Withdrawal of siege countries’ products from local market hailed

DOHA: The Government Communication Office (GCO) has said in a statement that products originating from the blockading states, which as a result of the blockade cannot pass the GCC Customs Territory, has to undergo proper import inspections and customs procedures.
Qatar Chamber has commended the decision of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce to oblige all sales outlets and consumer complexes to remove all goods imported from the siege countries.
The Government Communication Office stressed that Qatar conducts its trade policy in accordance with all of its multilateral and bilateral agreements, reported QNA. The UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Eygpt, on June 5, 2017, had unexpectedly announced that they would close its land and sea borders, as well as its airports, territory and airspace, to goods destined for Qatar.
These measures impacted all goods passing across (or that could pass across), the Government Communication Office said in a statement. It added that they further subsequently adopted a series of ancillary restrictions and arbitrary exceptions.
To protect the safety of consumers in the State of Qatar and to combat improper trafficking of goods, the Government has issued a directive to find new suppliers of the variety of goods impacted, the statement noted.
Chairman of Qatar Chamber (QC) Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani has commended the decision of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce to oblige all sales outlets and consumer complexes operating in the country to remove all goods imported from the siege countries: Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain and Egypt.
Sheikh Khalifa said in a statement yesterday, that this decision came in line with the demands made by QC on boycotting the goods and products of the siege countries, in conjunction with the launch of the slogan “Qatar Above the Siege”, where it urged Qatari businessmen to stop the import of goods and products from the siege countries, as a reciprocity.
He pointed out that the countries that closed their land, sea and air ports with the State of Qatar in an unjust siege aimed at undermining the sovereignty of the country and the independence of its decision failed to achieve its objectives, thanks to the wisdom and vigilance of the political leadership and its ability to manage the crisis with great tact and diplomacy and the cohesion of Qatar’s people and residents around the leadership.
Sheikh Khalifa stressed that the Qatari private sector, with all its categories, will remain supporting the wise leadership in all its decisions. He pointed out that the unjust siege brought out the potential of Qatar’s people and residents, calling for continuing the promotion of the national production, and focusing on the development of national industries, which reduces imports.
He explained that the Qatar Chamber continues to encourage businessmen and investors to move to the industrial sector, and work on the localisation of industries, especially those relying on modern technology, noting that the past period recorded the emergence of many new industries that boosted domestic production in various sectors, in which the country achieved high rates of self-sufficiency during the year of siege.
Commenting on the Ministry of Economy and Commerce decision which has asked shops and commercial complexes operating in the country to remove all goods imported from blockading countries from the shelves with immediate effect Qatari Twitter users have expressed their support to it.
Residents have expressed their happiness on social media about this initiative asking all resident to report about any shop violating the MEC decision.
“Every resident should be proud of this decision. Today, we are seeing what H H the Amir said that we do not fear the blockade of these countries against us as we are a thousand times better off without them and Qatar will continue the plan of achieving self-sufficiency,” said a twitterati.
Another one added: “It is a good news and will save time of shopping for us because earlier we were checking every food item before buy it.”
“Remove the siege countries commercial goods” remained top trend on the twitter and the people asked how can we receive the goods of the countries which are imposing blockade on us and closing their borders. “One year is enough we should treat them like they are treating us.”
“The positives of the blockade is more than its negatives. It is time for joint effort between the government and private sector to create self-sufficiency in all goods and the country is able to do this,” said Khaled bin Ali Al Kuwari in a tweet.
أثار قرار سحب وإزالة منتجات دول الحصار من مختلف منافذ البيع في المولات والمجمعات الاستهلاكية ومراكز التسوق في السوق المحلي، ردود أفعال كثيرة تدعم وتؤيد القرار جملة وتفصيلاً، حتى إن البعض أكد أن منع عرض منتجات وسلع دول الحصار في السوق المحلي، كان بمنزلة مطلب وطني في ظل «النزعة العدائية» لدول الحصار تجاه قطر.
يرى كثير من هؤلاء أن إزالة ومنع عرض وترويج منتجات السعودية والإمارات والبحرين ومصر في قطر، يمكن أن يكون أقل ما يمكن اتخاذه في ظل استمرار تلك الدول في حصارها الجائر والفاشل على قطر والمفروض منذ 5 يونيو الماضي.
موضحين أن أسواق تلك الدول منعت منذ فترة طويلة عرض المنتجات والسلع القطرية في أسواقها، فلماذا نستمر نحن في عرض منتجاتهم؟!
وكانت وزارة الاقتصاد والتجارة قد طلبت -في بيان رسمي، أمس الأول- من جميع منافذ البيع والمجمعات الاستهلاكية العاملة في قطر، البدء فوراً بإزالة ورفع جميع البضائع التي تم استيرادها من دول الحصار: (السعودية، الإمارات، البحرين، مصر) من داخل تلك المجمعات.
وأضاف البيان أن مفتشي الوحدات الإدارية التابعة لقطاع شؤون المستهلك بالوزارة سيقومون بالتفتيش على جميع منافذ البيع والمجمعات الاستهلاكية العاملة، للتأكد من إزالة ورفع البضائع المذكورة.
الاكتفاء الذاتي
يُؤتي أكله
ولا شك أن وزارة الاقتصاد والتجارة لم تكن لتقدم على اتخاذ مثل هذا القرار لولا وصول جهود تحقيق الاكتفاء الذاتي في قطر من السلع والمنتجات الغذائية والاستهلاكية إلى نسبة عالية جداً، وخصوصاً فيما يتعلق بالخضار والفاكهة، كما أن القرار يعطي مؤشراً راسخاً بوجود البدائل الأفضل والأجود والأقل سعراً لتلك المنتجات، فضلاً عن أنه يؤشر أيضاً إلى أن دورة شحن البضائع إلى قطر، سواء بالجو أو البحر، قد أصبحت منتظمة، خصوصاً من خلال ميناء حمد الدولي، حيث إن القرار يشير إلى وجود كميات كبيرة تكفي حاجة السوق المحلي لعدة أشهر في مختلف المستودعات بميناء حمد.
ويبدو أن نسبة الاكتفاء الذاتي بالنسبة للسوق القطري من مختلف أصناف الخضار والفاكهة، تصل اليوم إلى أكثر من 70 %، وهي نسبة كبيرة ومبشرة، تعكس مدى نجاح جهود الحكومة والقطاع الخاص، خلال الأشهر الماضية ومنذ فرض الحصار الجائر، في تحقيق أعلى معدلات الاكتفاء الذاتي المحلي من الخضار والفاكهة بشكل خاص، ومختلف السلع والمواد الغذائية والاستهلاكية عموماً.
وعقب صدور بيان وزارة الاقتصاد والتجارة، انتشرت فوراً على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي صور أظهرت سرعة استجابة تلك المجمعات الاستهلاكية ومراكز التسوق لتنفيذ القرار، والتخلص الفوري من كل منتجات وسلع دول الحصار.
دعم وتأييد
وقد اشتعلت مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي، أمس وأمس الأول، بردود الأفعال المؤيدة والداعمة لقرار سحب تلك المنتجات، ومنع عرضها في السوق المحلي القطري، إذ انتشرت على موقع «تويتر» الكثير من الهاشتاجات في ظل تنفيذ القرار، من بينها هاشتاج سحب منتجات دول الفجار. وقال أحد المغردين إنه كان يتوجب على وزارة الاقتصاد والتجارة أن تقوم بإصدار قرار منع ترويج وعرض منتجات دول الحصار منذ سنة، لكن المهم الآن أن القرار صدر، ولن نرى بعد اليوم أي نوع من تلك المنتجات في الأسواق المحلية في قطر.
ووصفت مغردة أخرى قرار وزارة الاقتصاد والتجارة بالمهم، وقالت: لقد تجاوب الشعب القطري مع القرار الذي تمنى البعض لو كان تم قبل الآن، ولكن القرار أفرح أهل قطر خاصة، بعد عام من حصار قطر نحن بألف خير دونهم. وقال مغرد آخر: أخيراً اتخذت وزارة الاقتصاد والتجارة القرار الذي بات مطلباً شعبياً للمواطنين والمقيمين في قطر منذ فرض الحصار الجائر، إنه قرار وطني بامتياز يتمثل في منع بيع منتجات دول الحصار في السوق القطري، وسحب المعروض منها.. لا بارك الله فيكم ولا في منتجاتكم.
مقارنة عادلة
وقام بعض المغردين بعقد مقارنة بين قيام العشرات من المواطنين الأيرلنديين بإزالة المنتجات الإسرائيلية من على رفوف المتاجر في أسواقهم المحلية تضامناً مع الفلسطينيين، وقرار قطر بإزالة منتجات دول الحصار من المجمعات الاستهلاكية في السوق القطري، ونشر البعض صوراً لذلك من أسواق أيرلندا وقطر. وطالب مغردون بتجميع كل منتجات وسلع دول الحصار، التي تم سحبها من الأسواق في مكان عام، ومن ثم إتلافها أو إحراقها على الملأ، فيما طالب آخرون بإطعامها للفقراء والمحتاجين في السعودية والإمارات.
