Ooredoo confirms enablement of VoLTE for Samsung S9 & S9+

Ooredoo confirmed it had enabled Voice Over Long-term Evolution – VoLTE – for Samsung S9 and S9+ devices on March 27, making it the first telecommunications provider in Qatar to offer VoLTE on the Samsung devices.

The enablement means customers with the Samsung S9 and S9+ devices will now be able to enjoy faster call set-up times – almost twice as fast as a non-VoLTE call set-up – as well as clearer, more natural-sounding audio when both parties are using HD voice-enabled phones connected to the Ooredoo 4G LTE network, and longer battery life. VoLTE capability also means customers can still enjoy 4G download speeds while making a voice call.

Speaking about the enablement, Manar Khalifa Al Muraikhi – Director PR and Corporate Communications at Ooredoo – said: “We’re constantly looking for ways we can improve our service to our customers, in line with our drive to achieve complete customer satisfaction.

We know accessing the latest technology is a huge priority for our customers, so we’re committed to bringing the best to our customers first and we’re proud to be the first in Qatar to be able to offer access to VoLTE capability on yet another smartphone device.” Customers with Samsung S9 and S9+ devices will need to update their software in order to benefit from the VoLTE capability.

The Ooredoo team is working closely with Samsung in order to extend VoLTE capability to the S10 model and yet more Samsung devices in the near future.

أكدت «ooredoo» إتمامها تمكين خدمة الاتصالات الصوتية عبر LTE (VoLTE) على هواتف Samsung S9 وS9+، ما يجعل الشركة أول مقدم لخدمات الاتصالات في قطر يوفر خدمات الصوت عبر LTE (VoLTE) على أجهزة Samsung. وأشارت الشركة إلى أنها انتهت من الإجراءات والتجارب اللازمة لإطلاق الخدمة بتاريخ 27 مارس 2019.

ومن خلال هذا الإنجاز، أصبح بإمكان العملاء من مستخدمي أجهزة Samsung S9 أو S9+ الاستمتاع بإجراء المكالمات بوقت أسرع -حوالي ضعف سرعة إجراء المكالمات في الأجهزة التي لا تكون فيها خدمة الاتصالات الصوتية عبر LTE (VoLTE) مهيأة- بالإضافة إلى الاستمتاع بصوت أكثر وضوحاً عندما يستخدم طرفا الاتصال هواتف متوافقة لتوفير خدمات الصوت عالية الدقة ومتصلة بشبكة «4G LTE» من «ooredoo»، إلى جانب الاستفادة أيضاً من عمر أطول للبطارية. ومن خلال قدرات خدمة الاتصالات الصوتية عبر LTE (VoLTE)، سيتمكن العملاء من الاستمتاع بسرعات «4G» حتى أثناء إجراء مكالمة صوتية.

وسيحتاج العملاء من مستخدمي هواتف Samsung S9 وS9+ إلى تحديث برنامج هواتفهم ليتمكنوا من الاستفادة من خدمة الاتصالات الصوتية عبر LTE (VoLTE). ويعمل فريق «ooredoo» عن قرب مع Samsung لتمكين هواتف S10 بقدرات VoLTE، وتمكين هذه الخدمة على المزيد من أجهزة Samsung في المستقبل القريب.
