين والتشريعات المرورية بالتعاون مع الإدارة العامة للمرور، إلى جانب عمل الشركة بتغذية مترو الدوحة من خلال مشروع مترو لينك .
وتم في ختام الاجتماع التوصية بأهمية العمل المشترك والفاعل مع الوزارات والجهات المختلفة بالدولة لتحقيق أهداف الاستراتيجية الوطنية للسلامة المرورية ، ما يسهم في تقليل نسبة الحوادث المرورية وضحاياها على مستوى قطر، إضافة إلى التوصية بضرورة اتخاذ بعض الإجراءات المتعلقة بمواقف باصات كروة على الطرق.
تجدر الإشارة إلى أن اللجنة الوطنية للسلامة المرورية تسعى إلى الحد من حوادث الطرق من خلال توظيف كافة إمكانيات الدولة عبر البرامج التثقيفية والتأهيلية، لرفع مستوى الوعي المروري للمجتمع، وتعزيز دور المؤسسات الوطنية من خلال تنفيذ أهدافها نحو تحقيق الرؤية القطرية طويلة المدى للسلامة المرورية.
