Overall aid provided by QRCS over past three years benefited 30 million in Iraq
الهلال الأحمر القطري يوزّع مساعدات غذائية لـ 30 ألف نازح عراقي
Doha: Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) said that the overall aid provided by QRCS over the past three years amounted to above QR1bn, used to fund hundreds of relief, development, and social projects for up to 30 million beneficiaries in and out of Qatar.
In a statement on the occasion of World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day that will be marked tomorrow, Secretary-General of QRCS Ali bin Hassan Al Hammadi said, “All of these achievements, and their underlying principles and values, were possible only with the spirit of compassion, benevolence, and commitment among our staff and volunteers.”
“Love is the energy that motivates you to give and to overcome the challenges to your cause. We stand by humanity everywhere. Vulnerable individuals are our target. Saving lives is our goal, and preserving dignity is the basis of whatever we do,” he added.
“As part of the Movement, we have intensified our efforts to help the victims of disasters and conflicts around the world,” said Al Hammadi. “We also work to serve the Qatari community across a wide range of fields and target groups”.
The QRCS, together with the fellow members of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, marks World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, which is observed every year on 8 May.
Remarkably, this year is the centenary of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), which was established in 1919.
Over the year, the world celebrates the power of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, as well as the contributions of staff and move than 12 million active volunteers.
Under the theme of #Love, the celebration is aimed at making the Movement widely visible, by highlighting its diverse and global scope of work.
Also, it seeks to mobilize the sentiment towards the Movement in promoting the dedication and influence of Red Cross and Red Crescent staff and volunteers.
قام الهلال الأحمر القطري من خلال بعثته التمثيلية في العراق بتوزيع مساعدات غذائية لفائدة 30,000 نازح في محافظتي نينوى وأربيل العراقيتين، وذلك بالتنسيق مع كلٍّ من الهلال الأحمر العراقي، ومنظمة الإغاثة الإسلامية، وعدد من الشركاء المحليين.
جاءت المساعدات في صورة طرود غذائية، يحتوي كل طرد منها على كمية من اللحوم المعلبة تكفي لأسرة مكونة من 5 أفراد. وقد قامت الفرق الميدانية للهلال الأحمر القطري والجهات الشريكة بتوزيع اللحوم المعلبة على المستفيدين حسب حاجة كل مخيم من مخيمات النازحين في الموصل وأربيل.
ففي مخيم الخازر شرق الموصل، تم توزيع اللحوم المعلبة بالتعاون مع منظمة بسمة وزيتونة على 1,350 مستفيداً، وتوزيع 540 حصة غذائية في مخيم بحركة شمال أربيل بالتنسيق مع منظمة الإغاثة الإسلامية والهلال الأحمر العراقي ومنظمة بارزاني الخيرية، بالإضافة إلى 1,750 حصة غذائية في مخيم ديبكا جنوب أربيل.
وخارج المخيمات، قامت الفرق الميدانية بتوزيع 483 حصة غذائية على النازحين داخل ملعب فرانسو حريري.
وإلى محافظة نينوى، حيث تم توزيع المساعدات الغذائية بالتنسيق مع الهلال الأحمر العراقي ومنظمة بارزاني الخيرية، ومنها 1,600 حصة غذائية مقسمة على عدة أحياء داخل مدينة الموصل (الموصل القديمة، حي الزهور، الحي الزراعي)، و1,265 حصة غذائية في مخيم حسن شام شرق الموصل، وأخيراً 670 حصة غذائية في مخيم النمرود جنوب الموصل.
