More than 64 tonnes of agricultural produce destroyed for violations

Doha: The Ministry of Municipality and Environment’s agricultural quarantine officers inspected 6,546 imported shipments weighing 112,059.577 tonnes, from various types of imported agricultural consignments, such as plants and production inputs products at all customs ports in the country in October.

The quarantine offices destroyed 59 shipments that weigh more than 64 tonnes for violating the agricultural quarantine law and for certain damages.

The agricultural quarantine is the first line of defence for protection from agricultural infections. The preventive procedure aims to protect the country’s agricultural wealth from foreign-originated pests. It also requires that all plants, agricultural products and any other materials shall be subject to phytosanitary regulations for its procedures and to ensure that other agricultural production inputs are in conformity with the conditions and specifications.

قامت وزارة البلدية والبيئة -ممثلة بمكاتب الحجر الزراعي التابعة لإدارة الشؤون الزراعية- خلال شهر أكتوبر الماضي بالكشف على (6546) إرسالية زنتها (112059.577) طناً من مختلف أنواع الإرساليات الزراعية المستوردة (نباتية ومنتجات، ومدخلات إنتاج).

وتم إتلاف (59) إرسالية زنتها (64.19) طن، لمخالفتها قانون الحجر الزراعي، وإصابتها بآفات حجرية أو غير حجرية بنسب كبيرة.

يُذكر أن الحجر الزراعي يعتبر خط الدفاع الأول لحماية ووقاية النبات من الآفات الزراعية، وهو الإجراء الوقائي الذي يهدف إلى حماية الثروة النباتية في البلاد من خطر الإصابة بالآفات من خارج البلاد، والذي يقضي بإخضاع جميع النباتات والمنتجات الزراعية، وأي مواد أخرى خاضعة للوائح الصحة النباتية لإجراءات الحجر الزراعي، ومدى مطابقة مدخلات الإنتاج الزراعي الأخرى للشروط والمواصفات المعمول بها، كما تقوم مكاتب الحجر الزراعي بتطبيق قانون الحجر الزراعي رقم (24) لسنة 2005م ولائحته التنفيذية والقرارات والتعاميم التابعة له.;
