Qatar Charity-built school inaugurated in Garowe, Somalia
«قطر الخيرية» تفتتح مدرسة في الصومال
Doha: The Minister of Education and Higher Education in the Somali state of Puntland Abdullah Mohammed Hassan opened the Dar es Salaam Primary School, which was built by Qatar Charity in the city of Garowe, and funded by benefactors in Qatar.
The 400 sq m school has many classrooms and rooms for the principal and teachers and is expected to benefit 400 students. The project aims at supporting education in Somalia, contributing to increasing the literacy rate, improving education facilities, and creating generations capable of participating in the development of the country.
At the inauguration ceremony, Minister Abdullah Mohammed Hassan expressed his pleasure in opening the first school since taking office a month ago. He also pointed out that the Ministry of Education and Higher Education would move forward to strengthen partnership and cooperation with charitable organisations, including Qatar Charity, for the improvement of education.
He also thanked donors in Qatar for their generous support to build this school, hoping it would contribute to building an educated generation. For his part, Abdel Taher Abshar, Director of the Dar es Salaam Primary School, thanked Qatar Charity for their continuous efforts to contribute to providing an appropriate educational environment and improving the academic performance of students. He also noted the humanitarian role of Qatar Charity in Somalia through its office in Mogadishu in the areas of relief and development, especially education, in addition to sponsoring orphans, students and teachers.
It is worth mentioning that Qatar Charity has completed several multi-service projects in Somalia, including a centre opened in 2017, which has a school consisting of several classrooms. In the same year, a specialised agricultural school was opened in Afgooye, a town in the southwestern Lower Shebelle region of Somalia, which is the first of its kind in the region.
افتتح وزير التربية والتعليم العالي بولاية بونت لاند بالصومال عبد الله محمد حسن مدرسة دار السلام الابتدائية التي شيدتها «قطر الخيرية» في مدينة جرووى، بتمويل من أهل الخير في قطر. وتضم المدرسة -التي تبلغ مساحتها 400 متر مربع- عدداً من الفصول الدراسية، وغرفاً خاصة بالمدير والمدرسين، وينتظر أن يستفيد منها 400 طالب.
يهدف هذا المشروع إلى دعم وتطوير العملية التعليمية في الصومال، والمساهمة في تخفيف نسبة الأمية، والحد من النقص في المنشآت التربوية، وتنشئة أجيال قادرة على المشاركة في دعم نهضة بلادها.
وفي حفل تدشين المدرسة، أعرب الوزير عبدالله محمد حسن عن سعادته الغامرة بافتتاح أول مدرسة منذ توليه مهام الوزارة قبل شهر، وأشار إلى أن وزارة التربية والتعليم العالي ستمضي قدماً نحو الأمام، من أجل تعزير الشراكة والتعاون مع المنظمات الخيرية، بما فيها قطر الخيرية، من أجل تطوير التعليم، كما شكر المتبرعين من أهل دولة قطر على دعمهم السخي، الذي لولاه ما بنيت هذه المدرسة، آملاً أن تساهم في بناء جيل يساهم في بناء ونهضة البلاد، من خلال العلم والمعرفة.
من جهته، أعرب السيد عبد طاهر أبشر، مدير دار السلام الابتدائية، عن أمله في أن تشكل هذه المدرسة منارة علمية نوعية، وحلماً يتحقق بالنسبة للمنطقة التي كانت في حاجة ماسة لمدرسة جديدة تستوعب الأعداد المتزايدة من الطلبة.
وتوجه عبد طاهر بالشكر لدولة قطر ولقطر الخيرية لجهودهم المتواصلة في الإسهام بتوفير بيئة تعليمية ملائمة، وتحسين المستوى العلمي والتربوي للطلبة، ونوه بعمق العلاقة التي تربطهم بقطر الخيرية، لافتاً إلى الدور الإنساني الريادي الذي تقوده في الصومال، من خلال مكتبها في مقديشو في المجالات الإغاثية والتنموية، لا سيما التعليم، فضلاً عن كفالات الأيتام، وطلبة العلم والمعلمين.
