Prime Minister inaugurates Al Daayen Naval Base

Doha: Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani today inaugurated Al Daayen Naval Base, the new building of the General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security, in Sumaysimah area in northern Qatar.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by a number of Ministers, senior officials, Ambassadors accredited to the State and guests of the country.

A documentary film about the General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security, its stages of development, specialties, its role in securing maritime borders and preventing smuggling and illegal migration, its search and rescue operations and other specialties were shown at the ceremony.

During the ceremony, the Prime Minister inaugurated a number of new naval boats belonging to the General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security. He also witnessed a presentation by the Department’s search and rescue team.

The PM then toured the new buildings of the Department, during which he was briefed about the important facilities and modern equipment that are compatible with the nature of the coastal and border security tasks and raises the level of performance to meet the requirements of maritime security.

Built on a total area of 639,800 square meters, Al Daayen Naval Base is located in the middle of the country’s eastern coast, in order to facilitate securing of all territorial waters of the State and border posts.

The base includes all the advanced requirements for marine security, which will contribute to securing the maritime borders of the State and tightening the security control and protection of all its coasts by conducting maritime patrols to prevent infiltration and smuggling of prohibited materials and control maritime violations, as well as providing marine services to citizens and residents at the same level in term of performance efficiency.

The base was established according to a model that takes into account the functions and competences of the General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security. It accommodates all its units, as well as a sophisticated seaport with a depth of 6 meters besides other sports, training and medical facilities, civil defense, manufacturing and maintenance workshops, operating rooms, officers’ accommodation and other facilities.

افتتح معالي الشيخ عبد الله بن ناصر بن خليفة آل ثاني رئيس مجلس الوزراء ووزير الداخلية، صباح اليوم قاعدة الظعاين البحرية (المبنى الجديد للإدارة العامة لأمن السواحل والحدود) بمنطقة سميسمة شمال قطر.

حضر حفل الافتتاح عدد من أصحاب السعادة الوزراء، وكبار المسؤولين، وعدد من أصحاب السعادة السفراء المعتمدين لدى الدولة، وضيوف البلاد.

وتضمن الحفل، عرض فيلم وثائقي عن الإدارة العامة لأمن السواحل والحدود، ومراحل تطورها، وامكانياتها، واختصاصاتها، ودورها في تأمين الحدود البحرية، ومنع عمليات التهريب والهجرة غير المشروعة، والبحث والإنقاذ، وغيرها من الاختصاصات.

وخلال الحفل، قام معالي رئيس مجلس الوزراء ووزير الداخلية بتدشين عدد من الزوارق البحرية الجديدة التابعة لإدارة أمن السواحل والحدود.. كما شهد معاليه عرضا لفريق البحث والإنقاذ بالإدارة.

وعقب ذلك، قام معاليه بجولة في عدد من المباني الجديدة التابعة للإدارة، اطلع خلالها على أهم المرافق والتجهيزات الحديثة بما يتلاءم مع طبيعة عمل أمن السواحل والحدود، ويرفع من مستوى الأداء لتلبية متطلبات الأمن البحري.

وتقع قاعدة الظعاين البحرية التي تم إنشاؤها على مساحة كلية تقدر بنحو 639 ألفا و800 متر مربع، في منتصف الساحل الشرقي للدولة وذلك لتسهيل تأمين كافة المياه الاقليمية للدولة والمراكز الحدودية.

وتضم القاعدة جميع المتطلبات الأمنية البحرية المتطورة بما يسهم في تأمين الحدود البحرية للدولة ، وإحكام الرقابة والحماية الأمنية لكل سواحلها من خلال تسيير الدوريات البحرية في نطاق الاختصاص لمنع عمليات التسلل وتهريب المواد الممنوعة وضبط المخالفات البحرية، فضلا عن تقديم خدمات بحرية للمواطنين والمقيمين بنفس المستوى من حيث كفاءة الأداء.

وتم إنشاء القاعدة وفق نموذج يراعي مهام واختصاصات الإدارة العامة لأمن السواحل والحدود، ويستوعب كافة إداراتها، فضلا عن ميناء بحري متطور بعمق 6 أمتار، إلى جانب المرافق الأخرى الرياضية والتدريبية والطبية، والدفاع المدني، وورش التصنيع والصيانة، وغرف العمليات، وسكن الضباط، وغيرها من المرافق.
