Some AFG College students join peers at Aberdeen convocation

Some of the students from AFG College with the University of Aberdeen in Doha recently joined students of the main campus in Aberdeen, Scotland, to receive their degrees at the University of Aberdeen graduation ceremony.
The AFG College students graduating at the ceremony were part of the first undergraduate business management cohort of the 2017 inaugural intake.
Having previously undertaken study at institutes such as College of the North Atlantic – Qatar and Community College of Qatar, the graduates were able to complete the remaining two years of their degree programme in Doha and graduate at the bachelor’s level from the University of Aberdeen.
Bashayer al-Kaabi, one of the students graduating in Aberdeen, said: “As a student from Qatar, I am very proud to be here in Scotland celebrating the culmination of all my hard work over the past two years. I feel blessed and lucky to have experienced quality international education from Scotland, in the comfort of my supporting home in Doha. I’m very pleased to see my efforts come to fruition on this very special day. I am proud and honoured to be gathered here with my fellow classmates from all across the globe coming together in celebration, here in Aberdeen.”
The successful students were joined in Aberdeen by AFG College principal Brian Buckley, who said: “Witnessing our first graduates receive their degrees was an important milestone in the continued success of our partnership campus. I was thrilled to be present at this momentous occasion and look forward to our future graduates following in the footsteps of these students.”
Prof Richard Wells, vice-principal of the University of Aberdeen, added: “ Seeing our first students from our Qatar campus graduating here in Aberdeen gives me a great sense of pride and satisfaction. I am confident that these graduating students will go to be great ambassadors for the University of Aberdeen and moreover, be ready to contribute to Qatar’s national strategic vision.”
AFG College with the University of Aberdeen will be holding its own graduation ceremony in Doha this November, for graduates who did not attend the ceremony in Scotland.
انضم طلاب كلية «أيه. أف. جي»، بالتعاون مع جامعة أبردين في الدوحة إلى طلاب الحرم الجامعي الرئيسي في أبردين باسكتلندا لاستلام شهاداتهم في حفل تخرج جامعة أبردين يوم 18 يونيو 2019. الطلاب الذين تخرجوا في هذا الحفل قد التحقوا بالكلية لدراسة إدارة الأعمال منذ بدء العام الدراسي الأول عام 2017. بعد إنهاء الدبلوم في كلية شمال الأطلنطي في قطر (CNAQ) وكلية المجتمع في قطر وغيرها، تمكّن الخريجون من إكمال السنتين المتبقيتين من برنامج شهاداتهم في الدوحة والتخرج حاملين البكالوريوس من جامعة أبردين.
بهذه المناسبة، قالت بشاير الكعبي، إحدى الطلاب المتخرجين في أبردين: «كطالبة من قطر، أنا فخورة جدًا لوجودي هنا في اسكتلندا احتفالًا بتتويج كل عملي الشاق على مدار العامين الماضيين. أشعر بأنني محظوظة لأنني حصلت على تعليم دولي ممتاز من اسكتلندا، في راحة مسكني في الدوحة. أنا سعيدة جدًا برؤية جهودي تتحقق في هذا اليوم المميز للغاية. أنا فخورة ويشرفني أن أجتمع هنا مع زملائي من زملاء الدراسة من جميع أنحاء العالم الذين اجتمعوا في هذا الاحتفال، هنا في أبردين».
انضم مدير كلية «أيه. أف. جي» إلى الطلاب الناجحين في حفل التخرج في أبردين، براين باكلي الذي قال: «إن مشاهدة أول دفعة من خريجينا الذين حصلوا على شهاداتهم تعد علامة مهمة في النجاح المستمر للشراكة. لقد سعدت بحضور هذه المناسبة المهمة وأتطلع إلى خريجي المستقبل لدينا السائرين على خطى هؤلاء الطلاب».
وعلّق البروفيسور ريتشارد ويلز، نائب مدير جامعة أبردين قائلاً: «إن رؤية طلابنا الأوائل من خارج الحرم الجامعي قطر يتخرجون هنا في أبردين يعطيني شعورًا عظيمًا بالفخر والرضا. أنا واثق من أن هؤلاء الطلاب الخريجين سيصبحون سفراء عظيمين لجامعة أبردين، وعلى استعداد للمساهمة في الرؤية الاستراتيجية الوطنية لدولة قطر.» تجدر الإشارة إلى أن كلية «أيه. أف. جي» ستعقد مع جامعة أبردين حفل التخرج الخاص بها في الدوحة للخريجين الذين لم يحضروا الحفل في اسكتلندا في نوفمبر المقبل.
