Al Gharrafa Interchange fully open to traffic
«أشغال» تفتتح تقاطع الغرافة بالكامل أمام الحركة المرورية
The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced the full opening of Al Gharrafa Interchange (known as Immigration Interchange) to traffic from Friday (August 9) following the completion of the works to convert Al Gharrafa Roundabout into a signalised junction, in addition to the development of parts of the service roads on 22 February Street.
Eng. Mohamed Arqoub Al Khaldi, Head of Doha City Section, Road Projects Department at Ashghal, said that the development of the interchange contributes significantly to improving traffic and increasing its capacity, as it is located in an area with high traffic density where large number of vehicles uses this intersection on a daily basis. This interchange connects Doha with the northern areas of the country and provides easy access to the surrounding areas, such Al Luqta, Madinat Khalifa, Al Messila and Al Rayyan, in addition to many service, educational, health, commercial and residential facilities.
Al Khaldi added that the project improved the accesses of the roads surrounding the interchange and developing the service roads on both sides, as well as adding new light poles at the intersection, in addition to the development of 22 February Street accesses in the area between Al Rayyan Intersection and Rashida Intersection, and constructing additional parking on the western side of 22 February Street. The project also included the development of a stormwater drainage system, and the protection of existing services of Ooredoo, Kahramaa and others.
Ashghal pointed out that Al Gharrafa interchange Bridge will be closed to traffic heading north towards Al Duhail for 4 days starting tomorrow. The closure is in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic and aims to renew the asphalt layer of the bridge.
During the traffic closure, motorists heading north to Al Duhail will have to use the two-lane traffic signal already opened at the interchange.
أعلنت هيئة الأشغال العامة (أشغال)، افتتاح تقاطع الغرافة المعروف بتقاطع الجوازات بالكامل أمام الحركة المرورية أمس الأول، عقب استكمال أعمال تحويل دوار الغرافة إلى تقاطع بإشارة ضوئية، وتطوير أجزاء من الشوارع الخدمية بطريق 22 فبراير.
وقال المهندس محمد عرقوب الخالدي، رئيس قسم مشاريع مدينة الدوحة بإدارة مشاريع الطرق في «أشغال»: «إن تطوير التقاطع سوف يساهم بشكل كبير في تحسين الحركة المرورية وزيادة طاقته الاستيعابية». لافتاً إلى أن التقاطع يقع في منطقة تشهد كثافة مرورية عالية وعدداً كبيراً من المركبات التي تستخدمه بشكل يومي؛ لكونه يربط ما بين الدوحة والمناطق الشمالية في البلاد، ويسهّل الوصول إلى المناطق المحيطة به؛ كاللقطة ومدينة خليفة والمسيلة والريان، إلى جانب العديد من المنشآت الخدمية والتعليمية والمراكز الصحية والتجارية والتجمعات السكنية.
وأوضح الخالدي أن المشروع قد عمل على تحسين المداخل والمخارج للطرق المحيطة بالتقاطع، وتطوير الطرق الخدمية على جانبيه، وإضافة أعمدة إنارة جديدة عند التقاطع، بالإضافة إلى تطوير مداخل ومخارج طريق 22 فبراير في المنطقة بين تقاطع الريان وتقاطع رشيدة، وإنشاء مواقف إضافية عند الجهة الغربية لطريق 22 فبراير.
وأوضح أن أعمال المشروع شملت تطوير نظام تصريف مياه الأمطار، وحماية الخدمات القائمة الخاصة بـ «ooredoo» و«كهرماء» وغيرها.
وفي السياق ذاته، أعلنت «أشغال» إغلاق جسر تقاطع الغرافة أمام الحركة المرورية المتجهة شمالاً نحو الدحيل لمدة 4 أيام ابتداء من غد الاثنين بالتنسيق مع الإدارة العامة للمرور، بهدف تجديد الطبقة الإسفلتية بالجسر.
وخلال فترة الإغلاق المروري، سوف يتعين على قائدي المركبات المتجهين شمالاً نحو الدحيل استخدام الإشارة الضوئية التي افتُتحت مسبقاً بالتقاطع، والتي تتألف من مسارين (كما هو موضح بالخريطة المرفقة).
سوف تقوم هيئة الأشغال العامة بتركيب اللوحات الإرشادية لتنبيه مستخدمي الطريق إلى هذا التغيير المروري، وأهابت بجميع مستخدمي الطريق إلى الالتزام بحدود السرعة المسموحة واتباع اللوحات الإرشادية؛ حفاظاً على سلامتهم.
