Researchers win awards at CMU-Q event
مشروع محرّك بحثي يفوز بجائزة «كارنيجي»
Doha: A graduating senior from the Computer Science Program won the top award at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar’s (CMU-Q) ‘Meeting of the Minds’ research symposium.
Omar Khattab created a novel framework that makes it easier and more efficient for information retrieval experts to develop and deploy scalable search engines. Large-scale information retrieval is central to many applications like web and e-commerce searches.
Second place went to Beom Jin Jayden Park and Hawra Al Saygh for their project, “Effect of aspartame on kinetics of calf intestinal alkaline phosphatase,” and third place went to Youssef Kanbour for “Re-expression of BRCA1 using targeted DNA demethylation in breast cancer cells.” Al Dana Al Mohannadi won the Best Poster Design award for her project, “Educating girls in Qatar: Toward enhancing technology use in public schools.”
There were more than two dozens in the undergraduate poster category.
فاز طالب في السنة الأخيرة من برنامج علوم الحاسوب بالجائزة الأولى في ملتقى العقول 2019 في جامعة كارنيجي ميلون في قطر.
ابتكر الطالب، عمر خطاب، هيكلية جديدة تسهّل على خبراء استرجاع المعلومات عملية تطوير محركات البحث . ويُعد استرجاع المعلومات على نطاق واسع أمراً حيوياً بالنسبة للعديد من التطبيقات، على غرار البحث في الشبكة، وفي مجال التجارة الإلكترونية. وعمل عمر، الذي حاز كذلك جائزة من الصندوق القطري لرعاية البحث العلمي، مع مرشده الأكاديمي، محمد حمود، الأستاذ المساعد لعلوم الحاسوب، على المشروع.
وفاز بيوم جين جايدن بارك وحوراء الصايغ بالمركز الثاني عن مشروع «تأثير الأسبارتام على حركية الفوسفاتاز القلوي لأمعاء العجل»، فيما حلّ يوسف قنبور ثالثاً عن مشروعه المتعلق بخلايا سرطان الثدي.
كما فازت الدانة المهندي بجائزة تصميم أفضل ملصق عن مشروع «تعليم الفتيات في قطر: نحو تعزيز استخدام التكنولوجيا في المدارس المستقلة».
