QRCS completes monitoring polio vaccination drive in Syria

The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has finished monitoring the second polio vaccination campaign in Syria, which succeeded in covering more than 815,000 Syrian children under the age of five, in co-operation with the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef) and World Health Organisation (WHO).
The QRCS said in a statement Wednesday that its group was accompanied by the relevant vaccine teams in various areas of Idlib and its countryside, as well as villages in Aleppo and Hama.
The campaign is an opportunity to immunise children against polio, especially for those who haven’t been reached during the many programmes that have been implemented over the past years, as well as an additional step towards the eradication of polio completely in Syria.
The statement explained that the monitoring programme carried out by QRCS’s mission in the Turkish city of Gaziantep aims to ensure the safety of the vaccination process, the readiness of the centres designated for that purpose, the implementation plans, the performance of teams and supervisors, and to determine the coverage and correct errors that may occur during them.
It also pointed out that this vaccination campaign was preceded by the training of the monitoring cadres through the organisation of an intensive training course at the headquarters of the Turkish mission and in the Syrian interior in order to increase the ability to carry out the tasks of monitoring, developing and follow up in the work and document and results efficiently.
Which then leads to the monitoring of stages and follow-up process in the health centres and homes, and monitoring observations, recording and counting the results, as well as the assessment of the pros and cons to be taken into account during the upcoming campaigns.
QRCS co-operates with Unicef on a five-year partnership agreement, which includes joint action in the areas of development, prevention and humanitarian response for children in affected areas.

انتهى الهلال الأحمر القطري من مراقبة الحملة الثانية لشهر يوليو للتطعيم ضد مرض شلل الأطفال في الداخل السوري، والتي نجحت في تغطية أكثر من 815 ألف طفل سوري دون سن الخامسة، بالتعاون مع منظمة الأمم المتحدة للطفولة “اليونيسيف” ومنظمة الصحة العالمية.
وقال الهلال الأحمر القطري في بيان اليوم إن كوادره قد تنقلت ترافقها فرق اللقاح المعنية في مختلف مناطق محافظة إدلب وريفها وكذا ريفي حلب وحماة، من منزل لآخر لإنجاز هذه المهمة، معتبرا الحملة فرصة لتلقيح الأطفال ضد مرض شلل الأطفال، وذلك لمن لم يتم الوصول إليهم خلال الحملات العديدة التي جرى تنفيذها على مدار الأعوام الماضية، فضلاً عن كونها تعد أيضاً خطوة إضافية نحو القضاء على مرض شلل الأطفال تماما في سوريا.
وأوضح أن برنامج المراقبة المحايدة الذي تنفذه بعثته في مدينة غازي عنتاب التركية، يهدف إلى مراقبة سلامة إعطاء اللقاح، وجاهزية المراكز المحددة لذلك الغرض، وخطط التنفيذ، وأداء الفرق والمشرفين، وتحديد نسبة التغطية وتصحيح الأخطاء التي قد تحدث أثناءها، وإعداد التوصيات المقترحة، مشيرا إلى أنه سبق إطلاق حملة التلقيح هذه تجهيز كوادر المراقبة من خلال تنظيم دورة تدريبية مكثفة في مقر بعثته بتركيا وفي الداخل السوري، وذلك لزيادة القدرة على القيام بمهام المراقبة ووضع الخطة ومتابعة العمل وتوثيق النتائج بكل كفاءة، مستعرضا في الوقت نفسه عملية المراقبة ومراحلها ومتابعة سيرها في المراكز الصحية والبيوت، ورصد الملاحظات وتسجيلها، وإحصاء النتائج وتقدير الإيجابيات والسلبيات لوضعها في الاعتبار أثناء الحملات القادمة.
ويتعاون الهلال الأحمر القطري مع منظمة “اليونيسيف” بناء على اتفاقية شراكة بينهما لمدة 5 أعوام، تشمل إجراءات العمل المشترك في مجالات التنمية والوقاية والاستجابة الإنسانية لصالح الأطفال في المناطق المنكوبة، ومنها على سبيل المثال حياة الأطفال الصغار وبقاؤهم وتطورهم، والمساواة بين الجنسين في الحصول على التعليم الأساسي، ومحاربة فيروس نقص المناعة المكتسبة “الإيدز” بين الأطفال والوقاية من مظاهر العنف والاستغلال والإيذاء ومنعها والاستجابة لها، والدعوة إلى الالتزام بالسياسات المعمول بها وتأسيس الشراكات من أجل حماية حقوق الطفل.
