Deputy PM meets Italian Prime Minister in Rome

Rome: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani met with Prime Minister of the Italian Republic, Giuseppe Conti, during his visit to Italy yesterday.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations and means of enhancing and developing them, as well as issues of common concern, especially the situation in Libya. H E Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed Qatar’s concern about the serious military escalation led by General Haftar, pointing out that such actions do not take into account the supreme national interest of the Libyan people and will have serious repercussions at the local and international levels.
HE the Minister of Foreign affairs stressed the need for the military militias to respect international law and the Security Council resolutions and immediately stop all attempts to obstruct efforts to complete the Libyan dialogue.
In a joint statement, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Italian Prime Minister stressed the importance of international coordination to support coexistence, peace, and stability in Libya for the benefit of the Libyan people and putting Libyan interest above all considerations. The Deputy Prime Minister also met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Italian Republic Enzo Moavero Milanesi.
They discussed bilateral relations and means of boosting them and enhancing prospects for joint cooperation in addition to a number of issues of common interest, especially the situation in Libya.
اجتمع سعادة الشيخ محمد بن عبدالرحمن آل ثاني نائب رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير الخارجية، اليوم مع دولة السيد جوزيبي كونتي، رئيس وزراء الجمهورية الإيطالية، وذلك خلال الزيارة التي يقوم بها سعادته إلى إيطاليا.
تم خلال الاجتماع مناقشة العلاقات الثنائية وسبل تعزيزها وتطويرها، والقضايا ذات الاهتمام المشترك، لاسيما الأوضاع في ليبيا.
وفي هذا السياق، عبر سعادة نائب رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير الخارجية عن قلق دولة قطر من التصعيد العسكري الخطير الذي يقوده الجنرال حفتر، لافتا إلى أن مثل هذه التصرفات لا تأخذ المصلحة الوطنية العليا للشعب الليبي في الحسبان، وسيكون لها تداعيات وخيمة على الصعيدين المحلي والدولي.
وشدد سعادته على ضرورة احترام الميليشيات العسكرية للقانون الدولي وقرارات مجلس الأمن وتوقفها فورا عن المحاولات العابثة لعرقلة جهود إتمام الحوار الليبي الجامع.
وفي بيان مشترك أكد سعادة نائب رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير الخارجية ودولة رئيس مجلس الوزراء الإيطالي “على أهمية التنسيق الدولي لدعم التعايش والسلام والاستقرار في ليبيا بما يحقق مصلحة الشعب الليبي ويضعها فوق كل اعتبار”.
