MoU to establish first Huawei Academy in Qatar
مذكرة تفاهم لتأسيس أكاديمية «هواوي» الأولى في قطر
Qatar University College of Engineering (QU-CENG) yesterday signed an MoU with Huawei Technologies Investment Co Ltd – Qatar, which will see the first Huawei Authorised Information and Network Academy (Haina) programme launched in Qatar.
The MoU was signed by QU-CENG dean Prof Abdelmagid Hammuda and Huawei Technologies CEO Frank Fan, in the presence of QU president Dr Hassan al-Derham, Huawei Technologies vice president Farhan Khan, Huawei representatives and QU leadership, faculty and staff.
Huawei will deliver its training and certification programmes to QU through Haina, while promoting QU as a training organisation to its students and customers base for Haina-based programmes and selected professional programmes according to QU’s capability and capacity.
Additionally, Huawei will provide Huawei Certification Academy Instructor (HCAI) training for professional instructors for each course direction.
QU will provide classroom and other teaching facilities to accommodate Huawei ICT equipment for the Haina programme, as well as professional instructors to become Huawei certified academy instructors.
The university will also add the Haina certification course as an extension course for the QU curriculums, liaise with local networking industry – in particular government entities and institutions – to promote and deliver Haina network training across a wider outreach of population in the ICT realm within Qatar, and work with Huawei to develop a training schedule that meets students’ needs.
Both parties will monitor the Haina programme and offer suggestions for continuous improvement, explore opportunities for alliances, and seek to address the ICT skills requirements within the Qatar ICT landscape.
Prof Abdelmagid Hammuda said: “Through this MoU, Qatar University CENG showcases its commitment to providing students with opportunities to heighten their skills and competencies and to enhance their knowledge in the field of information and communications technology. This opportunity will help students stay in close touch with technological advancements and innovations in China, and to interact with experts easily.
“We are proud to roll out our flagship global CSR programme in Qatar in partnership with a leading educational institution such as Qatar University, and in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Qatar. The Huawei academy will equip Qatari youth with the necessary skills and know-how to lead the country’s journey to become a knowledge-based society and support digital transformation in Qatar,” said Fan.
“Developing the technology capabilities of Qatar’s youth will have a significant impact on the smart evolution of our society and country, contributing to the growth of our economy. Initiatives such as this one between Qatar University and Huawei demonstrate the power that cooperative action can have in shaping the future of a nation,” said Dr Ibrahim al-Nuaimi, undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
وقّعت كلية الهندسة بجامعة قطر مذكرة تفاهم مع شركة «هواوي»، لتأسيس أكاديمية «هواوي» للمعلومات والشبكات المعتمدة والأولى في قطر، والتي ستعمل على تطوير برامج تدريب لنقل تقنيات تكنولوجيا المعلومات والاتصالات لمنتسبي جامعة قطر من خلال الأكاديمية. وقام بتوقيع مذكرة التفاهم كل من: الأستاذ الدكتور عبدالمجيد حمودة عميد كلية الهندسة، والسيد فرانك فان الرئيس التنفيذي ورئيس شركة «هواوي قطر»، وبحضور سعادة الدكتور حسن الدرهم رئيس الجامعة، والسيد فرحان خان نائب رئيس شركة «هواوي قطر»، وعدد من ممثلي شركة «هواوي»، وأعضاء الهيئة التدريسية في جامعة قطر.
وستقوم «هواوي» بتقديم برامج التدريب والشهادات الخاصة بشركة «هواوي» إلى جامعة قطر من خلال برامج أكاديمية وشبكة المعلومات، وترويج البرامج، فيما ستقوم جامعة قطر بتوفير المرافق التعليمية لاستيعاب معدات تكنولوجيا المعلومات والاتصالات، وتوفير مدربين محترفين، بالإضافة للتواصل مع قطاع الشبكات المحلية، وخاصة المؤسسات الحكومية، لتعزيز وتقديم تدريب الشبكات والمعلومات على نطاق أوسع مع المجتمع في مجال تكنولوجيا المعلومات والاتصالات داخل الدوحة. وقال الدكتور عبدالمجيد حمودة عميد كلية الهندسة: «تأتي هذه المذكرة للتأكيد على حرص كلية الهندسة في جامعة قطر على التعاون مع القطاع الصناعي، لتدريب طلبة الجامعة على أيدي خبراء أكفاء في مؤسسات تكنولوجية كبرى، وربطهم بسوق العمل، وإطلاعهم على آخر ما توصلت إليه التكنولوجيا الحديثة في مجالاتهم». وأضاف: «تسهم هذه المذكرة في تفعيل الشراكة المجتمعية، وتسهيل نقل المعرفة والتكنولوجيا مع «هواوي» خدمة للجامعة والمجتمع، وتعميق العلاقة مع القطاع الصناعي نحو مزيد من التعاون». وقال السيد فرانك فان الرئيس التنفيذي ورئيس شركة «هواوي قطر»: «نشعر حقيقة بالفخر لتعزيز مشاريع المسؤولية الاجتماعية من خلال توقيع هذه المذكرة مع جامعة قطر، بالإضافة لبرامج التعاون مع وزارة التعليم والتعليم العالي ووزارة المواصلات والاتصالات في قطر، حيث سنعمل من خلال هذه المذكرة على تدريب الطلبة القطريين على المهارات المختلفة». وقال سعادة الدكتور إبراهيم النعيمي وكيل وزارة التعليم والتعليم العالي: «إن تطوير القدرات التقنية لشباب قطر سيكون له تأثير كبير على تطور مجتمعنا، مما سيسهم في نمو اقتصاد بلدنا».
