Android Phones to Soon Get eSIM Transfer Tool

Washington: Google has started working on a new feature that will enable Android device owners to transfer their eSIMs from one device to another device seamlessly.

As of now, there is no easy way to transfer eSIM between Android devices, which often leaves users rely on telecom providers.

The feature will prompt users to scan a QR code to start the transfer process.

Google is cooperating with local telecom companies in each country to support the new feature, which is expected to be available in conjunction with the Android 14 release.

Google has updated its “Google Contacts” app with new features that is bringing local time and weather conditions to user contact cards.

The Google Contacts app is also preparing a new redesign to its single-contact widget. The new design will be gradually introduced to Android users through updates that will be available through the Google Play Store.

واشنطن: تعمل شركة /جوجل/ على تطوير ميزة جديدة تتيح لمستخدمي الهواتف العاملة بنظام تشغيل أندرويد نقل الشرائح الإلكترونية eSIM بين الأجهزة بسهولة وبدون الحاجة إلى اللجوء إلى شركات الاتصالات.

ولا توجد حاليا طريقة مدمجة في نظام تشغيل أندرويد تتيح لأصحاب الشرائح الإلكترونية نقلها بين الهواتف التي يمتلكونها.

ووفقا للباحثين، ستعتمد جوجل على آلية مسح رموز الاستجابة السريعة QR Codes لإطلاق ميزة نقل الشريحة الإلكترونية بين هواتف أندرويد.

وتتعاون جوجل مع شركات الاتصالات المحلية في كل دولة على حدة من أجل دعم الميزة الجديدة المتوقع بدء توفرها بالتزامن مع إطلاق النسخة النهائية المستقرة من نظام أندرويد 14.

وفي سياق متصل، قامت جوجل بتحديث تطبيق جهات الاتصال الخاص بها “Google Contacts” بمزايا جديدة تتضمن عرض التوقيت المحلي والطقس في صفحة جهات الاتصال.

كما تعمل جوجل على تحسين تصميم التطبيق المصغر “ويدجت” لعرض جهة اتصال واحدة. هذه المزايا الجديدة ستطرح تدريجيا على مستخدمي أندرويد من خلال تحديثات ستكون متوفرة عبر متجر جوجل بلاي.
