SC completes 200mn work hours, 75% of preparations for World Cup

The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) has announced the completion of 200mn work hours since preparations began on the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 projects.

To mark this milestone, SC has organised a ceremony to recognise the efforts of the FIFA World Cup workers who made this achievement possible.

With the 200mn-work hour mark, SC completed around 75% of its preparations for the tournament. The years leading up to this moment have included a number of significant accomplishments and milestones.

These include the renovation and re-opening of Khalifa International Stadium, the launch of the iconic Al Janoub Stadium in Al Wakrah City and the construction of three training clusters to bring the total number of sites to 40.

SC also announced its readiness to launch Al Rayyan Stadium and Al Bayt Stadium, located in Al Khor City, in the second half of 2019.

“We’ve always reiterated our commitment to ensuring the World Cup leaves a sustainable human, economic and social legacy. This legacy, we hope, will serve as a model that’s admired and adopted by future host countries,” said Yasir al-Jamal, chairman of the Operations Office and vice chairman of the Technical Delivery Office (TDO) at SC.

“The success we’re celebrating today is a key moment of this journey. Achieving our vision and successfully hosting the Arab world’s first FIFA World Cup tournament is not a standalone effort. We continuously collaborate with the relevant local and international stakeholders to help along the way.”

Al-Jamal added: “This is no doubt one of the biggest and most important events in the world. Such an event requires us to invest the time and effort in the establishment of the facilities that is ultimately there to leave a legacy beyond the tournament and benefit community members in Qatar, including nationals and residents.

“These new facilities will become new attractions and destinations for visitors. One example is the 880,000sqm park that surrounds Al Bayt Stadium.”

Meanwhile, Tamim El-Abed, project manager of Lusail Stadium, said: “We’ve come a long way on the road to 2022. We look forward to achieving more accomplishments in the coming years when we launch the rest of the World Cup stadiums.

“As part of our progress, we have completed the concrete works, steel, precast and interior works at Lusail Stadium and we also organised trial matches at the training sites due to host international teams in 2022 to test their readiness.

“We’re very proud of the efforts of everyone involved, and we’ll continue our hard work until the first World Cup whistle blows.”

Abdullah al-Bishri, manager of Health and Safety of the TDO at SC, said: “Five years ago, this achievement seemed far-fetched. Today, we’re very proud with what we’ve accomplished. Khalifa International Stadium has been renovated and re-opened. Al Janoub Stadium was launched. Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor is now in its final stages.

“Works have been completed at Ras Abu Aboud Stadium, and we’ve lifted the roofs and commenced façade works at Al Thumama Stadium and work is progressing rapidly at the remaining stadiums.

“This event celebrates this progression, and recognises the workers’ tremendous effort, dedication and commitment to the health and safety standards imposed by the SC.”

To guarantee compliance, SC organises a series of lectures and workshops for all FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 workers to educate them about health and safety standards across all its projects.

SC also works closely with a number of local and international partners to organise site visits and inspections, hosting more than 2,000 site visits so far.

أعلنت اللجنة العليا للمشاريع والإرث عن اجتياز 200 مليون ساعة عمل، منذ بدء العمل في مشاريع مونديال كأس العالم لكرة القدم «قطر 2022». وقد كرّمت اللجنة العليا عدداً من العمال المساهمين في إنجاز مختلف مشاريع البطولة احتفاءً بجهودهم. وبتحقيق هذا الإنجاز، تكون اللجنة العليا قد أنهت ما يقارب 75 % من خطة تجهيز منشآت البطولة.

وقد حفلت الأعوام القليلة الماضية بعدد من النجاحات والمحطات البارزة في الطريق نحو استضافة المونديال في قطر، أهمها تطوير استاد خليفة الدولي وإعادة افتتاحه، وتدشين استاد الجنوب في مدينة الوكرة، وبناء 3 مجمعات ملاعب تدريبية متكاملة، ليصل مجموع الملاعب التدريبية الجاهزة استعداداً لاستقبال المنتخبات المشاركة في البطولة إلى 40 ملعباً تدريبياً.

وقد أعلنت «الإرث» اعتزامها تدشين استادي الريان والبيت في مدينة الخور خلال النصف الثاني من العام الحالي.

وحول هذا الإنجاز، قال المهندس ياسر الجمال، رئيس مكتب عمليات البطولة ونائب رئيس المكتب الفني في اللجنة العليا للمشاريع والإرث: «طالما أكدنا أن بطولة كأس العالم لكرة القدم قطر 2022 تهدف إلى ترك إرث بشري واقتصادي واجتماعي مستدام، يكون نموذجاً تحتذي به الدول المستضيفة للنسخ المقبلة من المونديال الكروي، وغيرها من البطولات والمنافسات الرياضية المحلية والإقليمية والدولية».

وأضاف: «تدرك اللجنة العليا إدراكاً تاماً أهمية تنسيق الجهود لتحقيق إنجازات يشار إليها بالبنان، وذلك في طريقها نحو استضافة المونديال في قطر لأول مرة في العالم العربي»، وتابع: «إن النجاح الذي يُحتفى به اليوم أحد أبرز محطاتنا في هذه الرحلة».

وأوضح أن مشروعاً بحجم بطولة كأس العالم لكرة القدم يعدّ أحد أكبر المشاريع حول العالم؛ لذلك نؤمن بضرورة استثمار ساعات العمل الكبيرة في عمر المشروع في إنجاز مرافق ومنشآت تعود على المواطنين والمقيمين في قطر بالفائدة، وتوفر مزارات ووجهات جديدة كاستاد البيت الذي تقع في محيطه حديقة تبلغ مساحتها 880 ألف متر مربع».

تميم العابد: الأعمال الداخلية تتواصل في ستاد لوسيل

قال المهندس تميم العابد، مدير مشروع استاد لوسيل: «نستطيع القول بوصولنا 200 مليون ساعة عمل، نكون قد اجتزنا بها مرحلة كبيرة في طريقنا نحو مونديال 2022، ونتطلع في الأعوام القادمة إلى تحقيق مزيد من النجاحات في الاستادات المونديالية المقرر إطلاقها خلال الأعوام القليلة القادمة».

وأوضح أن استاد لوسيل، الذي سوف يستضيف مباراتي الافتتاح والختام للبطولة، يتواصل فيه إنجاز أعمال الحديد والصلب ومختلف الأعمال الداخلية. علاوة على ذلك، قال: «نظمنا مباريات على أرضيات ملاعب التدريب لاختبار كفاءتها وجاهزيتها لاستقبال المنتخبات المشاركة في المونديال. وخلال الأعوام القادمة، لن نتوانى عن بذل مزيد من الجهد لتحقيق إنجازات أخرى، وصولاً إلى لحظة سماع صافرة بدء أولى مباريات البطولة المنتظرة».

عبد الله البشري:

فخورون بما تحقق من إنجازات

أوضح السيد عبد الله البشري، مدير إدارة الصحة والسلامة في اللجنة العليا للمشاريع والإرث، أنه قبل 5 أعوام كانت تبدو الإنجازات التي نراها اليوم بعيدة المنال، وأضاف: «اليوم، نفخر بكل ما حققته فرق العمل في مختلف مشاريع مونديال 2022؛ حيث نجحنا في تجديد استاد خليفة الدولي وإعادة افتتاحه، ودشّنت «الإرث» مؤخراً استاد الجنوب في مدينة الوكرة. ونرى استاد البيت في مدينة الخور صرحاً رياضياً مميزاً يقارب بناؤه على الانتهاء، وأنجزنا بناء هيكل استاد راس أبو عبود، ويعانق سقف استاد الثمامة عنان السماء».

وأضاف: «يتواصل العمل في باقي الاستادات على قدم وساق، وهدفْنا من تنظيم هذه الفعالية إلى تكريم العمال وتقدير جهودهم وتفانيهم في بناء مختلف مشاريع بطولة كأس العالم لكرة القدم، والتزامهم بمختلف معايير الصحة والسلامة التي تنص عليها اللجنة العليا».

لمنشآت البطولة

تنظم اللجنة العليا للمشاريع والإرث محاضرات وورش لتدريب جميع عمال مشاريع مونديال 2022 على تطبيق معايير الأمن والسلامة، وضمان تطبيقها في مواقع البناء كافة التابعة للبطولة.

وفي هذا الإطار، تتعاون «الإرث» مع شركاء محليين وعالميين لتنظيم أكثر من 2000 زيارة ميدانية لمنشآت البطولة، وذلك لمراقبة سير العمل وضمان تطبيق معايير الأمن والصحة والسلامة بدقة وفاعلية.
