Doha 2019: ministers visit Khalifa International Stadium

In the presence of HE the Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee of IAAF World Athletics Championships Doha 2019 Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani, HE the Minister of Culture and Sports Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al-Ali and HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mohamed Abdul Wahed Ali al-Hammadi visited yesterday Khalifa International Stadium which will host the championship competitions due to kick off on Friday.
More than 3,000 athletes representing 209 countries from around the world are taking part in the championship.
The ministers listened to a presentation by the organising committee on the accomplished work and preparations, including engineering and logistical aspects to keep abreast of the highest standards for hosting the championship at the stadium with its various facilities equipped with the innovative cooling technology to host the world’s biggest sporting event which is held in the Middle East for the first time.
HE the Minister of Culture and Sports praised the great efforts of organising committee.
He also praised the preparations for organising the tournament in a way that reflects the leading position of Qatar in sports.
He thanked HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani and praised the level of readiness to receive participants and guests, which confirms the distinguished international status the State of Qatar enjoys.
The minister noted the important role of volunteers in organising the tournament, and wished all the world champions success in Doha, expressing the hope that the champions of Qatar will achieve good results during this event and honour their country in this important international sports tournament.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the IAAF Independent Athletics Integrity Unit, David Howman, praised the great support and co-operation the Unit has found from the organising committee and the local anti-doping committee.
Howman said in a statement yesterday that the IAAF’s Athletics Integrity Unit will work in partnership with the local organising committee and Qatar anti-doping committee to provide an integrated and unprecedented programme in 10 days of the competition, which will begin on Friday and continue until October 6.

بحضور سعادة الشيخ جوعان بن حمد آل ثاني رئيس اللجنة المنظمة العليا لبطولة العالم لألعاب القوى الدوحة 2019، قام سعادة السيد صلاح بن غانم العلي وزير الثقافة والرياضة، وسعادة الدكتور محمد بن عبدالواحد الحمادي وزير التعليم والتعليم العالي، بزيارة لمنشأة استاد خليفة الدولي الذي يستضيف منافسات البطولة التي ستنطلق يوم الجمعة المقبل وتستمر حتى السادس من أكتوبر المقبل.
وقد تجلى استاد خليفة الدولي في أبهى حلة بعد أن أصبح جاهزا تماما لاستضافة مونديال أم الألعاب بمشاركة أساطير وأبطال اللعبة.
واستمع سعادة السيد صلاح بن غانم العلي، وسعادة الدكتور محمد بن عبدالواحد الحمادي لعرض تقديمي من اللجنة المنظمة لبطولة العالم لألعاب القوى تناول ما تم إنجازه من أعمال وتحضيرات تشمل الجوانب الهندسية واللوجستية لمواكبة أعلى المعايير لاستضافة البطولة بميدان ومضمار استاد خليفة الدولي وبقية مرافقه ومنشآته المجهزة بتقنية التبريد المبتكرة لاحتضان أكبر حدث رياضي في العالم والمقام لأول مرة في منطقة الشرق الأوسط.
وثمن سعادة السيد صلاح بن غانم العلي وزير الثقافة والرياضة الجهود الكبيرة التي تقوم بها الكوادر العاملة باللجنة المنظمة العليا لبطولة العالم لألعاب القوى والتي تستضيفها قطر للمرة الأولى في المنطقة بمشاركة غير مسبوقة من أبطال وبطلات العالم.
وأثنى سعادته في تصريحات له عقب تفقده أمس، نادي قطر الرياضي الذي يستضيف تدريبات أبطال وبطلات العالم على ما شهده من تحضيرات واستعدادات من أجل إخراج البطولة بالصورة التي تعكس المكانة الرائدة لدولة قطر على الصعيد الرياضي.
وقد توجه وزير الثقافة والرياضة بالشكر إلى سعادة الشيخ جوعان بن حمد آل ثاني رئيس اللجنة المنظمة العليا لبطولة العالم لألعاب القوى /الدوحة 2019/، مشيدا بمستوى الجاهزية الكاملة لاستقبال المشاركين وضيوف التظاهرة الرياضية المقامة للمرة الأولى بمنطقة الشرق الأوسط، وذلك ما يؤكد المكانة المتميزة والمرموقة التي أصبحت تتمتع بها دولة قطر عالميا وبما يسهم في تعزيز المسيرة الرياضية الظافرة والتي تمضي بعزم نحو الارتقاء وتحقيق طموحاتها وأهدافها المشروعة.
ونوه سعادته بالدور الهام والكبير للمتطوعين في تنظيم البطولة، وقال إن التطوع سمة إنسانية نبيلة لا تقدر بثمن، “ويسعدني أن أسجل اسمي كمتطوع في هذه البطولة للعمل مع إخواني وأخواتي المتطوعين في إبراز الصورة المشرفة لدولة قطر”.
وعبر وزير الثقافة والرياضة عن أمنياته لجميع أبطال وبطلات العالم بالتوفيق في مونديال الدوحة، معرباً عن أمله في أن يحقق أبطال قطر الإنجازات خلال المونديال وتشريف بلادهم في هذا المحفل الرياضي العالمي الكبير.
