Al Sulaiti: HIA expansion is underway and tender is within two months

HE Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti, Minister of Transport and Communications (MOTC), met with HE Mrs. Elizabeth Bourne, Minister of Transport of the French Republic, in the fields of aviation, transport and communications during the opening ceremony of the 53rd International Paris Air Show Le Bourget.

In another context, HE Al Sulaiti stressed that the expansion of Hamad International Airport (HIA) is still in place and is proceeding according to the planned program. He denied what has been circulated in some media and social networking platforms on the suspension or postponement of expansion. He added that the expansion will be carried out under the auspices of MOTC and Civil Aviation Authority. The tender will be open for the whole new building in the next two months with some small tenders, related to the expansion, will also be submitted.

استعرض سعادة السيد جاسم بن سيف السليطي وزير المواصلات والاتصالات، مع سعادة السيدة إليزابيث بورن وزيرة النقل في الجمهورية الفرنسية أوجه التعاون في مجال الطيران والنقل والمواصلات، إضافة إلى مناقشة عدد من الموضوعات ذات الاهتمام المشترك بين البلدين الصديقين والسبل الكفيلة بتعزيزها، وذلك في حفل افتتاح النسخة الثالثة والخمسين من معرض الطيران الدولي بضاحية لوبورجيه في العاصمة الفرنسية باريس.

وفي سياق آخر أكد سعادة السيد جاسم بن سيف السليطي أن توسعة مطار حمد الدولي مازالت قائمة، وتسير وفق حسب البرنامج المقرر لها. ونفى ما تم تداوله في بعض وسائل الإعلام ومنصات التواصل الاجتماعي، بشأن ايقاف التوسعة أو تأجيلها. وأضاف في تصريحات صحفية: التوسعة قائمة وتم إسنادها لشركة «مطار» لتتولى الإشراف عليها، بإشراف وزارة المواصلات والاتصالات وهيئة الطيران المدني، وخلال الشهرين القادمين سيتم طرح المناقصة للمبنى الجديد بالكامل، وخلال الأسابيع القليلة المقبلة ستطرح مناقصات صغيرة متعلقة بالتوسعة أيضًا.
