HMC’s new Trauma and Emergency Center starts limited services from today

Doha: Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has announced that from 7am today, a limited number of services will start to be delivered from the new Trauma and Emergency Center.

The move marks the first phase of a staged opening for the new facility, with the majority of services at the new Center opening over the summer and early autumn this year.

Patients arriving at the new Trauma and Emergency Center, which is located on the same campus as the former Emergency Department, will be triaged upon arrival, with the former Emergency Department staying open until the new Center is fully operational. Once fully operational, the new Center — one of the largest in the region —will lead to a significant expansion of trauma and emergency services in Qatar, ranging from trauma, urgent and critical care, to short stay and See and Treat walk-in services.

Once fully operational, the first floor will be dedicated to ambulance arrivals and critical care patients and will also house Qatar’s Major Trauma Center. The second floor will be dedicated to urgent care patients, while the third floor will be for short stay patients who require a period of monitoring before being discharged.

The new facility will also offer patients access to state-of-the-art technology including three CT scans, MRI, X-ray and ultrasound machines as well as an ultra-modern decompression chamber which will provide oxygen therapy for a range of medical conditions as well as diving accidents. Commenting on the services starting at the new Trauma and Emergency Center, Dr. Yousef Al Maslamani, Medical Director at Hamad General Hospital said: “This is a really important first milestone on our journey to transforming trauma and emergency care in Qatar.”

“We are excited to be able to welcome our first patients and while there is still some way to go before the facility is fully operational, walk-in patients will be able to experience the new Center at first hand and were very confident this is going to improve the experience our patients have,” added Dr. Al Maslamani.

In addition to the See and Treat services available on the Ground Floor, a further three floors are planned for the new Trauma and Emergency Center. Until the whole building is operational, patients in need of immediate or urgent clinical intervention – and patients arriving by ambulance – will be transferred and treated in the former Emergency Department until the rest of the new facility opens late this year.

The Center will link to Hamad General Hospitals new operating theater facility and the Trauma Intensive Care Unit at Hamad General Hospital for the rapid transfer of patients. The start of See and Treat services at the new Trauma and Emergency Center follows the opening of five new hospitals over the last three years – the largest expansion in HMC history. These include the four new Medical City hospitals – the Communicable Disease Center, Women’s Wellness and Research Center, Qatar Rehabilitation Institute, and the Ambulatory Care Center as well as Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital, HMCs newest hospital located in the Industrial Area.

أعلنت مؤسسة حمد الطبية ان مركز الطوارئ واصابات الحوادث الجديد سيبدأ اعتبارا من /الاربعاء/ في تقديم مجموعة من الخدمات المحدودة للمرضى.

وتمثل هذه الخطوة المرحلة الأولى من الافتتاح التدريجي للمرفق الجديد، حيث أن غالبية الخدمات الأخرى التي يوفرها المركز سيتم تدشينها على مدار أشهر الصيف وبداية موسم الخريف من العام الجاري.

ويقع مركز الطوارئ وإصابات الحوادث الجديد في حرم مستشفى حمد العام، حيث مقر قسم الطوارئ السابق، وسيخضع كافة مرضى الحالات الطارئة المراجعين له للتقييم عند وصولهم، بينما سيظل قسم الطوارئ السابق مفتوحا حتى وصول مركز الطوارئ الجديد لمرحلة التشغيل بكامل طاقته.

ويعد المركز الجديد أحد أكبر المراكز من نوعها في المنطقة وبعد تشغيله بكامل طاقاته، سيسهم هذا المرفق في توسعة خدمات الطوارئ وإصابات الحوادث في دولة قطر بشكل لافت، بدءا من خدمات إصابات الحوادث والرعاية الحرجة والعاجلة وصولا إلى الإقامة القصيرة وخدمات الحالات الطارئة التي تستخدم نموذج الكشف والعلاج السريع.

وبعد تشغيل المركز بكامل طاقاته، سيخصص الطابق الأول للمرضى المنقولين على متن سيارات الإسعاف ومرضى الحالات الحرجة، كما سيضم أيضا المركز الرئيسي لإصابات الحوادث في قطر.

أما الطابق الثاني فسيستقبل مرضى الحالات العاجلة، في حين سيخصص الطابق الثالث لمرضى الإقامة القصيرة الذين يتعين خضوعهم للمراقبة لفترة من الزمن قبل خروجهم من المستشفى.

وسيوفر أيضا المرفق الجديد للمرضى إمكانية الوصول إلى أحدث التقنيات بما في ذلك أجهزة التصوير المقطعي المحوسب، والتصوير بالرنين المغناطيسي والتصوير بالأشعة السينية والتصوير بالموجات فوق الصوتية، فضلا عن غرفة حديثة للضغط العالي التي توفر العلاج بالأكسجين للمرضى الذين يعانون حالات صحية مختلفة بما في ذلك حوادث الغطس.

وقال الدكتور يوسف المسلماني المدير الطبي لمستشفى حمد العام ان بدء تقديم الخدمات بمركز الطوارئ وإصابات الحوادث الجديد يمثل علامة فارقة في مسيرة مؤسسة حمد الطبية نحو تغيير رعاية حالات إصابات الحوادث والطوارئ في قطر.

وإلى جانب خدمات الكشف والعلاج السريع المتاحة في الطابق الأرضي من المقرر افتتاح ثلاثة طوابق أخرى في مركز الطوارئ وإصابات الحوادث.

وحتى يتم تشغيل المبنى كاملا سيتم نقل المرضى الذين يحتاجون إلى تدخل طبي فوري أو رعاية طبية عاجلة والمرضى المنقولين في سيارات الإسعاف إلى قسم الطوارئ السابق للعلاج وذلك ريثما يتم افتتاح الأقسام المتبقية من المرفق الجديد في وقت لاحق من هذا العام.

وسيتم ربط هذا المركز بالمبنى الجديد للخدمات الجراحية ووحدة الرعاية المركزة للإصابات في مستشفى حمد العام لضمان النقل السريع للمرضى.

ويأتي إطلاق خدمات الكشف والعلاج السريع في مركز الطوارئ وإصابات الحوادث الجديد عقب افتتاح خمسة مستشفيات جديدة على مدار الأعوام الثلاثة الماضية، وذلك في إطار أكبر مرحلة توسعية تشهدها مؤسسة حمد الطبية في تاريخها حيث تشمل هذه المستشفيات أربعة مستشفيات بالمدينة الطبية وهي مركز الأمراض الانتقالية، ومركز صحة المرأة والأبحاث، ومركز قطر لإعادة التأهيل، ومركز الرعاية الطبية اليومية، إضافة إلى مستشفى حزم مبيريك العام وهو أحدث المستشفيات التابعة لمؤسسة حمد الطبية، ويقع في المنطقة الصناعية بالدوحة.

ويشكل مركز الطوارئ وإصابات الحوادث الجديد جزءا من حرم مستشفى حمد العام ويمكن الوصول إليه عبر البوابة رقم /5/ من جهة طريق الريان .. ويمكن الوصول إلى المرفق الجديد من نفس المسار الذي كان مخصصا لقسم الطوارئ السابق.
