HIA, Qatar Airways issue advisory for travellers to avoid Eid rush

Hamad International Airport (HIA) and national carrier Qatar Airways have issued travel advisories to passengers travelling during the upcoming Eid Al Fitr holidays and peak travel season to arrive at the airport three hours prior to their flight.
In a statement, HIA advised passengers departing during the peak Eid period to be sure to check in online, arrive three hours prior to their flight and use the e-gates (if registered) to “avoid queues and continue enjoying comfortable and seamless travel” through HIA.
Passengers travelling through HIA are reminded that check-in closes 60 minutes prior to departure. During security checks, passengers are also reminded to ensure they are not carrying any prohibited items such as liquids, aerosols, and gels and to ensure they pack any liquid containers in a clear, resealable plastic bag with each being 100ml or less.
New baggage wrapping centres are also located near row three and 10 in the airport. Electronic items larger than mobile phones need to be removed from bags and placed in trays for X-ray screening.
HIA also points out that small vehicles such as hoverboards that are powered by lithium batteries are prohibited for carriage and passengers are advised to minimise travelling with pets due to the holiday peak time.
To assist during the busy peak period with passengers returning from Eid holidays, and for the interest of passengers convenience and safety, access to the arrival and departure curbsides may be restricted to authorised vehicles only between 10:30 pm and 2am on June 8 and 9.
Passengers are requested to proceed to the short-term car park during these busy peak periods.
Passengers departing from HIA are advised to download the ‘HIAQatar’ mobile app available for both Andriod and iPhone for updates and to assist making the passengers journey more seamless with real-time information about flight status, baggage claim, time and direction to boarding gates and food, beverage and retail offers from Qatar Duty Free (QDF).
In a separate advisory, Qatar Airways advised passengers booked to travel from until July 15, to arrive and check in at Hamad International Airport at least three hours prior to departure to avoid any delays in view of the “upcoming Eid holiday and peak travel season.”
أهاب مطار حمد الدولي المسافرين المغادرين خلال الفترة من 3- 9 يونيو التي تتزامن مع عطلة أيام عيد الفطر المبارك ضرورة التسجيل على رحلاتهم عبر الإنترنت والحضور إلى المطار قبل 3 ساعات من موعد المغادرة واستخدام البوابات الإلكترونية (إذا كانوا مسجلين مسبقاً)، وذلك حتى يتجنبوا طوابير الانتظار ويستمتعوا بتجربة سفر سلسة ومريحة عبر مرافق المطار.
وأوضح المطار أن نقاط التسجيل على الرحلات سوف يتم إغلاقها قبل 60 دقيقة من موعد المغادرة، كما دعا المسافرين إلى عدم حمل أي مواد محظورة مثل السوائل والبخاخات ومستحضرات الجل، وإلى ضرورة تغليف أي عبوة تحتوي على مواد سائلة في كيس بلاستيكي شفاف وقابل لإعادة الغلق شريطة ألا يزيد حجم العبوة الواحدة على 100 مل. وأشار المطار إلى وجود مراكز جديدة لتغليف الأمتعة بالقرب من الصفين رقم 3 و10 في المطار. أي أجهزة أو معدات إلكترونية يزيد حجمها عن حجم الهاتف المحمول يتوجب إخراجها من الحقائب ووضعها في الأطباق المخصصة لفحصها بواسطة الأشعة السينية. ويُحظر على المسافرين أيضاً حمل مركبات صغيرة مثل عجلة التوازن الذاتي التي تعمل ببطاريات الليثيوم. كما نصح المطار بتحاشي اصطحاب الحيوانات الأليفة قدر الإمكان وذلك نظراً للازدحام الذي تشهده هذه الأيام التي تمثل فترة من فترات الذروة في موسم السفر.
ومن أجل مساعدة المسافرين القادمين من إجازات العيد خلال هذه الأيام، وحرصاً على راحتهم وسلامتهم، قد يكون الدخول إلى أرصفة الوصول والمغادرة مقصوراً على السيارات المرخص لها فقط من الساعة 10:30 مساءً وحتى 2 صباحاً خلال الفترة من 8 إلى 9 يونيو 2019. كما ناشد المطار المسافرين باستخدام مواقف السيارات قصيرة الأمد خلال هذه الأيام.
ونَصح المسافرين المغادرين بتحميل تطبيق الهاتف الذكي “HIAQatar” والذي يتوفر للأجهزة التي تعمل بنظاميّ الأندرويد والآيفون حتى يمكنهم الاطلاع على التحديثات والحصول على المساعدة التي تجعل تجربة السفر أكثر سلاسة بفضل المعلومات الفورية التي يتلقونها عن حالة الرحلة واستلام الأمتعة وأوقات فتح بوابات الصعود واتجاهاتها ومنافذ الطعام والشراب والبيع بالتجزئة في السوق الحرة القطرية.
