HMC provides hassle-free services during Eid holidays

Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has continued to provide smooth delivery of Emergency and essential services across the hospitals despite an increase in number of cases during the ongoing Eid Al Adha holidays.

The Emergency Department at the Hamad General Hospital (HGH), Al Wakra Hospital, Pediatric Emergency Centres and the Ambulance Service have attended hundreds of patients including trauma and critical cases in the first two days of Eid.

HGH Emergency Department received 565 patients on the second day of Eid, which is an increase of more than 100 cases from the previous day.

All cases were reported between 6am and 6pm yesterday and majority of them were due to gastric ailments and respiratory problems, said Dr Galal Alessai, Consultant Emergency Medicine, Medical Toxicologist, Vice-Chairman for Corporate Affairs, Department of Emergency at HMC.

“At HMC extra steps have been taken to ensure the smooth delivery of services during Eid holidays. We expect to get more patients during holidays compared to other days with different complications. The team at the HGH Emergency Department as well as across HMC’s network of hospitals continue to provide the highest level of patient care throughout holidays. With a team of specialised doctors, nurses and paramedics, we ensure that operations are not affected and patients are given the best care,” he told The Peninsula.

“Though we have seen a high number of cases only one critical and one trauma case were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit and both are in stable condition. All other patients were treated and sent home,” he added. The Emergency Department at the Al Wakra Hospital has seen a total of 221 patients on the second day of Eid and no critical case was reported.

The number of patients seeking treatment for gastric ailments, road accidents and children for falls and accidents increases during holidays. Therefore people were advised to eat moderately and take precautions while driving and keep children safe.

HMC’s Pediatric Emergency Centres in Al Saad, Al Rayan, Al Shamal and Al Dayeen and Airport area received a total of 995 cases with different complaints. Majority of cases were due to respiratory problems but several others were also treated for different complications like trauma, infections and others.

“There was a slight increase in the number of cases on the second day of Eid from 760 on the first day to 995. However there was no specific reason for that. We saw an increase in the number of patients due to trauma but there were no critical cases reported,” said Dr. Nasser Haidar, Senior Consultant, Pediatrics, HMC.

He also advised parents to supervise children and to avoid any type of accidents, falls, drowning and poisoning.

“It can be a busy time for parents but they should pay some extra attention towards children, especially the parents must keep them safe from swimming pools, small objects and medicines,” said Dr. Haidar.

The Ambulance Service has deployed 95 cars across the country including places like Al Wakrah, Souq Waqif, Katara, Sealine Beach and Smaisma Beach on the first and second day of Eid. It had reported 260 claims cases including seven road accidents on the second day Eid. Another four patients were airlifted by LifeFlights but majority of cases were not critical.

While on Sunday, a total of 760 cases were seen at the Pediatric Emergency Centres across HMC. Majority of them presented with complications such as respiratory diseases such as viral and bacterial infections, intestinal infections, skin problems like allergies and various infections, enter of foreign bodies into nose and ear, accidents of swallowing medications used by a family member and burns. Some were also presented with newborn diseases like yolk, suspected infections and others. A total of 450 patients were seen at HGH’s Emergency Department, most of them were presented with mild problems. Some 26 patients ere admitted and others were treated and sent home. Only two critical cases were received on the first day of Eid and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.

While the Emergency Department at Al Wakrah Hospital treated a total of 230 cases on the first day of Eid and no critical cases were reported.

شهدت أقسام الطوارئ التابعة لمؤسسة حمد الطبية في اليوم الثاني لعيد الأضحى، خلال الـ24 ساعة الماضية، (1781) حالة، موزعة على (565) حالة استقبلها قسم طوارئ مستشفى حمد العام تم إدخال 16 حالة إلى جانب 12 حالة أطفال حوادث، و(221) حالة استقبلها قسم طوارئ مستشفى الوكرة تم إدخال (11)حالة، فضلا عن (995) حالة استقبلتها أقساط طوارئ الأطفال التابعة لمؤسسة حمد الطبية تم إدخال 9 حالات، فيما تلقت خدمة الإسعاف التابعة لحمد الطبية 260 بلاغا، منها 7 حوادث طرق بسيطة، كما تم نقل 4 حالات عبر الإسعاف الطائر.

وفِي هذا السياق أكد الدكتور جلال العيسائي – استشاري طب الطوارئ والسموم ونائب الرئيس للشؤون المؤسسية بقسم الطوارئ في مؤسسة حمد الطبية-، أن طوارئ مستشفى حمد العام استقبلت أمس (565)حالة، من بينها (360) حالة من الرجال، و(105) حالات من النساء، وإدخال 16 حالة، فضلا عن 12 حالة من الأطفال بسبب الحوادث، بينما استقبلت طوارئ مستشفى الوكرة (221) حالة، من بينها (133) حالة لرجال، و (88) حالة لسيدات، وتم إدخال (11)حالة تم إدخالها لتلقي الرعاية اللازمة، حيث لم يتم تسجيل أي حالة خطيرة في طوارئ الوكرة، وجميعها حالات بسيطة.

وأوضح أن أعداد المراجعين لأقسام الطوارئ في اليوم الثاني لعيد الأضحى هذا العام أقل مقارنة بالأعوام الماضية، وإن كانت أكثر من يوم أمس على مستوى طوارئ مستشفى حمد العام بسبب أنَّ في ثاني أيام العيد عادة ما يفضل الأشخاص الخروج مما قد يعرض البعض لوعكات صحية، ولكن مقارنة بالعام الماضي الأعداد أقل، وقد يعود هذا إلى انتشار الوعي بين السكان بشأن المشكلات الصحية التي تنتشر في الأعياد، كعسر الهضم والاضطراب المعوي. وناشد الدكتور العيسائي في تصريحاته لـالشرق المراجعين من الحالات غير الطارئة مراجعة المراكز الصحية التي تقدم خدمات علاجية خلال إجازة العيد، منعا للتكدس في قسمي الطوارئ في حمد العام والوكرة، ولتقليل ساعات الانتظار للحالات غير الحرجة أو الطارئة، التي ستنتظر بلا شك أمام وجود حالات حرجة أو طارئة.

وأشار إلى أن أغلب الحالات التي راجعت أقسام الطوارئ بسيطة إلى متوسطة، وتم إدخال حالات بسيطة إلى المستشفى، لافتا إلى جاهزية طوارئ مستشفى حمد ومستشفى الوكرة لاستقبال المراجعين، ورفع عدد الكادر الطبي لتغطية كافة الحالات، بأقل ساعات انتظار. من جانبه قال الدكتور ناصر حيدر –استشاري أول طوارئ أطفال بمؤسسة حمد الطبية-، إنَّ الحالات التي استقبلتها أقسام الطوارئ التابعة لمؤسسة حمد الطبية (995) حالة، منها 9 حالات تم إدخالها لتلقي الرعاية الطبية في المستشفى، وكانت الحالات (574) حالة في طوارئ السد، (278) حالة طوارئ الريان، (79) حالة طوارئ المطار، (49) حالة طوارئ الظعاين، و(15) حالة في طوارئ الشمال، وتنوعت الحالات مابين أمراض تنفسية مثل الالتهابات الفيروسية والبكتيرية، حساسية الجهاز التنفسي مثل الربو، النزلات المعوية، المشاكل الجلدية مثل الحساسية والالتهابات المختلفة، حوادث بلع أدوية يستخدمها أحد أفراد العائلة، التهابات الجهاز التنفسي، أمراض الغدد الصماء والحروق، وأمراض المواليد، إلا أنَّ يوم أمس شهد حالات حروق بصورة أكبر، فضلا عن مشاكل حادة في الفم والأسنان، والتهابات الجيوب الأنفية.

وناشد الدكتور ناصر حيدر الأسر ضرورة الانتباه إلى أطفالهم خاصة خلال النزهات الخارجية، أو الرحلات البحرية، حفاظا على سلامتهم، حيث أغلب الحالات التي يقع ضحيتها الأطفال تكون في العادة نتيجة إهمال الأهالي، وعدم مراقبتهم، وترك الأمر للعاملات المنزليات، لذا لابد من تشديد الرقابة والرعاية على الأطفال خاصة في مناطق البحر أو المسابح لحمايتهم من حالات الغرق التي تودي إلى الوفاة أو إلى إعاقات مستديمة، إلى جانب الانتباه إلى الأطفال خاصة من بدأوا بالحبو على اعتبارهم عرضة لابتلاع أجسام غريبة أكثر من غيرهم، مطالبا ضرورة تكثيف الرقابة عليهم ورعايتهم، وعدم إغفالهم.

وأشار الدكتور ناصر حيدر إلى أن أقسام طوارئ الأطفال على أهبة الاستعداد لاستقبال كافة الحالات خلال عيد الأضحى، وأن مجموعة من الاستشاريين يعملون على مدار الساعة لخدمة المراجعين، إضافة إلى طواقم التمريض الموزعة على كافة فترات العمل. وكشف عن تخصيص مجموعة من الأطباء والممرضين الذين تم إبلاغهم باحتمالية استدعائهم، في حال حاجة أقسام الطوارئ لهم، موضحاً أن عددا من الأطباء ممن هم في اجازاتهم يمكن استدعاؤهم في حال اقتضت الأمور ذلك، ولكن الأوضاع في أقسام الطوارئ تسير ضمن الإطار المخطط له، لافتا إلى أن الصيدليات والمختبرات أيضاً تعمل بكامل طاقتها.

من جانبه قال السيد أحمد البكري -مدير العمليات والعلاقات العامة لخدمة الإسعاف بمؤسسة حمد الطبية-، إنَّ خدمة الإسعاف تلقت في اليوم الأول من أيام عيد الأضحى المبارك 260 بلاغا، منها 7 بلاغات حوادث طرق بسيطة، والمتبقية حالات مرضية، كما تم نقل 4 حالات بالإسعاف الطائر.

وأوضح البكري قائلا « إنَّه تم توفير 95 سيارة إسعاف، وطائرتين هيلوكبتر تحت تصرف الإسعاف للحالات التي تستدعي، فضلا عن سيارات الجولف التي تم توفيرها في مطار حمد الدولي، إضافة إلى الدراجات الهوائية في مناطق الكثافة البشرية على غرار كتارا، سوق واقف، سوق الوكرة، كما تم تخصيص سيارات إسعاف الدفع الرباعي للمناطق الساحلية كمنطقة شواطئ سميسمة وسيلين، كما تم توزيع سيارات الإسعاف لتغطية احتفالات الجاليات في المنطقة الصناعية وصناعية الخور، ولفت إلى أن خدمة الإسعاف تعمل أيضاً على تغطية مطار حمد الدولي، بجانب عيادة حمد الطبية في المطار، خاصةً مع زيادة حركة السفر في الاجازات».
